The American gun owning public is being duped again, just like we were duped the two weeks before the election when we were convinced that Romney was ahead by several percentage points. The media, including our “friends” at Fox, Drudge, and other “conservative” outlets, are attempting to sell us the concept that the “assault weapon ban” legislation can’t pass, and this is a lie. We are told that Bill Clinton sternly warned his party that they will be punished in the mid-terms, and that the NRA is “too powerful” for any real legislation to make it through congress. This is also a lie. Behind our backs, the political machine is crafting public opinion in what have become the majority voting blocks to convince national and state legislators that they are safe for the next election… and they are safe. American gun owners didn’t show up in force for the last election, and we are not feared as a voting block any longer. Don’t be a fool and believe it when they tell us we can’t lose. We are going to get beaten again if we don’t act. And this time it isn’t a slippery slope. This time they are going to outlaw an entire class of guns with no loopholes.

If you are on the GunsAmerica email list, or you are clicking in from the website, you are probably a gun owner of some type (or you are desperately trying to buy your first gun before they ban them), and you may feel that we are “preaching to the choir.” But there is also a 90% chance that YOU HAVE NOT CONTACTED YOUR LEGISLATORS to let them know that you are strongly against any kind of weapon ban, or any increase in our national or state gun laws whatsoever.

You are silent, because you think it is someone else’s job. But it is your job, and you have to make yourself be heard. Call and email your legislators today.

The NRA came into this fight almost a month late and their response has been anything but well received. Even though President Obama’s kids are guarded by armed guards in schools, and even though Dianne Feinstein actually possesses one of San Francisco’s few concealed carry permits, the very sane suggestions of the NRA have fallen on mostly deaf ears. The media , including Fox, has beat up Wayne Lapierre and is inflating every shooting incident in the country right now, trying to keep the gun control energy as high as possible, so that the legislators will have the courage to vote against the wishes of the majority of their constituents. The only way they can do this is their constituents, meaning YOU, remain silent.

You must call and write your legislators today. Let them know that you know who they are. You know their name, and you will remember how they voted come election day. Don’t just use the web form, and don’t just call their Washington, DC numbers. Call their local numbers and tell their staffers that you and ever gun owner you know will be watching them, and funding their opponents if they vote for this ineffective and stupid legislation. At some point you have to take action, and you have to go that extra step, and now is the time.

Most gun owners, like most of America, are ignorant to world history. Most people don’t know that Kristallnacht, the famous “night of broken glass” in Germany in 1939, was actually a gun roundup. It is considered the beginning of the Holocaust, but what most people leave out is that Hitler published sweeping gun confiscation legislation on November 11, 1938, the day after the famous Nazi rioting. You will find the same gun confiscations in the pages of the dictatorial and murderous takeovers of China, Cambodia, Ukraine and throughout history. The first thing every government spinning out of control does is register the guns. Then they round up the guns. Then they declare martial law, putting the military in charge. Do you feel like America has been heading in the right direction? Do you wonder why “prepping” has become more popular than NASCAR? The government knows that America is a powder keg waiting to pop, and they are trying to use a manufactured crisis to take away your guns.

In President Obama’s speech, which took place right in the middle of SHOT Show of course, he played to “law abiding gun owners,” specifically calling out to our petition that we all signed at the beginning of this crisis. The President actually had the nerve to say that this wasn’t about politics and the tactics of a dictatorial regime, despite the fact that rifles, including AR-15 and other magazine fed rifles, are only used in a tiny percentage of gun violence. He even admitted this during the debates. He was appealing to middle class casual gun owners and hunters. They want us to turn on ourselves. They want the old hunting crowd to say “I don’t know why anyone would need a gun like that,” or “why would you need a magazine with more than 7 rounds.” They want the Ipad generation to fall into lockstep with their ideals, and for the old hunting crowd to back them up. We saw it at SHOT Show. Hunters are historically traitors to the 2nd Amendment, and this will be no different.

The people who outvoted us this past November don’t believe in the Constitution. The Ipad generation believes what they see on TV. While all those TV personalities hire armed guards and carry guns themselves to protect their own life and property, they are building public opinion against our 2nd Amendment freedom to keep and bear arms. The Ipad generation doesn’t understand the nature of mankind, and the implicit design of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Holocaust was 60 years ago, not 600 years ago YOU TOUCHSCREEN ADDICTED IDIOTS. It isn’t the Jews they are going to round up this time (yet). It is freedom loving Americans that are the subversives and the terrorists, and they will need to round us up first. This isn’t about President Obama. It isn’t about what happens next month or next year. The 2nd Amendment must be preserved if our freedom is to be preserved. If we give anything today it will be the next thing we give at the next crisis, then the next thing we give at the next crisis, until we are all defending ourselves with airguns like they do in European Union today. Please contact your legislators today.

Ok, I write about 5 letters a week to congressmen, senators, state politicians, judges, etc., and numerous other letters to the media, in support of our 2nd Amendment rights. And I don’t even own a AR-15 or “assault weapon”. No, due to family considerations, I am stuck living in one of those areas that doesn’t tolerate “evil” guns. I know the real reason for the 2nd Amendment is to safeguard our liberty – against ALL enemies of freedom. And to do that, we have to have access to weapons just as capable of modern militaries.

It burns me that I talk to so many other gun owners at the range, who have made their minds up that this guy, or that guy “doesn’t need that gun”. The media and the liberals, commies, socialists, and statists who think they are better than the rest of us, and want to take away our rights have brainwashed many gun owners. Wake UP America!

Finally, I have to say something about the NRA, and NRA ILA, which I financially supported for many years. These people don’t really care about our gun rights. They care about their positions, power, and salary. Why don’t they ever promote PROACTIVE legislation to restore or safeguard our Constitutional rights BEFORE these crises (like Newtown) occur? No, they are always playing defense when the crises hit. They sit on their duffs the rest of the time.

Gov. Cuomo recently said American gun owners are EXTREMISTS. He said the problem with America, is there is too much debate! This is the mentality we are up against. They think they are better than the rest of us. They think they are Gods on earth. We have to line up against these people and their agendas in unison. It is not going to do ANY of us any good to fight each other, over whose weapons and ammo should be banned or confisicated first. Are WE responsible for Newtown? NO! Don’t you let anyone tell you you are responsible. DEMAND your FULL, UNINFRINGED 2nd Amendment rights!

Jon Doe, 2/6 comment….Yes this is it….Lets do it…..We need people with money and power and people who are willing to put their life on the line….maybe literally…..Everyone please read what this man is saying….is it not what is in your heart? Starts now! How bout some ideas on how we can form up and do this.

