Here is a worthy specimen of Mossberg’s tried and true 590 A1, the military spec, parkerized finish 590, Mossberg Number 50663. The Mossberg 590 shotgun, writes the Factory, is the pump action shotgun you can count on. It has the credentials and track record to prove it. The Mossberg military 590 model is the only pump action shotguns ever to pass all stringent U.S. Military MilSpec-3443 standards. It features weather resistant, non glare military parkerized finish, 3 inch chambering, and southpaw friendly top tang safety. Capacity is 8 + 1 on 2 3/4 inch shells, or 7 + 1 on 3 inch. Barrel is 20 inch .728 Police Cylinder heavy barrel for withstanding high pressure loads and rough field use. Barrel has 16 ports for reduced muzzle climb. Front sight is raised, orange ramp Millett type blade front, with Windage and Elevation adjustable, wing protected anodized parkerized steel Ghost Ring rear sight mounted onto the receiver. Trigger group housing is parkerized alloy, not polymer. Forend is classic police corncob type graphite based polymer, with matching buttstock that has stippled surface pistol grip area panels. Length of pull is 14 inches from the .300 smooth faced steel trigger to the end of the 1 inch rubber recoil pad. Weight empty is a surprisingly light 7 1/4 pounds, center of gravity beneath the chamber. This specimen is one of Mossberg’s showgirls, what we call a factory demo. It has never been out of Mossberg corporate custody until we got it. Surface detractions are minimal, principally faint amounts of operation and edge streaking. We rate it as Excellent, since no more than 10 percent of its surfaces have been affected, at least in our estimation. Photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. This 590 comes in a factory box with instruction manual and warranty statement, and Mossberg cable lock.
