Description: For Sale is a Remington military rifle used primarily for sniper activities during WW II and the Korean War, the Model 1903A4. This Remington has a serial number range known as a "First Block". The rifle has the correct Remington "R" marked bolt with the handle milled for scope clearance, also, the sling swivel, trigger guard, lower barrel band, upper sling swivel and upper barrel band are the correct Model 1903-A3(A4) components. The front sight and front sight base are absent, which is correct, and parkerizing is visible in the sight base grove, see photo. The barrel, receiver, bolt and stock furniture all have the typical post-war gray-green parkerized finish, with the exception of the nose cap and stacking swivel which are blued. The receiver has the distinctive Model 1903-A4 markings that consist of "U.S./REMINGTON/MODEL 03-A3" on the left side of the receiver between the edge of the stock and the telescopic sight base. The right side of the receiver is roll-stamped with the serial number "3425330". The barrel is roll-stamped with "R A" above the Ordnance "Shell & Flame" insignia and the date "8- 43".

The scant semi-pistol grip stock is a replacement, there are no cartouches but an inverted letter "K" is located in the magazine cut-off milling. "REDFIELD" is stamped on the right rear of the scope base. The telescopic sight base is parkerized but rings are blued as is the modern (1990s) Leupold Alaskan 2.5x scope. Scope and rings are 7/8", as was the original Weaver 330 scope.

An original Model 1903A4 in this condition is getting harder to find, excellent finish and super clean bore. I have shot this rifle to test it's accuracy and at 100 yards it will place three shots into well less than 1 inch, even with the low power scope and Remington factory 150 gr. ammo.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. No rust or eroded areas. Bore is clean and bright with two grove rifling that remains sharp. Head space: Excellent, tight chamber. The muzzle, measured with a 30 caliber bullet shows little or no erosion and the rifling is clearly visible and sharp at the end of the barrel. Markings: The barrel, at the muzzle is marked "RA / (Cherry Bomb) / 8-43". The scope mount is marked "Redfield". The scope is marked Leupold Alaskan 2.5X and is a modern replacement. The bolt, bolt handle and nose cap are marked with an "R". The receiver markings are correctly marked off-center to be visible with the scope mounted. The left side is marked "U.S. / Remington / Model 03-A3" and the left side is marked "3425330". This is a 'First Block' serial number which is in the correct range as evident with the off-set markings. This one is the real deal! Barrel: Length is 24" with TWO groove rifling. Mechanics: The action functions correctly and it's super accurate. See Photos for a detailed look at this rifle. Please ask if you have questions.