  • Gary Morrow February 7, 2013, 9:14 am

After reading the comments by everyone here, one thing that stands out and is, I think, what the administrator is trying to put forth. We as a people, Americans, cannot agree on anything, therefor we are ineffective. To me its what our tombstone will say when all the federal laws have been beaten into the ground by those who are supposed to be inforcing them, our elected officials, and the illegal immigrants who will be made citizens, which Fl. congressman Rubio is now tiptoeing around with the what else can we do logic, and our elected officials who continue to make their deals behind closed doors finally bury you and I. The day of reckoning for our lack of action is not coming but is here. These same jackasses, who god only knows who really put them in office, are quite literally trashing our children and grandchildrens future. While we can’t agree on anything, they lie at the drop of a hat, and the media who instead reporting the truth pushs these lies into the realm of fact. Does anyone remember the muslim million man march on Washington D.C.?
I beleive we, Americans/Patriots, agree on the major points. July 4th, 2013…. We the Americans/Patriots, 5 Million of us, march on Washington D.C. with our “assault” weapons slung on our shoulders and show them that the silent majority is not going to stand by any longer while they continue to whore our HOMELAND. A third polictical party, no, I know what your thinking, Tea Party, BULLSHIT. The “PATRIOT Party”. A real party with the basis of reverting our Bill of Rights and Constitution back to where it was at the end of WWII. A petetion to that effect with specifics signed by 30 million AMERICANS to elect our canidates to office and a oversight board to enforce their behavior. The removal of all illegal persons from our country no matter what nationality. The fortifying of our borders to stop this invasion. Balanceing our budget. Removal of all non citizens from our military…couldn’t beleive that one when I found out a couple of years ago….WHO did that???? Revision to the US citizenship laws in 2004. We need to know so they can never have any decision in our government again.
I love my country as I am sure all of you here do. We must act now. JULY 4TH, 2013. Someone who has the resources please help me get this done. Time is running out. Thank you my fellow Americans.

It is truly sad what this country has become and downright sickening that a lot of people can’t see it.I am 40 years old and was lucky enough to see a better day in this country. But the truth is you can’t blame the younger generation for not being able to see just how bad things are, because they have never seen this country the way it was before the government sold us out. A time when congress represented the majority of Americans, not minorities or big business.A time when people knew their neighbors and helped each other, instead of using each other for a stepping stone , stabbing each other in the back, and suing someone else for just any reason you can think of.These days the guys have to try to be just as pretty as the girls with their designer clothes and such. There may be plenty of males in this country but there surely a shortage of MEN.Hollywood is raising are children. Its time for the good common people to stand up and take this country back.Demand that are voice be heard and show the politicians that we have had enough. The Constitution was written to insure our Rights against exactly what is going on in this country today.Wake up people our freedoms are being taken one by one. Many brave men have fought and died for us to have these Rights. So if you don’t honor and cherish The Constitution, the way our forefathers wrote it not some edited version, then you are part of what is wrong with our country today.

Just wait till they impose a five year licensening and at the end of year five confiscate your guns because they won’t renew your licenses telling you that you don’t need any guns any more. This has happened where I live. Twenty years back this was a pro-gun country and buying a gun of any sort was no problem at all and not concidered unnormal, Beware of the little step taken one at a time. At the end of the road everything’s gone.

I once heard that Obama wanted to end the four year term of the Presidency and go to a life long term in office and that he wants to be the first one. I believe he is working toward that. If you noticed, he fowled up the private and public swearing in statement for the Office of President for his second term. Because he did not clearly state the swearing in statement, I do not believe he is actually president. I believe he purposely messed up the swearing in statement as a slam against America, her people and what she stands for. I, like others, believe that the first step toward losing most or all your rights, is the elimination of your guns so you cannot defend yourself. What has always been in America, in being a safe country, state by state, city by city, is not anymore and is nearing being gone all together if things continue, in reference to gun control. It is fact, whether you agree or not, guns don’t kill people, animals, or cans on a stump. People kill people and animals using a gun. The gun just sits in a corner and will never move unless people use them to defend themselves. Nobody, but nobody can control what some dummy with a screwed up mind will do. There is truely a hugh reason why America’s enemies make no attempt to envade us. It’s not because our Military will be able to defend us, but rather because they will not only face our Military, but they know they will face every American with a gun. There has already been an enormouse reduction in availabilty of ammo to support the guns currently owned by Americans. We all will do what we feel to be the best thing to do, so I will not push anyone to go against their beliefs. But I do ask you listen closely to what the politicians say, whether it be the president, congressman, senator, governor, conty commissioner, mayor or councilman. Don’t just listen to “what” they say, but what they “don’t say.” If you are a gun owner and do want to maintain your gun rights, write your congress and senator representatives and let them know your thoughts, DO NOT WAIT. I believe in the majority rule concept, I just hope the majority speaks up and is right.

  • John McClain February 4, 2013, 10:02 pm

The sole purpose of the right to bear arms is the defense of life, liberty and property. These are the only things which make us free. Without the surety of owning these, not possessing them, renting them, having them, but flat out, live or die owning, we are slaves.
Every one of you out there who has served in the Armed Forces, whether a tour, a few, or a career, you all know exactly what slavery is, there is no question what you must abide by when you “serve” government. While we own arms, we can make government serve us, or leave. It we ever fail to maintain exactly the sort of weapons of war they are specifically detailing for ban, we no longer have a servant government, but a master.
The Second Amendment has nothing at all to do with hunting, nor with sporting arms, it is precisely and specifically “for the security of the Free State”. The government can never be trusted to maintain freedom, every generation of man has witnessed their own holocausts, “The Militia” are “The People”, and we alone can be trusted with our own freedom and its complete defense.
There is no authority in congress to pass a law regarding the keeping and bearing of arms, none except that we ignore our duty at our own peril and allow them to pi** on the constitution, suggesting the constitution is the source of the right, and not merely the enumeration of a Natural or God Given Right, as the whole of the Bill of Rights is.
As the Constitution was written, some six States, North Carolina leading, refused to ratify it without the enumeration of the foremost of our “Natural or Endowed Rights”. Congress could even go as far as ratifying the constitution, if they were able to manage to finagle that big a swindle, and it would not matter a whit. The Rights are Endowed and while God Reigns, and we stand upon our National Creed, the Declaration and our Constitution, we have such rights as we remain willing to live or die in the defense of, and those alone.
Each and every one of the fifty eight members of the Continental Congress made their own comments on the second amendment in particular, and the bill of rights in general, and every statement defends the full rights of all martial arms, “all the terrible instruments of war”, to quote Thomas Jefferson, and he well included cannon, rockets, explosives, bombs, do we not sing of such things in our National Anthem? Are they only speaking of the fireworks we depict battle with, and not the arms themselves? If the “rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air” were giving proof of anything, it was the fact war was little different at that exact time than it is today.
We are regaled with statements such as “the founders never envisioned such weapons, they were considering the rifles of their own times”. Those founders were among the leading members of a society which built this Nation. We are surrounded with fools, and they don’t have a clue that the founders would have tossed all such idiots out were they to hear such tripe. Is not Ben Franklin still among our most celebrated inventors? Didn’t Jefferson hold some 150 odd patents for his own inventions? What of George Mason, George Washington for that matter?
If we allow them to steal our rights, we deserve to live as slaves, we will have surrendered when there never was any cause. Guns or chains, our choice.
    Semper Fidelis,

When I saw the title of this article, I immediately thought, “Yes, Americans are fools for paying $1500 for a bare bones DPMS Oracle.” However, I was disappointed to see that it was nothing more than a load of nonsensical drivel. We get it; gun bans have been detrimental across the globe and are a precursor to fascism. This fact can’t be debated. However, if you think that the Assault Weapons Ban in its current form has even an iota of a chance of passing, YOU are the fool. In the Senate, Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), and Mark Pryor (D-AK) have all voiced their discontent with the ban and do not support it. Even Harry Reid has refused to sponsor it and has acknowledged that it probably won’t be put up for a vote in its current form. Stop demagoguing the conversation with all of this alarmist rhetoric and try reading the news sometime. People like you are the reason that it will be over a year before AR-15 production can catch up with demand.

