Here is a very rare and desireable rifle. This rifle is marked Eduard Kettner, Suhl Germany. It is in its original chambering, "U.S. .30" caliber (.30/06). It has some very desireable bells and whistles including engraved receiver, floorplate, Double-set triggers (which are completely functional), Greener side safety and a full solid ribbed barrel which is about 3/8th inch wide for about 8 inches from the receiver ring and then tapers to about 3/16 from there to the end of the barrel. Barrel is 24 inches long. Length of pull is 14 inches from front trigger to end of pad. For sights, the front sight is integral with the front rib and nicely swells in height and width for the last 1.6 inches of the rib. The rear sight is mounted in the rib and consists of one standing heavy fixed sight and one folding sight. The rifle is also equipped with a side mounted Lyman, "ALASKAN" scope in ECHO (Littleton, Colorado) quick detachable side mounts. The scope is 2.5 power and has bright crisp clear optics. The rifle is in excellent condition overall. Wood is nicely checkered and has never been "freshened" with contrasting color grip cap. Excellent bore and mechanical functioning appears excellent in all respects with DST, Greener safety and bolt shroud safety all appearing completely functional. It is also a very nice handling and svelt rifle - with the sling, scope mounts and scope, it weighs a scant 8 pounds. This is not a rifle that needs to go on a diet. It is a wonderful piece overall and quite rare to be chambered in an American chambering as nearly all of these were chambered in 8x57 or some other metric caliber. As I sit down and write this description, the less I want to see it go. Please note that I am selling this rifle as a collector item and make no claims or warranty as to its safety or shootability. I endorse the general practice of having all used firearms inspected by a qualified gunsmith prior to firing. Standard five day, non-shooting inspection priviledges (minus shipping costs). I will need a current FFL signed in ink (C&R FFL will work fine). If you are from California, contact me prior to bidding. Shipping and insurance to the lower 48 will be $39 which will include shipment in a hardcase. No international sales or shipments. I need payment in the form of cashier's check or money order. I also can provide more photos via e-mail to someone who has serious interest in the rifle.
