From its home domicile here in West Tennessee comes this utility version of North America’s best loved rifle, the Winchester Model of 1894. From its 6,075,000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1991. Manufacturer was Winchester Olin of New Haven, CT, and barrel is marked Winchester Ranger 30-30 Win. / Made in New Haven, Conn. U.S.A. Winchester Proof Steel. Construction is all steel metal parts, with milled steel shell carrier. Forend and Buttstock are American Hardwood, with a buttstock length of pull at 13 3/8 inches from the .312 smooth face trigger to the end of the factory polymer butt plate. Barrel is 20 inch with 1:12 six groove right hand rifling. Sights are dovetailed beaded blade front, and traditional semi buckhorn rear that is step adjustable for elevation and screw drift adjustable for windage. Magazine tube is full length steel, and holds 6 .30-30 Winchester caliber cartridges, so 6 + 1 total capacity. Hammer is traditional .370 serrated spur, and has its screw in hammer extension for scope users. Safety mechanism is receiver cross bolt, activates from the right side and blocks the hammer, with the additional original lever safety, so that the trigger will not operate without a firm hold on the lever. Receiver is drilled in four positions on top to accommodate any 94AE scope mount. Stock drop is 2 inches at the comb, and 3 inches at the heel, with a 1 inch right hand cast. Swivels are permanent mag tube front and stock drilled rear, 1 inch width. Sling is period correct Suede Lined Leather. Finish is original blue steel barrel, magazine, and parts. Wood finish is semi gloss oil type. Surface detractions are minimal, principally two small dings on the comb face and upper left tang. We rate this Winchester as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this rifle was actually fired fewer than 100 times. Replacement pricing is $600 or more on most any 1894 Winchester.