I’m and old man and I pride myself on the History of the World, and to my knowledge there has only been one other man to bring about the change that we are seeing happen at this time and his name was Adolf Hitler. When you use children in your warfare to gain control of the only thing that could stop him from running over everyone in this once great country, and you form a SS Militia to do your bidding then you are in a position to take over the Government. And this is something I may never live to see but I worry for my Children and Grandchildren life and their country.

Its funny how this article hits the nail right on. Everyone gets cut to the core when the truth is spoken.Look at how everyone responds with there limited perception. Our country is in a scary state and alot of peoples eyes are closed to it.This really isn’t just a gun scare, its the start of a small flame in a dry field just waiting for a strong wind to make it a inferno.Yes the gun violence has escalated greatly in the united states, however taking guns guns or banning them wont solve this. You can only defeat a idea with another idea.Ideas can’t be damaged otherwise.Don’t believe me, then who has the highest crime rates in the U.S. I will answer that. Chicago,New York,California and of course the nations capital itself. What do all of these places have in common? The regular citizens have no firearms. The criminal is not afraid. Furthermore things have changed in the U.S, Our politics have strayed far from where they began. They say one thing and mean another. Its all on their hidden agenda.Feed someone the milk and honey. Then you give them the meat once their accustomed.Thats how it starts…. a slow but very effective process. We are fools if we sit back and say nothing.

    • Administrator February 3, 2013, 11:19 pm

Violent crime, including gun related crime, is actually way down statistically. This is a purely political issue.

  • Daryl February 3, 2013, 8:12 pm

Hi all. It is so interesting to read both sides of this impassioned debate. I am Canadian. We live with onerous restricted weapons regulations. I have a licence for restricted weapons purchase and posession. It is not a quick process to get this licence and the transport and use of our weapons is strictly regulated. That being said. I am wondering if anyone can explain what they feel is the best way to deal with what seems to be a statistically high number of deaths from gun violence in America. Would those criminals revert to some other means? I so, can we be certain the lethality would be as significant??? I understand the fear of gun owners in America. It’s felt here too.

Right now, the British Columbia Chief Fierarms Officer’s office is way behind on processing transfer of ownership registration documents for gun purchasers. This is a direct result of a fear of backlash due to the ‘gun debate’ in the USA. Like America, gun purchases have gone through the roof. Even so, it is not much of a slippery slope to go from where the USA is right now on gun laws to where Canada is, with all these restrictions. Interestingly, we have no problem buying AR’s, etcetera, but magazine volume is limited, as is barrel length (in respect of conceal carry issues which is absolutely not allowed, nor is open carry).

But again, my fundamental question is: what can be done about the level of gun violence in America. Is it a problem that can be dealt with????

In solidarity, Your Canadian gun owning neighbor.

    • Administrator February 3, 2013, 10:10 pm

  • CrustyOldGeezer February 3, 2013, 7:33 pm

Just a few notes on the whole subject of Constitutional awareness.

Before you condemn the militia, consider what America’s founders have to say:

“I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials.”
George Mason (3 Elliot, Debates at 425-426)

“The militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves, … all men capable of bearing arms;…” — Richard Henry Lee writing in “Letters from the Federal Farmer to the Republic”, 1788, page 169.

“Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom?

Congress shall have no power to disarm the militia.

Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American …

The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People.” — Tench Coxe – 1788. ”

That is the historical perspective of the militia.

Therefore I submit that all teachers, administrators, janitorial staff, as well as any other persons who may enter a school building are members of the Militia.

According to Trench Coxe, ” Congress shall have no power to disarm the militia. ”

I have no doubts that in the times of Mr. Coxe, the local ‘school marms’ were well versed in the use of firearms and would have used them willingly to protect and defend the children in her care.

The ‘nra’ is still pushing for the national background check/ gun registration/confiscation database.

And, the ‘nra’ has yet to introduce the ‘background check’ to include all politicians, bureaucrats, judges and political appointed officials and failure to qualify for gun ownership denies them any government serve in any position.

We NEED CORRUPT POLITICIAN CONTROL more than any type of gun control.

You have it pegged! The iPad generation lives in a contrived virtual world in which the facts of history are lost and fantasy reigns. The historical fact that a mass atrocity, that would make the Newtown shooting look feeble, could be executed by a “legitimate” government, is lost in the sea of silly, silly humor and media-fed brainwashing pablum. When even some of my “conservative” friends have asked me “Why does anyone need an AR 15 with a 30 round magazine?” I have a very simple answer:

“If you were in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1943, would you have wanted one? or maybe a hundred of them in your community with, say 200,00- rounds of ammo?”

My simple answer is the entire essence of the founding fathers’ purpose for the 2nd Amendment.
    I rest my case.

  • GA_1500483 February 3, 2013, 1:35 am

I simply agree with ked. He points out that the right to carry a gun or conceal and carry permits are just a way to limit gun possession. If we are truly free we should be able to wear our guns on our hips and not be restricted in the manner of the way we transport them. The laws that let you carry a gun might be the very laws that restrict your gun rights. Also they the government would rather see us fight each other over the political party system them see us understand that even the right to use the toilet is licensed. IE plumbers can not work with out a license. Every thing is licensed and taxed. So don’t be surprised to see that you must pay to be restricted by conceal and carry laws and you must pay over and over for your permit. Great, pay for the right to have less freedom, now that’s a strange thing?

  • GA_1500483 February 3, 2013, 1:14 am

I am purchasing a gun to exercise my right as a citizen of the U.S.A. . I am a Democrat and A liberal. I suggest you look up the First use of liberal after the French revolution to see what it really means. That the first time it was used when the french decided that every citizen could have an education. In the spirit of freedom I think that every citizen should be able to purchase a firearm. Red or Blue Republican or democrat. I would rather see the fight to keep guns about freedom and not about political parties. We all need to remember the basics of our countries founding. After the election we support our government. Who ever is elected is the lawful representative of the people. I never run down the any elected official unless they break the law. We are ruled by law and we are ruled by our willingness to support the democratic process. So we all need to remember that our freedom means freedom for all. So I buy a gun to exercise that freedom . Thank you

    • Administrator February 3, 2013, 10:50 am

Your “liberal” and “Democrat” labels mean nothing, you because you sound like a thinking person you should do a little more research about all the things you believe that are complete bullshit. Does breaking the law once you are in office include attacking constitutional liberties, G-d given liberties, for political gain? Wake up Dana.

