Description:
Inland M1 carbine .30 cal, serial number 564-xxx, Bavaria Prison Guard marked receiver. These carbines were used in postwar Germany. This carbine is in very good used working condition.
Metal parts have a dark parkerized finish with little wear, except where the bolt rides in the receiver grooves. Barrel, slide and stock are Inland, as are some other parts-see list below.
The carbine has been disassembled, examined, cleaned, lubricated, and test fired. A video of our test firing is available on our YouTube account, FernwoodArmoryTV.
Part Details:
•Receiver: May 1942-Sept 1943. Excellent condition, absolutely no pitting. Stamped “BAVARIA PRISON GUARD”, parallel to bolt cutout. The metal where this is marked has not been filed; there was not a designation before Bavaria Prison Guard.
•Barrel: Inland 9-43, marked with firing proof “P”. Bore is very bright overall, but there are several lightly pitted areas near the muzzle end of the bore. This really is minor; see barrel photo. Riflings are very good. ME: less than 1
•Front sight: marked “N”, Niedner Rifle Corp. for Inland
•Rear sight: adjustable, milled, marked “J.A.O. 7160060”, used by Inland and others
•Bolt: round, parkerized, marked “FM-Q”, Quality H.M.C.
•Firing pin: marked “NL-Q”, Quality H.M.C.
•Extractor: late type flat lip, marked W.I., Wadsworth Watch Case Co. for Inland
•Barrel band: repro, without bayonet lug
•Trigger housing: marked “.U.”, Underwood, also ordnance bomb on trigger guard
•Safety: pushbutton, unmarked
•Operating slide: six o’clock, marked “PI”, Inland
•Hammer: straight, blued, marked “WU”, Underwood
•Trigger: marked “.U.”, Underwood
•Sear: marked “.U.”, Underwood
•Magazine catch: “M” marked push tab, also marked “HI”, Inland
•Stock: Walnut, low wood, marked “HI” in sling well, Hillerich & Bradsby Co. for Inland. Inland crossed cannons stamp on right side. Stock is in excellent condition. No cracks, relatively few dings and scratches
•Handguard: two rivets, very faint stamp seems to be SC-B, if so this is Sprague & Carleton for IBM
•Buttplate: unmarked with square checkering pattern
•Recoil plate: marked “DI”, Dayton Mold Co. for Inland
•Magazine: marked “IA”, Autorye Co. for Inland
•Sling and oiler: web, new repro
