Here is a very attractive specimen of Sturm Ruger’s workhorse New Model Blackhawk in .357 Magnum caliber. This particular revolver comes to us from its original California resident owner, and it was manufactured during the Election Year of that most famous Californian, President Ronald Reagan. This is a New Model Blackhawk with the transfer bar safety device, only the sixth year of production of this variant. Barrel is 4 5/8 inch, 1:16 Right Hand Twist blue steel, with blue steel main frame, cylinder, and internal parts; and an alloy ejector rod housing, all mounted on a black semi-gloss alloy XR-3 grip frame. Hammer is classic whiteside Ruger spur type, and grips are the original Factory Walnut Panels. Type, of course, is Single Action Only Revolver; weight empty is 42 ounces; capacity 6 rounds of .357 Magnum or .38 Special Ammunition; serrated ramp front sight and windage and elevation adjustable black blade rear sight. This revolver’s surface detractions are minimal, only cylinder rotation marking and faint small areas of whitening from holster and surface contact. We rate it as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent, 85 to 90 percent vicinity. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. From its condition and our conversations with its exclusive consumer owner, we estimate it has been fired fewer than 500 rounds, mostly with .38 Special, no rounds at all for the Blackhawk, one of the most rugged firearms ever made.