  • Xander February 1, 2013, 8:34 pm

    Some thoughts;

    1) Contact your representatives! Even though it seems like it doesn’t help, they actually do pay attention to large numbers of constituents all demanding the same thing. That’s why the anti-gun people have this one down to a science. They actually do it. They take twenty minutes out of a day here and there to actually write or call their three federal representatives. Unfortunately it’s with their own misguided, or worse, carefully thought out, anti-constitutional agenda. So many of them do it that it’s what’s empowering these legislators to continue down this path. And don’t be deceived, it is a path to gun confiscation. Confiscation begins with registration and restriction. The bills to do just that are in Congress right NOW. Look at POPVOX, see for yourself. PLEASE do not allow frustration, apathy, or ignorance stop you from carrying out your most fundamental responsibility. Anybody who knows their own address can find their representatives contact info very easily, especially if they have access to the internet. And you only have to tell them four sentences; “As a voting taxpaying American, I do NOT want ANY more gun control. If you vote FOR more gun-control, I will do everything I can, physically and financially to see that you lose your office and get no further benefits. I have a very long memory and will never forget what position you take on this matter. If you have the courage to defy the waning aministration and stand on the side of freedom and the Constitution you swore to PROTECT, I will continue to support you”.

    2) Not only does the media Not tell the whole truth, they will try misleading you and actually lie when it suits them. While they’re only reporting the “assault weapons” issue several of these bills already introduced include ALL semi-automatic firearms. And there are numerous other bills that are being considered, including one for immediate registration and licensing of ALL handguns.

3)We must quit bickering amongst ourselves, and blaming this group or that one. (whether it’s justified or not) That only helps the enemy. I totally understand the anger and frustration. But we must try to focus all that energy toward our common goal. And whenever you have the opportunity, try to educate the uninformed why we must protect the 2nd ammendment. Most of them have never been told the facts. And we must continue to educate ourselves as well. Don’t rely on the media to tell you everything.

4)Most importantly, do SOMETHING. Don’t cry that the system doesn’t work if you haven’t given it a chance. This applies to the NRA too. It’s our responsibility to let them know what we think. They have a web page and an e-mail address. I have my issues with them too. But credit where it’s due, we’d none of us still have any firarms if not for their efforts over the past 45 years.

    5) The GOP is definately the lesser of two evils, especially in this fight. But they have some serious issues too.
We, the American citizenry, need a political party with a platform founded solely on protecting our beloved Constitution and which considers America for Americans first and foremost. A party based on honesty, honor, and integrity, demanding any politician abusing their sacred trust not only be impeached, but impaled.

  • KED January 31, 2013, 10:49 pm

THE WHOLE DEAL BEHIND THIS DEBATE IS TO DISARM AND DIVIDE AMERICANS EVEN MORE. THE MAIN POINT THAT ALL AMERICANS NEED TO REALIZE IS THAT IT IS OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT, REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE CHOSE AS INDIVIDUALS TO OWN FIREARMS FOR, THIS RIGHT WAS PUT INTO PLACE TO GAURD AGAINST TYRRANICAL GOVERNMENTS PERIOD. OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS HAVE RESTRICTED THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO MUCH ALREADY, BECAUSE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON FIREARMS IS AN “INFRINGEMENT” PERIOD. IF YOU CAN, WHAT THEY CONSIDER LEGALLY, PURCASE A HANDGUN YOU SOULD BE ABLE TO CARRY IT CONCEALED OR OPEN WITHOUT A SPECIAL PERMIT TO DO SO. ALSO IF THESE PEOPLE WHO THINK THAT OUR GOVERNMENT IS LOOKING OUT FOR OUR BEST INTEREST JUST WAIT UNTIL THEY TAKE AWAY A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT THAT THEY DO BELIEVE IN, AND WHEN THE GOVERNMENT COMES TO KICK IN THEIR DOOR DON’T THINK THAT THEY WILL BE COMING WITH JUST A HAND GUN OR A HUNTING RIFLE, THEY WILL COME WITH ALL THE BEST ASSAULT GEAR AND WEAPONS THAT OUR TAX DOLLARS CAN BUY. IT IS NOT ABOUT HUNTING, SPORT SHOOTING, SELF DEFENCE, OR COLLECTORS OF FIREARMS, “IT IS ABOUT OUR RIGHTS AS AMERICANS.” OUR GOVERNMENT HAS ALREADY STOMPED ON OUR FIRST, SECOND, AND FOURTH AMENDMENT RIGHTS, AND THOSE ARE JUST THE MOST OBVIOUS ONES. STAND UP CALL, EMAIL, AND WRITE LETTERS AND WHEN YOUR REPRESENTATIVES DON’T VOTE ACCORING TO THE CONSTITUTION, VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE REGARDLESS OF PARTY ORIENTATION. YOU WILL HAVE TO DO THE WORK IT TAKES TO KEEP AND RETURN OUR RIGHTS BECAUSE OUR CHECKERS OF THOSE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT OBLITERATIONS HAVE NOT DONE THEIR JOB, AND THOSE CHECKERS ARE THE SUPREME COURT JUDGES. THANKS FOR READING THIS AND HELP ALL OF US TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!

  • Rob January 31, 2013, 1:24 pm

Admin…Thank you for putting yourself out there. It takes balls and commitment because the haters crawl out from their rocks and take aim. This will NOT end well unless the silent majority becomes much louder with actions as well as words. That means contacting the elected folks, talking to your neighbors. It means voting NO MATTER WHAT. Those of you who stayed home last November ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

    • Administrator January 31, 2013, 1:45 pm

Amen to that brother. They can’t say I didn’t warn them though.

    • Greg February 3, 2013, 3:12 am

ROB….ROB…are you home…is anyone in there???

      Oh…OK there you are…

SHUT UP about “VOTING”…do you really believe for 1 second that your vote means anything?????????

The supposed “Electoral vote” elects your President…it does not EVER have to be a vote of and for the people!!!!!

Obama was NOT elected by the people…HE ELECTED HIMSELF!!!! (so to speak)

Noisy, non-thinking, people…Get you guns and ammo bought NOW…the WAR is about to start……….

The sheep are going to get gassed and fried…AGAIN!!!

BUT, I prefer Beef over Sheep anyway…so maybe you should just go climb back into your easy chair and watch TV!

