From a career in Arkansas and Northwest Mississippi Duck Blinds comes this solid, serviceable and attractive specimen of the most sought after Waterfowl Shotgun of its day, a Browning Auto Five, Magnum Twelve variant manufactured in Herstal Belgium in 1974. Its owner used it as it was intended, for a duck gun. Surface detractions are moderate to extensive, but there are no cracks anywhere in its wood, and no mechanical damage. It shows extensive whitening to the sides of the barrel and receiver, with about 30 percent browning to its receiver and tang. Lower portions of the receiver and lower tang screws show etchy freckling. Note the mar on the left side of the rib between the sixth and seventh posts, but the rib itself is straight throughout, not wavy or bent at all. We rate this shotgun as only Good, 60 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent mechanically: bore, chamber, mechanism and magazine tube are all bright, clean, and excellent. Its 32 inch barrel, actually 31 1/4, has never been bored or altered in any way. Wall thickness at the muzzle gauges .075, and the muzzle’s internal diameter is .784 inches, full choke and so marked with the single asterisk. There weren’t all that many of these circulating to begin with, and even fewer have survived with no cracks and alterations.
