This is a Springfield M1A SOCOM II. The SOCOM II is chambered for 7.62mm/.308 Winchester. This rifle has a 16" barrel (the shortest allowed for a civilian-owned rifle) made possible by a re-tuned gas system. A proprietary, high-efficiency muzzle brake virtually eliminates muzzle rise, enabling you to stay on the target for faster, more accurate follow-up shots. The new cluster rail system of the SOCOM II further enhances its versatility by accommodating virtually any optic, light or other accessory designed to fit a standard picatinny rail.
This rifle comes with the Trijicon iron site (night site) as well as two 10-round magazines (as shown in the photos). In addition, the rifle comes with the complete buttstock cleaning kit (includes combo tool, chamber and bore brushes, cleaning rod sections, tip and pouch). I will also include the M1A Gas Cylinder Lock Wrench (Disassembly tool), which is required to clean gas cylinder and piston.
The original gas cylinder piston has been replaced with a high-performance Titanium Nitride (Tin) coated piston made by Sadlak Industries. The Tin coating, which is often used on machine cutting tools, helps reduce galling and pitting and holds up better to the high heat and abrasiveness of gunpowder and primers. The resulting effect is a smoother action and improved life of the piston and cylinder. This gas piston has been made to GI specifications.
This rifle is used, however it has only been used a few times. It has had approximately 500 rounds fired through it. Overall, the gun is in great condition, although very minor signs of normal wear (breaking in) is noticeable. I have been meticulous in caring and cleaning this rifle.
