Adam Carolla Has A Unique Solution to Gun Violence

Authors Current Events S.H. Blannelberry

Comedian Adam Carolla was recently talking to his old friend Dr. Drew about the best way to prevent gun-related violence.

Now Carolla isn’t pro-gun.  He does seem to support, or at the very least acquiesce to, many of the gun control proposals currently being discussed.

Yet, the podcaster is smart enough to recognize that gun control isn’t going to solve the problem.  That background checks and buybacks are ultimately useless.  Why does he support em then?

Probably because he doesn’t own any firearms and could care less about the 2A.  It’s easy to be in favor of regulating a right that you never (or rarely) exercise.

Carolla’s solution to violence in general, not just “gun violence,” though has nothing to do with gun control.  It has to do with… well, I won’t spoil it for you.

Just give a gun to every one and make the government pay for it and pay for all the safety training and lets ser if there another mass killing or robbing others or really any gun crimes . go back to western time it would work..

He could care less or he couldn’t care less. There’s a big difference between the two phrases, differences that should be obvious to anyone who thinks about what they are saying or reading. I’m pretty sure the author means he could not care less, there being no level of care lower than his present one. If he could care less, there’s room below his present level of care to which to lower, until he reaches the bottom of care, from which he could not care less.

Wow! Thank you! I do wish people would think about what they’re saying. I read that here ( again) and immediately thought what you thought. I he COULD care less means that he at least does care a little because he COULD CARE LESS, if he doesnt care at all means he couldn’t care less because he already does not care AT ALL so he cant care less than none.
I personally would have never commented on someone’s lack of analytical thought and not having command of the language they claim to speak but since you did I will congratulate you.
Everyone, and I do mean everyone who puts this saying in a piece uses it that way. Sad.

These two idiots talking about how important it is for kids to have dads (which is true) are the same moral degenerate pied pipers that constantly preach to kids that they should just go get a bunch of condoms and have at it. They never even consider the wisdom of chastity and abstinence, but instead recommended the precise activity that results in producing unattached dads (and fatherless kids).

    Adam,

The best progressive response I’ve ever heard when you talk about fathering. Finally something to do with core and root causation instead of pseudo symptoms. The other things you mention are useless. As a therapist I see what either abusive or neglectful fathers create. The other question I will leave with you: what is the source of evil in the world and how can you control evil? Evil is the core symptom that no one talks about. How do we address evil? Creating wellness in fathers/parents might be a start but what is it that creates wellness so that evil is transcended? I’ll give you a hint: it’s nothing the government can do. Laws create guidelines but do not transform the inner person so that they live by them. Ultimately, we can’t control anyone else-except somewhat by force, something progressives are good at. This is why the Founders created the second amendment, to give people their created right to resist evil. For every homicide, there are at least 74 events where a person holding a gun (not necessarily using it) has saved lives.

Good thought Adam but like Gun Control it’s unrealistic. The subject of fatherhood is subjective in child rearing as all Dad’s are not good father’s. From child molestation and abuse to absentee Dad’s either by work, divorce or by choice.
I agree that Dad’s can have a positive impact in the lives of their children with good child rearing and teaching them the power of making good life decisions etc. BUT; With years spent in effort to raise good and decent human beings, a lot of peoples kid’s are going to take drugs, join gangs, make bad decisions and then one day lose it and hurt others. Guns are dangerous in the wrong hands but so are knives, bow and arrows, baseball bats and hey how about a fist or foot? Or maybe a 245lb. male attacker against a 130 female with no weapons. Just bad intent from bad human beings to cause harm, robbery rape, murder or all of the above. There are great examples of human behavior and then as we all know all to well, there are many bad bad people walking our streets everyday. Not all people know how to or possess the capability to protect themselves physically against one not to mention several attackers intent on beating you to death because you happened to look their way or are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
My Father?? A great man who taught me to know the difference between right and wrong. Who taught me how to fight in the ring and how to defend myself in hand to hand confrontations. Who taught me how to use and respect weapons, guns, bows, knives and how to hunt and fish with them.

A Gun is just one tool in your personal defense arsenal that can place an underdog on a more level playing field against the opposition. I don’t know how many times it needs to be said to the anti-gunners but I’ll say it again; Guns Don’t Kill People; Bad People Kill People and It Isn’t Always With A Gun!

Wrap it up with some eye opening stats:
From the CDC there are nearly 12,000 gun related homicide’s a year in the U.S; Nearly two thirds (62%) of firearm deaths in the U.S. are “SUICIDES”; That leaves “4,560” or an average of TWELVE (12) people “PER DAY” that die from gun related homicides. Opposed to the 20 people per day that die by a self inflicted gun shot or suicide. If they didn’t have a gun they would have used another method like drug overdose for example.

Auto accidents; Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year. That’s an average of 3,287 deaths “PER DAY.”

Drugs; According to the National Center for Health Statistics, estimates for the first nine months of 2016 deaths caused by all drugs had already reached an all time high of 52,404. That’s an average of 16 deaths “PER DAY.” Of those, more than 33,000 were attributed to opioid drugs including legal prescription painkillers as well as illicit drugs like heroin and street fentanyl. That’s an average of 90 people per day that die from opioid’s, painkillers, heroin and fentanyl. 106 PER DAY total.

Last but not least is Smoking; Cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year in the United States, including more than 41,000 deaths resulting from secondhand smoke exposure. That’s an average of 1,315 deaths “PER DAY.”
I don’t know about you but doesn’t it seem like there are a lot more important issues that the Anti-gunners and Lefties need to re-focus on? Just thinking out loud…

It seems only one of the commenters here has listened to the video. *His* solution isn’t one of the typical gun control regulations you hear spewed from the left all the time (although he’s not against them). As Dr Motown commented below, skip forward about 9 minutes and you’ll hear something that actually makes sense.

  • Jay October 27, 2017, 10:04 am

You can’t regulate and control Stupidity! You can’t have laws without enforcing them! So if the government politicians can make laws but not enforce them or abide by them why should anyone else! All laws should apply equally to each and every citizen but sadly do not!

Adam lives in a gas filled world of California – Stop breathing – Stupid man!

  • Mr Sparkles October 27, 2017, 8:54 am

    1) the problem is not guns it is people who feel they can impose their will on you up to and including whether you live. 2) never take advice from someone who has no frame of reference. Someone who does not shoot for fun or sport has no business offering advice on guns and gun safety. Kinda like getting medical advice from an alcoholic or sex advice from a nun.

  • joefoam October 27, 2017, 8:46 am

All the crimes committed with guns are regulated: murder, robbery, assault. Doesn’t seem to stop them, how would gun regulation be any different.

    • Brian August 9, 2018, 10:46 am

Because criminals will actually follow gun laws.

Sarcasm if you didn’t get it

Thank you! People who can care less annoy me. Especially when it’s someone that gets paid to write.

  • Dr Motown October 24, 2017, 7:08 am

Generally like Adam’s opinions, but he’s dead wrong on this. Why would you support some “feel-good” legislation that won’t prevent anything? STOP SAYING “OK!” Fast forward to about the 9:00 mark and skip the other BS….

  • Steve in Detroit October 23, 2017, 5:51 am

Being in the only major U.S. City that is actually north of Canada (Detroit MI, look at a map) what they say about travel to and from Canada is true, If US Custom’s Immigration Control did what Canada did the World would be complaining. The Gun regulation talk is BS.
