From its exclusive duck hunting owner in nearby McNairy County Tennessee comes this serviceable Browning BPS Hunter chambered in 12 gauge. Manufacturer was B.C. Miroku of Nankoku Japan; Importer and warrantor is Browning Arms of Morgan, Utah. From its NM serial number date code, it was manufactured in 1990. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch and inch shells interchangeably. Construction is steel metal parts with the exception of the anodized alloy trigger and housing; and graphite based stock and forend. Steel magazine tube holds 4 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells, or 3 rounds of 3 inch with the adapter or plug removed. Barrel is 26 inch Invector ®, and the choke tube is a three slash .715 Improved Cylinder, OK for lead, steel, or even slugs. This is the older type choke tube system, of course, the Invector. An Invector Plus choke tube will not fit this barrel, because it is not backbored. It is capable of handling rifled slugs, where a back bore current version is not. It will accept original old type Winchester 12 gauge Winchoke tubes, and Mossberg 12 gauge Accu-Chokes. Rib is .315 wide eight post, .315 high at the midsection, with replacement Tru-Glo fiber optic Ray-bar type front sight. Receiver is smooth engraved lateral 37 type bottom ejection, with top tang safety that is ambidextrous. The buttstock has a 3/4 inch right hand cant, so it will not be southpaw friendly without some stock work. Length of pull is 14 1/2 inches from the smooth face of the .355 anodized trigger to the end of the 1 inch factory recoil pad. Forend is checkered molded semi-beavertail walnut. Weight empty is 7 pounds 11 ounces, with center of gravity at the breech face. Finish was originally smooth surface bright blue and gloss finish walnut. Surface detractions on this BPS Stalker are extensive. Vent Rib has pressure waves in its back three rib sections. Barrel and receiver have extensive finish loss and some heavy freckling, but with less than 10% surface pitting by our estimate. Stock has heavy scouring, but with only two short lower tang cracks behind the receiver. These do not show any separation. Wood has extensive dinging and scouring. We classify this BPS as Fair, perhaps Good, 50 to 60 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, tube threads, and mechanism are all bright and clean. From the moderate operation wear to the slide arm connectors, and from our knowledge of this shotgun’s only consumer owner, we estimate it has been fired fewer than 1000 times.
