American Pocket Derringer Guns > Pistols > Antique (Pre-1899) Pistols - Perc. Misc.
Description: American pocket percussion pistol/derringer. A good condition low-cost period copy of the Bacon, Marston 'Union Arms', and Allen & Thurber single shot, center hammer percussion pistols of the 1840's. Listed in Flayderman 9th edition, p.403 as 'Type B' by unknown maker. This one the 'peanut' size, 5" in length and .32 cal. Inspector mark 'S' on LHS frame, serial # 408. In good, working condition - trigger spring a replacement .Original snapped, trigger spring comes with pistol for those who can make springs. Stamped bolster supporting the hammer is recessed - ask for photo - may be period replacement, or manufacturing flaw - these were made to be low cost! I have seen these with S/N's from the 160's to the 1,970's, so at least 2,000 made?