  • Charles January 31, 2013, 6:08 am

Americans as a whole are foolish. They vote for people who line their pockets with money, and screw us all any time they want. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. I don’t see the government taking vehicles from people. If you fall down the stairs, are they going to take them also ? If the would keep our armed forces at home where they belong, and quit fighting everyone elses war, maybe they would see the bigger picture. Every tume you look up, they cut our milatary. They try to take our guns. They want to change the Constitution. When another country decides to take over the United States, I guess the government will use harsh language, because they are to stupid to see the real enemy. Everything is a weapon …….I know this, I’m a retired police officer.

    • John C Updike February 1, 2013, 9:00 pm

Some guy who claims to be an ex-cop makes a bunch of weird assertions, nothing to support it.
By the way, you people know absolutely NOTHING about Kristalnacht. Your “history” is as alien to the facts as you are to reality.
Paranoia is a very serious problem. Get some help for it.
I trust the government we have before I hand it over to a bunch of weirdos who think they can just Rambo their way through the system.
The Second Amendment is NOT a “God-given right,” unless you constitutional scholars forget — the FIRST Amendment says there is NO established religion. The SECOND Amendment comes AFTER that one. God doesn’t give you the right to spout sedition and treason.
      Sorry, you look like fools.

      • Greg February 3, 2013, 3:19 am

In my case John…it’s a self-given right…would YOU like to come and take it?

For you, a government employee…I promise…I won’t use my man made weapons on you…

Doing my part. Just wrote my Congressman and Senators. You can, too. Write your own, or copy mine.

    Contact Congressman here: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/

    Contact Senator here: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

    Dear Elected,

Thank you for your patriotic commitment to our Constitution. The current hype surrounding gun rights is full of much mis-guided and irrelevant noise. The ONLY law relevant to the national discussion is the 2nd Amendment. Please preserve the true intent of the law, which is to guarantee our ability to resist tyranny. Assault rifles and high-capacity magazines are exactly what are needed for doing just that–probably not in our lifetime, but we must leave our children the ability to defend their freedom, which history clearly shows is easily taken away when law-abiding citizens are disarmed. This is NOT about hunting, sporting, or home-defense. This is about the preservation of liberty, something our forefathers understood, and the reason they amended the Constitution a second time.

Please let me know how you intend to vote on upcoming house bills. I vote.

    Sincerely,

    The Voter

sadly, many in our military today are supporters of the left and govt in general. this is the most diversified military in this nation’s history. many are in only for the college benefits, other to get their green card. now that homosexuals will be allowed in we will see even more military support for obama. many police officers will tell you homosexual domestic spats are the most dangerous as these people are very unstable emotionally. the idea of a homosexual being in charge of a nuclear sub or bomber equipped with nukes is something i dread to think of. as far as writing your congressmen please do so. howvever, the average american still does not yet realize just how corrupt our leaders have become. when it comes time they will pocket their bribes and vote to disarm the american people. the even sadder part if that the vast majority of you will comply. if only 10 per cent picked up their firearms and took to the streets none of this would happen. but suburb types have had the fight bred out of them many years ago. good living makes one soft. soft people live in fear. the feds want you disarmed because once disarmed they can go after their enemies on the right. those they don’t round up they will kill as they launch thousands of swat raids looking for theses guns. people are going to die. many more will die however, if we just turn them in. now is the time to form the minutemen brigades. even if the congress fails to approve the legislation obama can still utilize his ace in the hole, the executive order. those of you who refuse to comply must begin to organize and prepare for battle. listen to no one who tells you this isn’t going to happen. i have friends and family who work at the highest levels in DC and they are all telling me gun confiscation will happen no matter how much noise those on the right make. right now they are compiling lists of people they know will be problems. americans have yet to realize that america is now under the control of a communist government. this government will tolerate no backtalk or resistance of any kind. the time for war is now.

  • Roger Rowton January 30, 2013, 11:06 am

If our elected reps ,and the media we support with are time, money and vote try to mislead us into thinking that more gun control legislation can’t pass, then end up voting for it,we need to remember who they are. This administration is very busy trying to intimidate whoever they can’t buy.I put nothing past the so called president, but the rep agreed to vote for the peoples interest .This current adm plans on disarming us regardless of outcome of the vote. Many, If not all know this,or will very soon.So I think a phys fight is coming ,so I guess It depends on who intimidates them more ,the president, or the people. We need to remember who talks tough and thin caved. If their panty wasted let them quit now. There is nothing worse than a traitor, and when were fighting those high cap mags they don’t want us to have and trying to protect our children ,we’ll remember their vote.

  • Randy Miller January 29, 2013, 7:28 am

After reading maybe a third of these posts I had to quit, it is apparent that the infighting has already started, that is what the government wants, attack the messenger, attack the hunter ,attack the trapshooter etc, wheres the ATA they have a huge membership never say a word,( maybe it’s because they don’t want to ban shotguns yet) if they have I missed it and I apologize, see I’m doing it too it’s easy I could go after the NRA, instead of printing three or four mediocre magazines save some money and print one good one It’s time to turn the NFL off turn NASCAR off read a little history ,history repeats itself every hundred years or so, add it up you got enough fingers and toes to just about make it . Granted there are good posts here and a whole lot of stupidity, a lot more than I would expect to find on a firearm website . Politicians say one phone call is worth 1000 constituents if that same principal applies to posts on the computer we as a country are screwed , if you don’t think so read posts that are attached to anything on the web , news ,cars, fuel, etc. LOT of STUPID people out there and for everyone raggin on the Administrater he’s doin pretty good with what he’s got to work with.

  • Tom Jefferson January 29, 2013, 6:24 am

We can all banter back and forth about the problem and point fingers, but one thing we can agree on and that is our own American history. If we don’t do something soon we all are going to all end up like the original Americans of this country. Ask any Indian living on a reservation if they feel their ancestors got a fair deal from our government after all the treaties were broken. Ask them how good a job the US Government has done in providing schooling, jobs, healthcare. Ask them if they could go back in time what would they say to their ancestors. I have a good idea what they would say and I am sure most of you do.

Don’t think for a minute that we are immune from this type of situation every happening today. If you do your doomed to letting history repeat itself. Ask any Japanese living here during WWII if they felt they got a fair deal being rounded up and placed in internment camps for the duration of WWII.

It’s been reported that Hitler was a huge fan of reading stories about the old American west and he was particularly intrigued about how we handled the Indian problem.

Freedom has a very high cost. Socialism and communism are cheap, you just set back and do nothing and let the government do whatever they want.

Don’t get me wrong. I love my country and I am a Vietnam era veteran, but I am a student of history and history does not lie.

We can try to vote the right people into office and write letters to all our elected officials. We can call this Plan A. Does anyone truly believe at this point that it will make a difference? So let’s assume for a minute we see Plan A is not working. What is Plan B? Do we write our letters using big bold magic markers or use larger bolded fonts on our PCs, laptops, etc., to get our point across?

At some point we are all going to have to unite into some form of a cohesive group that agrees on a set of common goals. The NRA has over 4 million members. What if they had 25 or 50 million members.

