For sale is a Mauser Luger S/42 Pre-WWII semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm. This fine pistol comes with (1) 8 round factory magazine. The gun itself features a 4 inch barrel, fixed sights, wood grips (not original), matte blued, double action and safety. The overall condition of this gun is very good. The locking bolt, sear bar, top edge of the sear bar safety and the back of the rear toggle link are marked “73”. The number "73" is marked on (7) different exterior components of this pistol. The left side of the frame under the safety is marked “GESICHERT”. The left side of the receiver at the chamber is marked “7073”. The right side of the receiver is marked with two winged eagles over “63” and a large winged eagle, with another large winged eagle on the right side of the barrel at the receiver. This is shown on line 30, pg. 236 of Luger Variations by H.E. Jones for a S42 G Luger, while the S/42 Date Luger supposedly used an “Eagle / 655” mark. The “63” Waffenamt code was used for Mauserwerke in Oberndorf from 1935-1939, for S/42 G and S/42 Date Lugers. The “655” Waffenamt code for Mauserwerke didn’t begin use until 1939, so Line 31’s statement that this was used for S42 Date Lugers should have read S42 Date Lugers made in 1939 or later. The top of the receiver at the chamber is marked “1936” and the front of the frame under the barrel is marked “7073 / h”. The bottom rear of the barrel is marked “7073 / 8,82”. . This is an very rare Pre-WWII pistol.
