L.C. Smith Field .410 EJECTORS, 98% FACTORY CASE COLOR, AWESOME!
Vintage American double shotguns are highly sought after, being great financial assets that grow in value as you enjoy their use for fowl and clays. Those choosing the small bore guns as their passion choose from a minute pool of guns, as the .410 bore is a low production gun that is hard to find in high original condition. In fact, of the American makers, only Parker, Ithaca, and L.C. Smith made their shotguns in the diminutive .410. Most are aware that the Parker fetches well over the $20,000 mark, and for some reason the Ithaca has a smaller following. That leaves the L.C. Smith, America's only commercially successful sidelock action available in the .410 bore, as the most desirable and affordable of the American small bores. The best guns for your collection and for investment are always going to be unaltered, high condition guns representing the best of its kind. There is always a buyer for high condition, low production .410 American doubles. There were a total of only 2400 L.C. Smith Field Grade .410's made, and only 400 of those had the highly desirable ejectors. This gun, serial number FWE195635 made in 1941 by Hunter Arms Co., is one of the best available at any price; nearly new and factory original metal finishes are 98%. Most of the .410's being offered for sale are well worn, have short stocks, butt pads, etc. that make them more common. A gun like this one is unique and certainly one of the better examples remaining on the planet.
The 26" Armour Steel barrels retain 98% factory blue with excellent bores, choked M/F, bore diameter .412 both barrels, double beads, 3" factory chambers, ribs tight, strong well timed ejectors, barrels tight on breech face and hinge like a new gun, all excellent plus!
The featherweight action retains 97% bold factory colors, excellent screws, crisp double triggers, trigger guard retains 90% blue, action tight with lever right of center, excellent mechanics.
The factory wood retains most of an oil finish, with excellent checkering, no cracks or repairs, great wood to metal fit, 14" LOP to factory plate, 2 3/4" drop at heel, 1 1/2" drop at comb, neutral cast (can add pad or bend to your specs within 14 days of purchase for a small extra charge), a great set of wood. It is not often you find an uncut stock on a .410!
This is a Hunter Arms Co. gun, not a Marlin made gun, and it is lovely to the eye as well as in hand, with a weight of 5lbs. 13oz. and balanced right on the hinge pin. With less than 400 ejector Field Grades left on earth, this is certainly one of the best available. What a gas to shoot at clays, doves, quail, woodcock, grouse, or other thin skinned game! Priced to sell and be a fine investment, don't miss out to own this fine little Elsie!
There are more photos upon request. There is a 30 day mechanical warranty with this gun.
