This fine little shotgun was never serialized; armorer’s marks P K O on the under side of the barrel indicates that it left the Savage Factory in Massachusetts either in 1959 or in 1963. We estimate the earlier date from our knowledge of its late exclusive owner, a Wildersville / Parker’s Crossroad Tennessee Cotton Farmer who most likely bought it new from the late Mr. Monk Anderson in Lexington, Tennessee. Buttstock and forend are walnut; trigger guard is stamped blue steel; and breech lever is pot metal alloy, positioned behind the hammer. Savage Stevens model is 94D, manufactured from 1929 until the late 1980s. The anodized black receiver has hand contact carry wear on its lower right side; apart from that, wear is only moderate. Once glossy finish is a nice even oil finish. We rate this little .410 as Very Good, 80 – 85 percent range; photos, however, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Chambering is .410 gauge, 3 inch, and the muzzle diameter is .397 full choke, 26 inch barrel. This little Western Auto shotgun weights only 5 pounds 8 ounces, center of gravity under the middle of the receiver. Buttstock length of pull is an adult size 14 1/4 inches, and our farmer owner carried it when he was in his 60s and 70s.
