This specimen weighs only 22.0 ounces empty; this is an ideal size carry revolver for those of us who are comfortable with the K and L size revolvers. Barrel length is 2 1/2 inch full shroud with conventional taper to the barrel section of the shroud. Sights are fully adjustable rear with black V-notch, and high visibility fiber optic front sight. Service size .312 smooth combat trigger matches well with the .375 service hammer. Note the flame shield directly above the barrel's forcing cone to prevent frame cutting on the top strap. This revolver's frame, like all other Smith & Wesson Revolvers, is drilled for accessory bases on its top strap underneath the sight. Note the absence of the Scandium Logo on the side plate; that logo appears to be reserved for Sc variants. This one has a stainless steel cylinder, where the Sc has a titanium cylinder. From personal experience, the stainless cylinder cleans rather easily, and the titanium cylinder on the Sc variants is impossible to get clean. Cylinder capacity is 6 rounds on this variant, S&W Product Code #150647. This revolver compares favorably with the Night Guard variants. A person loses one round of capacity, but also sheds 2.5 ounces of weight, since the Night Guard weighs in at factory-spec 24.5 ounces. Most important, this 386, #150647, compares favorably on price.