Folks we have all the power and yet we squander it. What if this cohesive group of 25 million or 50 million members never bought a single product advertised in the lame stream media. This means print journalism and digital. I can guarantee you this would get the attention of all their sponsers when they see their profits plunging. We could literally shutdown the propaganda machine that drives this liberal assault on our freedoms.

    Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

What’s wrong with AMERICA. What will keep someone from kicking your door down, with 3 or 4 other’s, raping your wife, killing your kid’s, and beating you to death with bat’s or club’s .I don’t care how bad you think you are, you cannot whip them, no matter whatyou see on TV. The only thing that keep’s them from doing that is they are afraid you will have a gun. How stupid can you be.

United we Stand Divided we fall!

A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high virtues of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation.
    Thomas Jefferson – [Citizenship]

  • Yankie in LA January 28, 2013, 11:34 pm

Why can’t they leave the American Gun owners alone and start paying attention to the real crooks The Gov. Look at they are being paid and for what. We the people need to take a stand. Lets put all politicians on Min.wages, take away their perks and then put the SOBs that look out for the lower class person and put them on Obama care. Then they would start listening to the people’s voice and get off their asses and help us out with the troubles.

  • Larry Hemmert January 28, 2013, 2:40 pm

I am writing to you about proposed new gun legislation. As a veteran and current full time police officer in Idaho I can tell you that gun violence issues should be focused on prohibiting mental defects and gang members. As a police officer in Idaho I respond frequently to mental subjects and gang members either armed or that have access to firearms. Federal code states that mental defects are prohibited (must be adjudicated by a judge). Currently no useable Federal or state code prohibits a mental subject or gang member from legally purchasing or possessing firearms, ammo and armor. Doctors prescribe mind alerting drugs to schizoids, paranoids, bi-polar and manic people but fail to report the danger to police. Last year as a police officer I dealt with a mental subject that was armed and made threats using 911, and stated he was waiting to shoot arriving police (stated he had on armor). Police have responded to this same person for open carry, (citizens called 911 in fear of him). This person has been placed on mental holds twice by police. On another incident with this same person I discovered he had 2 pistols that were pawned locally and was going to get them. I seized the guns using a police pawn hold. Currently this person is free to have a gun and roam in our society impaired by doctor prescribed mind altering drugs. I referred the case to Chief PA and Fed PA’s for review. Both stated I could not seize this man’s guns and ordered me to release the guns back to him. ATF has been no help. Reference gang members having guns, “The nexus between gangs, guns and drugs is well documented”. Worse, gang members can legally obtain CCW permits. Gang members should be classified as terrorists. Meets the federal and state definition.
As it is a new gun ban would not keep guns out of the hands of mental defects or terrorists.
Share this with your constituents. Respectfully submitted.

First, let me say, I have no political party that I would support…to me they are all crooks! But some of you may find this interesting though I’m not sure of its validity:

A MUST, SEE WHERE YOUR GUNS ARE GOING

    MARLIN FIREARMS CLOSING ITS DOORS

Even if you do not own a gun you need to know this.
I checked this out on “Truth or Fiction” who verified it. I trust them more than snopes.

Marlin Firearms is already closing its doors! They are doing it to us, America ! This needs to be spread to all gun owners and sportsmen/women. We cannot rely on the media to inform us of these types of matters.

Something You May Not Know That Is Happening … Who is buying companies, manufacturing guns??? For the last several years a company called The Freedom Group has been buying up gun and ammunition manufacturers. Some of the companies are B ushmaster, Marlin, Remington, DPMS, Dakota Arms and H&R. Some people worry that this Freedom Group is going to control most of the firearms companies in the United States . If you control the manufacturers you can decide to stop selling to civilians.

What a perfect way to control guns. Now if you do some digging you will see that The Freedom Group is owned by a company called Cerberus Capital Management. Guess who controls Cerberus??? GEORGE SOROS, Obama’s chief financier!! He wants to restrict or ban all civilian guns. Please pass this on to all your freedom loving friends. This needs to come out. Why have we not heard about this in the “mainstream” media? I would think this would be B IG news. (Soros also owns Progressive Insurance). If you don’t know who George Soros is, you need to do some Research. He backed Obama with millions of dollars and Obama is a puppet on a string controlled by Soros.

Send this to every gun owner you know!

  • michael moberly January 27, 2013, 10:16 pm

what do they want to protect our familes and our country with? sling shots and pea shooters???????

  • Robert January 27, 2013, 9:55 pm

Guns do not shoot people by themselves it has to have someone to pull the trigger.People who are criminals, people who are criminally insane, young punks in gangs pretending to be bad, etc.NOT LAW ABIDING CITIZENS who own guns for protection of themselves and their families. So the reasons for taking guns from those who abide by the law are not Constitutional or right. There is and has been an agenda from the president for quite some time to take away our right to bear arms,so he can try and turn America into a socialist society. And to bring America down by creating an enormous debt and defenseless citizens, him and his entire army of traitors need to be tried for treason and conspiracy. All of you Congressmen and legislators should be ashamed of yourself for not standing up against such tyranny and not upholding the Constitution and the oath when you took office.Remember when you outlaw guns then only outlaws and criminals will have guns.Whatever happened to common sense and the concept of right and wrong.WAKE UP AMERICA and fight for your CONSTITUTIONAL and HUMAN rights

  • MAKurtis January 27, 2013, 3:35 pm

If you’re like me, living in a hopelessly liberal State (mine is NY) it may seem pointless to contact your Congressmen but do it anyway. THEN, send post cards to as many other Congressmen as you can! They may not count you or respond (you’re blocked from sending them email over their Congressional site) BUT, the volume of mail is hard to ignore. It will embolden the ones that are pro 2nd Amendment but are nervous on the electorate support. Old ACORN people are out there mailing and calling everyone in Congress… so should we!

  • mjb January 27, 2013, 2:30 pm

Unless pro-2nd Amendment comments sent to your legislators are buried at the bottom of a suitcase full of cash, your comments will never be seen by your legislators. That said, we all have an unalienable right of self-preservation by any means. Unfortunately, the majority of Americans do not understand the meaning of unalienable. Some rights, life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, cannot be taken away by govt OR given away by those that have them. The govt has infringed our right to keep and bear arms enough. What is next? An amendment repealing the 2nd Amendment? As far as the govt is concerned, all Americans are criminals (preferably felons) – they just haven’t caught you yet. Nothing another law or more enforcement won’t fix. Good luck, all.

  • Keith January 27, 2013, 2:02 pm

Exactly who the hell are you trying to get support from? You call older hunters traitors to the 2nd amendment, and the iPad gen ignorant & lazy. It’s illiterate redneck morons like yourself that keep us gun owners from being taken seriously. If you’re on my side maybe I need to switch teams.

    • Administrator January 27, 2013, 5:05 pm

Probably a good idea Keith. Our team most likely has already lost.

