Part of a special 1969 run of Commemoratives, this 20 inch octagonal barrel Winchester 94 carbine honored our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt, the best known Chief Executive we’ve ever had not only for being a hunter, but for being the greatest conservationist of all. Those two fields are related, of course; we preach it all the time. The exclusive retail owner of this rifle actually hunted with it, attest its sling swivel studs. It is well preserved and has only seen a moderate amount of deer hunting action in the Tennessee River bottomlands of Hardin County, Tennessee. Detractions are only minimal. There is an etchy area about 2 inches long on the left barrel flat near the magazine retainer. Receiver nickel has some rough texture, but this is probably original to the rifle, no evidence of plating peeling at all. Scouring to the semi-gloss finished walnut stock is minimal. We classify this 1894 Theodore Roosevelt Commemorative .30-30 as Very Good, close to Excellent since no more than 10 to 15 percent of its surfaces are affected by any aging or handling by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice so that our distinguished shoppers can judge finish grade for themselves. Note that this specimen’s nickel steel buttplate is well fitted, and that was not always the case with the Winchester Commemoratives. This 94 is Excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Cartridge case contact to the loading gate is minimal; we estimate this rifle has been fired fewer than 60 rounds. We’re offering it for only $ 569.95.
