Here is an excellent representative of Smith & Wesson's state of the art service pistol chambered in the venerable 9mm Luger caliber. This particular pistol is called a Kit, because it has two barrels. The second barrel is a 4 1/2 inch with 1/2-28-2A threads on its muzzle, 1/4 inch longer than its standard service barrel. This particular pistol was never out of Smith & Wesson corporate custody until we got it. It has performed as one of S&W’s showgirls at Law Enforcement shows. Original SKU was 150922; this one, however, is numbered 650922. The 6 prefix indicates its demo status. It comes in its original box with its instruction manual, S&W advertising flyers, two fired brass envelopes dated from 2012, one for each barrel; and a never executed factory registration card. It has both its original 17 shot factory magazines, its chamber protector, protective Nox paper, and a total of three interchangeable back strap pieces for the grip frame that allow the shooter to alter the grip circumference. Surface detractions are negligible. We rate this M&P 9 as Mint in Box; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean, and we do not believe this pistol was fired since it left the factory last November. As far as specs on this variant, Weight empty, no magazine, is 24 oz; weight fully loaded will be a bit over 35 ounces. Overall length is 7 1/2 inches or 7 3/4 with the threaded barrel; 5 1/2 inch height; and very nice thin 1.2 inch width. The Standard Barrel’s length is 4 1/4 inches with a 6.4 inch sight radius. This pistol, like all M&Ps, is full time double action, striker fire action, with a very consistent 6.5 pound trigger pull that only travels .300 inches from rest to fire and resets in only .14 inches. Frame is Zytel Polymer, and barrel and slide are Black Melonite finished stainless. Sights are conventional three dot, dovetailed into the slide. The frame, as the photos show, incorporates a Picatinny Weaver type rail for light and laser mounting. The M&P series takes all comers for ease of handling, positive feel, and reliability and consistency under the most adverse field and combat situations. This variant does not have a Magazine Safety; that is, it will fire from a loaded chamber even when a magazine is not in battery. Replacement pricing on this pistol in our area is well above $800.00, and there aren’t any. We’re offering the exact M&P 9 in the photos, however, complete with two barrels, total of two magazines, and three grip pieces, all for only $589.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts.