  • Vet Firewoman January 27, 2013, 12:27 pm

I cannot wax poetically, nor eloquently, nor am I verbose. I wrote and am writing to my reps virtually daily. Our brethren are afraid that they will be identified and targeted should they speak up. I must remind them, although sadly i cannot remember who first penned these words, “War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. For the degraded state of man who thinks that nothing is worth fighting for is a miserable creature who must be made and kept free through the exertions of greater men than himself.” (Certain someone with letters after their name will correct me and soon) I live 30 minutes from the nearest law enforcement, four miles from my nearest neighbor, and no one would hear my cries for help. The only reason I was not involved in a violent home invasion (see Tillman County OK Sheriffs reports) is because eveyone knows that I am a military vet with an incredibly accurate aim and little tolerance of nonsense. And if I were to die because my government won’t allow me to protect myself, then my heirs are instructed to sue every level of government for wrongful death because they failed to protect me. Further, if the government is so great at this, why can’t they control the violence n their own Federal Correctional Instutions. Let that be your proving ground.

  • Clint January 27, 2013, 6:24 am

Today, just about everything we do is illegal or regulated, which goes back to illegal. At over 50 years of age, I’ve learned the government is going to do what it wants and not what the people want. Call write all you want, it will not change. Until this is realized, our rights and liberties are going to continue to go away. WE CANNOT VOTE OUR WAY OUT THE CURRANT PROBLEMS.

  • Carl Rhuebottom January 27, 2013, 2:27 am

Already contacted everyone from the local Sheriff to the Governor to let them know if they publicly support or vote for this legislation my entire family of 5 will vote and donate against them in every election from this point forward. We are keeping a list of those who support and oppose and watching vigilantly for new names to add to that list. Call it a political hit list because It will become our mission to make sure they aren’t re-elected if they support it. I’m normally an independent voter and vote office by office who I trust to do the job better but if this bill passes I am voting straight republican for 8 years in protest and made sure to let the democrats on that list know that as well as pointing out to the ones i have voted for before that it will be lost votes not votes they wouldn’t have gotten anyways. Sorry If my Grammar is horrible I haven’t been sleeping well.

  • Jhaller January 27, 2013, 1:22 am

It’s also important to THANK the legislators who are working on behalf of our gun rights and urge them to stay the course. Every and any bit of news is enough reason to write another letter, send another email, make another phone call, fax another comment!

If I were responsible for protecting and defending our country, I’d treat gun owners as a National Asset, not an enemy of the public safety. I wish more of our leaders had the same view.

FIRST of all–WE didn’t lose the last election by being “outvoted”–we lost because TOUCH screen machines in Nevada, Ohio, Virginia, NC, Maryland, etc–DEFAULTED and posted OWEbama votes no matter WHO the voters selected=VOTE FRAUD; in NC there were 583 DemocRATS AGE 112 that voted–there aren’t that many 112 YEAR OLD PEOPLE in the world-much less in NC or the RAT party=DEAD PEOPLE VOTING. In numerous precincts, in numerous states–there were MORE VOTES COUNTED THAN LEGAL, REGISTERED VOTERS in those precincts=ILLEGALS VOTING. In some states, including Nevada and Ohio–some voters voted MULTIPLE TIMES=ILLEGAL VOTES, registered Ohio voters ALL got absentee ballots without asking for them–how many voted by absentee ballot and then at the polls? As for gun control–DemocRATS facing re-election in 2014 mid-term elections WILL NOT support stricter gun control laws at this time, it’s a losing issue and they know it. Contact your GOP legislators–the GOP controls the House–NO MATTER what the Senate proposes–IF it doesn’t pass the House–IT AIN’T LAW. STAND with the NRA and gun owners, contact your state representatives at both national and state levels and TELL THEM–NO MORE GUN LAWS–IF 20,000 ALREADY ON THE BOOKS DON’T WORK–WHY would we think MORE restrictions would help law abiding citizens?

  • Sparky January 26, 2013, 11:15 pm

Great article, and judging by the Comments, completely lost on the readers here. The point is not that so many young i-pad toting voters have been duped by Anderson Cooper and Rachel Madow into supporting a known Marxist, under the banner of “fairness and justice”, or that 2-A supporters that vote Democratic have giant blind spots, it is that there is a conspiracy of the press to defuse political action by stating the worst will not happen. And this lie is working, as we see folks spend untold money and time buying weapons and ammo in a feeding frenzy, as if ownership will exempt them from federal law and confiscation. The point is that gun ban defeat is not a “slam dunk” and that we’d all, yes even those Dems that purport to support gun rights, better stand up and scream “HELL NO!”, right now, or it is over. Our guns will be taken, make no mistake about thinking otherwise and trying to frame the administrations actions as “reasonable” or “thoughtful” or “necessary”. I hate to be so crude, but WAKE TFU, you i-pad fondling sheeple!

Steer clear ofthe SECOND AMENDMENT in Constitution. Many years ago I took the oath of the Army officer – to guard and protect the Constitution of the US against all enemies, foreign and domestic!!! If the Second Amendment is violated, that means I must protect the Constitution. Where does that leave our Congressmen and Senators??=YA=

  • Nathan Hitz January 26, 2013, 5:43 pm

    I agree with this article.

Is it time to take back the article, “Crying Wolf over Guns–Big Mistake in 2012?” Seems to me it is time to rerun (renounce) that article with a very different conclusion.

  • Charles OHearn January 26, 2013, 4:14 pm

Great commentary! Now put it in a letter to congress with mine and all other names you can get! It’s time this country’s politicians realize its not the guns causing the problem, Its the few crazy people that get hold of them!

  • sharps4570 January 26, 2013, 2:49 pm

I sent a note to my liberal senator, “Regarding the Fienstien(sp?) bill, not No, but Hell NO.” I’ll get a stupid form letter response.

