Serial ES00296 features a 26-inch Lilja (per original owner, not marked) heavy straight taper barrel with muzzle diameter of .950-inch and recessed target crown. The action is bedded at the lug with the balance of the barrel perfectly floated. The trigger is a Recknagel single set, quite superfluous as the conventional pull is so crisp it crowds hard on perfect. The Empire Rifles action incorporates a full-length Mauser claw extractor for true controlled round feeding and extraction, along with a Model 70-type three-position wing safety and elegant bottom metal with an inside-the-bow release. The stock is carefully fashioned from a AAA-grade claro blank shot through with heavy cross-grain. An elegant English cheekpiece is accented with a proper shadow line and the 26 LPI checkering wraps around the benchrest forend and covers both sides of the pistol grip. Additional details include an ebony pistol grip cap and Howell-type inletted sling swivel studs. Weight is 12.4 pounds with rings and LOP is 14.2 inches over a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Metal finish is about 99%, with only a few light handling marks on the barrel. Wood is about 98% due to several small impressions on bottom of forend near tip as well as the stock toe. Price firm.
