Description: HG3352 Always conservative, Sturm, Ruger & Company waited until 1986 to follow the full lug revolver trend that Smith & Wesson popularized with its L frames beginning in 1980. Here is one of the last specimens of the toughest standard heavy barrel revolver ever produced in the United States, the Ruger Speed Six. This one's serial number prefix is 162, and it dates to the final year of production, 1988, also President Reagan's final year in office. Our fellow citizens in California enjoyed the protective services of this fine revolver for almost two decades, during its career with the San Francisco County Sheriff's Department. It has its issue RSS-G Pachmayr Grippers with factory Ruger logos. Factory specs are double- and single-action revolver; 4 inch heavy barrel with shrouded ejector rod; 7 groove serrated solid rib with pin-on black ramp front sight and fixed notch rear sight; entirely stainless steel construction with steel round butt grip frame; six shot cylinder capacity, .38 Special and .357 Magnum interchangeably; .350 smooth combat trigger and .300 cleated spur service hammer; internal transfer bar safety mechanism; floating firing pin; weight 36 7/8 ounces empty. This specimen has light buffing and faint scouring from duty use, none of it readily conspicuous, on the cylinder surfaces, left side of the frame, upper right side of the frame, and on the trigger guard. We grade it as Very Good finishwise, since we estimate that 80 to 85 percent of its original finish is unaffected. Photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is negligible, only a faint etchy streak across the top strap with no cutting whatsoever. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a well fitted .008. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an additional 15 to 20 degrees after the cylinder times in all six positions. On single action, the hammer travels an additional 40 degrees on all six, and the single action trigger pull measures 4 3/4 pounds with minimal creep effect. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible, no more than 1/2 mm total by our estimate, with the trigger relaxed; and with the trigger pulled all the way the cylinder will not move at all. These revolvers are very hard to come by; we've only gotten five or six a year for the past twenty years. This specimen is attractive, collectable, and eminently serviceable. We're offering this one for only $ 419.95. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
