A very nice specimen of a Remington model 514 single-shot .22 LR rifle. The gun came to me with some surface rust, a broken front sight, and a scuffed up stock. I replaced the front sight with a more sturdy one, steel-wooled and reblued the barrel, and I removed, sanded, and refinished the stock with linseed oil. This rifle is not drilled or tapped for a scope, yet shoots very well with open sights (into an inch at 25 yards with my old eyes; yours may do better). The rifle is sighted in with, and shoots its best with Remington subsonic hollowpoint. Also, under 20 yards, it shoots to the same point of aim with CCI CB .22 longs, which is most convenient for close-range quiet practice. I do not get out to hunt anymore, which is why I am selling it; but this rifle would be good for someone who had one as a kid and wants to remember better times, or someone who had one as a kid and wants to pass one on to their kid. Thank you.
