Acquired from an estate, this is a WWII Walther P38 GI bring-back made in 1943. The wartime blue finish is good on the right side of slide and frame, but shows freckling and finish drop-outs on the left side of the barrel and slide. The top of the slide, rear sight, top of barrel and front sight are all in very good condition. The left side of slide is marked “P.38” and lower case “ac” over “43”; the left side of frame indicates a Waffen eagle over “359” stamp. The right side of the slide is marked with Waffen eagle over “359” stamps and what appears to be an eagle over a swastika stamp. All visible serial numbers (2113K) match, including the frame, slide and barrel. The brown plastic grips (period correct) are in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. There are no importation marks.
Mechanically, the gun is tight and crisp; the bore has good rifling and a shine, but shows some light darkening in the grooves and minor pitting closer to the chamber. There is no rust or pitting anywhere else on the gun.
The single, good condition magazine is marked “P.38.”, evidences an eagle over “359” stamp and appears to be original to the gun.
