This is an early 1940 Walther P38 in all original condition with all matching serial numbers, a wholesome gun in every respect. This gun shows some wear on the blue as can be seen on the pictures "but still" an honest wear that can be expected for this year, NO rust,or pitting. If I had to guess on the percentage of blue left, I would say near 80%. The clip is not numbered but it is the correct clip for this year. The clip has (two) stampings of the German proof 359 on its spine and is in excellent condition as well. The grips are numbered with last three digits 162, and the 359s. Definitely no cracks or breaks on the grips, and they fit the gun perfectly snug, has the original screw. This gun has an open horse shoe sear which is a rare feature. The sear works properly since the hammer falls when the safety is pushed down and then the trigger returns when the safety is pushed up. This is a TIGHT fitting gun, no rattling etc. The barrel has all the rifling and there is NO pitting or rust. I can't think of anything else to say about this fine original gun that has survived the war from 1940-45, so if you have any questions or need more pics, I'll try to have the answers for you. Gun has NO import marks. A true collector's P38 that I'm sure will go quickly. I'm selling because I am now retiring. Free Shipping and thanks for looking.
