BRAND NEW IN THE BOX UNFIRED, NEVER EVEN ASSEMBLED! This rare find looks like something that came out of a time machine! Bolt is still wrapped in factory package, evidence this firearm was never even put together. Purchased from a collection the end of the box is marked with 1981 NRA Exhibit, although there is no documentation to prove it I would assume it was the model that was on display at this annual convention for that year.
Based on the serial Number of 2738 this would most likely be a first or second year production firearm.
Kimber was founded as "Kimber of Oregon" in 1979 by Greg and Jack Warne in the small town of Clackamas, Oregon. Jack Warne moved to Oregon in 1968 after Portland-based Omark Industries purchased the Australian firearms manufacturer, Sporting Arms (or SportCo), he founded in Adelaide, South Australia, following World War II.
Following its founding, Kimber of Oregon, quickly built a reputation for exceptionally accurate .22 long rifle caliber rifles, and began to expand its product line and eventually acquired a second manufacturing plant in nearby Colton, Oregon. Manufactured from 1980-1988 this model features a Monte Carlo cheekpiece on a high grade walnut stock, all metal work is a high polish blued.
