3 New Sauer 101s–SHOT Show 2015

Authors Sam Trisler SHOT Show 2015

Sauer had three new rifles in their 101 line for us to check out at SHOT Show this year.  The 101 line is Sauer’s lower cost line. That is not to say that these are cheaply made, far from it.  The stocks and the finish are usually a bit more pedestrian than the higher end lines, but they shoot like the best of the best.

The 101 Artemis is a new addition to the Sauer line that is targeted towards female and youth shooters.  The stock is a bit shorter to fit a smaller framed person.  It is also one of the lightest in the 101 line, coming in under 6.5 lbs.  The Artemis also features a new safety that is designed for easy operation for first time shooters.  Look at the photos for details. The Artemis is offered in 7 different calibers from .243 Win. to 9.3×62.

The Alaska is also a new model for Sauer. Although it looks like it is in stainless, it is not.  That is a protective coating of Ilaflon for corrosion protection. The stock on the Alaska is laminated and features an adjustable comb. The barrel is also threaded. The Alaska is offered in 12 calibers ranging from .22-250 t0 .338 Win. Mag.

The last of the new 101 Sauer’s is the Scandic.  Unlike the other two, the Scandic comes with iron sights.  These are not your typical sights–they are big and bold for fast acquisition.  I tried them out on the show floor and they are very fast to pick up.  The Scandic has a laminated stock and weighs about 6.5 pounds. It is chambered in the same 7 calibers as the Artemis.

The selling price for the 3 rifles should be in the $1,500-$1,800 range.
