Here is an ordinary, but very early production, Charter Undercover .38 Special Revolver. From its 41000 range serial number, it was manufactured in early 1969. Our late proprietors exchanged a 38000 range Charter in June of 1969. This Charter comes to us from its home domicile of Dickson County, Tennessee, up near Nashville. Type on this variant is traditional double- and single-action revolver with casehardened serrated spur hammer, and matching smooth faced combat trigger. Safety is internal transfer bar that guards against accidental discharges if the revolver is dropped. Grips are factory Charter walnut magna style service size; capacity is 5 rounds of .38 Special standard or +P ammunition. Unlike its lightweight competitors Smith & Wesson and Taurus, the main frame on Charters is steel, with an alloy grip frame / trigger guard assembly. Weight empty is 16 ounces. This specimen shows moderate, normal duty wear, sight scouring on its grip panels, cylinder rotation whitening, forward edge whitening, and small amounts of freckling on its blue finish. We rate it as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity. It is excellent mechanically; bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent.
