A UNIQUE and MUSEUM QUALITY ALVIN WHITE MASTERPIECE.
COLT NEW FRONTIER SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER ... 44-40 caliber ... 7 1/2" barrel ... never fired.
This is a one-of-a-kind creation by the most famous American 20th century firearms engraver. The revolver was commissioned through R.L. Wilson of American Master Engravers Inc. and complete artistic freedom was granted to Alvin White to produce a gun with the motif that reflected what he considered important to his life.
The barrel, frame, cylinder and grip straps are covered with deep relief floral scroll engraving. Some scroll is inlaid with gold and there is extensive gold inlaid border work. White's signature is along the backstrap below a silver inlaid bobcat. The topstrap has a gold inlaid bust of Alvin White with the initials "AAW" below. The left recoil shield features a gold inlaid Grizzly bear head and a Kentucky flintlock rifle is inlaid along the ejector rod housing. The pistol comes with an extra, unfluted, cylinder that has many gold inlays of items that were important to Alvin White. These everyday items include a chasing hammer, set of engraving tools, a teapot with his wife's initials, candle sticks, engraver's vise, a Japanese tsuba, a bowie knife and the famous Rampant Colt. The grips are flawless ivory and are relief carved with the American eagle on the left and an oval checkered panel on the right.
The revolver comes with its original baize lined case. Also included (but not pictured) is a beautiful, professionally built, lighted display case with a rotating pedestal and full description of the pistol's history. (Display size: 31"W x 32"D x 87"T) This revolver is photographed on pages 796 & 797 of the latest edition of 'Colt Engraving'. This gun also come with a package of documentation and letters between the parties involved during the planning stages of the project.
