We believe this Italian replica of the Colt 1862 Pocket Navy Model revolver is Pietta manufacture, but Armi San Marco, Uberti, and Pedersoli have all made them. This one’s date code is BU, 2004 manufacture, and it is a very well made revolver. Construction is blued steel barrel assembly, trigger and cylinder, with casehardened main frame, hammer, and loading lever. Grip frame is two piece brass, with Italian Rosewood grip panels. Barrel is Octagonal, 1/4 inch across the flats, 5 1/2 inch with 7 groove left hand 1:36 rifling. Chambering is .36 Black Powder caliber, uses black powder or credible substitutes like Pyrodex®. Ignition is #10 Revolver Percussion Caps. Cylinder capacity is 5 rounds of .375 diameter round balls or similar size conical projectile. Sights are threaded brass post front, with notched hammer face rear sight.
Weight empty is only 25 3/8 ounces; and the original Colt was the Airweight Chief’s Special of its era. This revolver comes to us from a collector in Kansas and it is immaculate, possibly never fired. Surface detractions are minimal, principally a small streak or scratch on the side of the cylinder, and faint wear on the grip panels. It has no rust indications and only moderate toning to the brass grip frame. We rate this 1862 Pocket as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos ought to suffice so that our shoppers can judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Hammer travels an additional 5 to 10 degrees on all five positions after the cylinder times into place. Trigger pulls at a crisp 2 pounds with no felt creep. Replacement price on this revolver is upwards of $400 in our area. We’re offering this one, however, for only $ 219.00.