  • Thomas Backmen January 26, 2013, 11:46 am

    Hi,

To all dam fools posting on this board against the author of this article, by the way, that was very well written, shame on you, may you and your family one day be the target of gun violence! You fools are stupid, uninformed, crack head idiots born into a family of nut cases. You were brought into this world uninformed and all you do is feed off the liberal media in this country just like the idiots and brainless that voted this black piece of shit back in office. You sit and let Ms. Clinton get away with killing 4 Americans in Benghazi, one was sodomized, and that person was “U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens”, may he rest in peace. My condolences go out to the 4 Americans “Tortured in Benghazi”.
That poor man, U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, and what Washington let happen to him alone should shock the entire World! Yet you stoned out junkies of the left wing, right wing, and liberal media among other crack heads still don’t get it. Ms. Clinton was on TV many times in the past few weeks, her comments about the 4 Americans killed, “what does it matter now, it’s done”. Ok Ms. Clinton, “What does it matter now, it’s done”, then why don’t you let the gun owners of this country and the families of the 4 Americans killed line you and your family up, we will give you 5 minutes to run and hide, and you will be hunted down just like you let the 4 Americans be hunted and tortured in Benghazi!
Ms. Clinton knew and was fully informed of what was going to happen in Benghazi weeks ahead of time, she and they (Washington) did nothing! High ranking Congressmen and Senators in Washington let this take place and they all knew something was going to happen because the Ambassador called Washington and informed them that he needed more troops for protection and Ms. Clinton and other high ranking officials in Washington did nothing!
They were informed the Embassy was being watched at least one to two months before the “horrific” incident took place. I also just recently found out from my friends in the U.S. Senate something really sad; the 4 families of the 4 Americans killed were paid-off to shut-up about the incident.
I have a tape recording of one of the victims’ families that a reporter interviewed asking them, “why aren’t you saying anything about what happened to your family member”, the answer, “we were paid a very large sum of money to keep quiet, and we will”.
Ok, so all the brainless posting negative comments about this well written article, you among the liberal media “do not want the truth nor will you ever accept the truth because until something like what took place at the Embassy happens to one of your loved ones, you will not ever get it. You are stupid and brainless!”
Have no fear gun owners with a clear head, if and when the shit hits the fan in the United States, “We the People” will rise and hunt down the entire family of “corrupt politicians” in Washington, they will then see what it is like to be hunted! At the end of the day, I honestly think this entire law banning so called “Assault Weapons” is funny. I own several “High Velocity” shotguns that will blow holes in any assault weapon on the street! In fact, the funny thing is, I just purchased 10,000 rounds of blistering shotgun ammo that will rip a hole in several people at once, 12 GA, 3” Slugs, Range: 100 (yards), Velocity: 1,502 (ft./sec.), Energy: 3,014 (ft./lbs.) and these slugs are so accurate, the rating for “Accuracy & Knockdown Power is up to 100 yards”, so guess what, let the fools in Washington try and think they are banning so called “Assault Weapons”, they know nothing about guns accept for the junk hand guns they carry and think they are protected by.

  • Chuck January 26, 2013, 11:06 am

What needs to be done is approach this issue on the mental illness side…….people who have a family member that is sick should have to fill out a report showing if they own a weapon. they would have to provide proof that the weapon is secured with trigger locks and locked up. This of course is all voluntary. It is not foolproof but it is a step in the right direction.

  • Ryan January 26, 2013, 9:37 am

Wow so much drama between each other. It’s no wonder are rights are being stripped away. Officials put something in motion and then just sit back and watch people who are fighting for the same thing turn on each other. Leave ur political views at home ur race views at home and stop all the bullshit! We are all fighting for the same thing here. I read that when planning to take over a country, town, city or whatever that the best thing to do is start to take away what people need or think they need and then sit back and watch them destroy themselves. That’s exactly what is happening now. None of us are standing together. We argue and fight one another but are to stupid to realize we are fighting for the same thing and should be fighting together. Wake up people. I have a small group of guys that all get together and shoot and just have a gd time. We also have an idea that people need to act more like a tribe of goats. Butt heads when it’s just u guys in the fence but when something jumps over that fence and threatens you in anyway. Stand together back to back and fuck it up so it never try’s again! We all need to put our differences aside and stand back to back!!! If we stand alone and fight amongst ourselves we shall lose this fight! Just my .02

  • SL January 26, 2013, 12:45 am

Did y’all forget what this is about? We have a common enemy. That enemy.. is a CAUSE, a program, an agenda.
An agenda that has taken advantage of, only after CAUSING (by WAY of infected minds), our brains’ growing inability to efficiently process information, think rationally and independently, make decisions WILLfully and KNOWingly, and to take ACTion with confidence and AUTHORity.

The most critical advantage the Cause has, over [the] US, is ORGANization… the components of a synchronized system (body) amplifies its’ effectiveness as a Whole (machine).

    SL

WE do not STAND a chance if we continue to FOCUS on our differences.
Nobody should care about the “Who, What, Where, and When” of others, instead join for the WHY’s (wise) and then define/defend the HOW-TO’s…1

Just because I farm and ranch for a living, live in the sticks, have a passel of kids and talk to more four footed critters than two everyday, doesnt mean I cant see the Dems in sheeps clothing trying to turn us against each other! Get with the program Radical left”Commies” and radical right”Nazis” both have used civilain disarmament in there agendas! The current radical left party”DEMOCRACTS” are following the Commie Manifesto right down the line. Dont believe me,read it yourself. When I was in the US Army I wanted to know my enemy, and right now A certan political party seems to look more and more like our threat from the past. “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Thomas Jefferson

I’ve said it before on this forum and I’ll say it again … Just ignore those assholes until it’s really time to make a stand. Draw the line in the sand at the front door of your homes and then walk the talk by making them pay dearly for every last high capacity magazine that they are foolish enough to attempt to illegally take from you. That’s what they were made for and how they were intended to be used in the first place. To do anything less would be shear cowardice.

  • jeff January 25, 2013, 11:57 pm

I am really very glad that Gunsamerica has understood that Fox News and conservative websites have been lieing to you for years. Obama is not a communist, he wasn’t born in Kenya, he does not hate the USA, Obama does not even want our guns. He wants us to be responsible gun owners and he’s left it up to Congress to decided what to do about weapons and magazines. WE, as gun owners, should speak up and demand that only responsible people be allowed to own weapons and do all we can to limit weapons falling into the wrong hands. If we had done that 10 years ago, there would BE NO assault gun ban even being talked about. Bobby Jindal is right. We must stop being “the party of stupid”

Please people. Don’t post references to any Alex Jones sponsored website for any “warnings”. He’s an entertainer. His theories have been debunked more times than bread has been buttered. He’s a liar. He puts videos on his shows with his own conspiracy laden money grabbing agenda without actually doing any research. He can see boxes in farmers field and call them a FEMA camp holding coffins when in fact the farmer is just picking grapes. He can see a ditch and claim ita government mass grave. He once predicted the George Bush Jr was going to NUKE the USA so that the the government could take our guns. Need I saw more? Alex Jones =quack=whacko=liar, and possibly insane.

  • Kurt January 25, 2013, 10:54 pm

I wrote to my Florida representatives and I am posting there replies here, so if they ever flounder, we have public record:

    Dear Mr. (X Smith)

Thank you for writing me regarding the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I understand this is an important issue and I appreciate hearing your thoughts.

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” I hold the fundamental belief the Second Amendment should not be altered. At the same time, I have always been open to measures that would keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill.

In light of the recent tragedies, some have suggested restricting gun ownership and have suggested ways to curb gun violence. I am always open to ideas on how to stop violent crimes, however I have concerns when these suggestions are solely directed toward restricting gun ownership. Given the Constitution’s clear stance on gun ownership, I will continue to support an individual’s right to own firearms.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve you as your United States Senator. I appreciate you offering your opinion on this issue. If I can ever be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
    Sincerely,
    Marco Rubio
    United States Senator

    Dear Mr. (XSmith):

Thank you for contacting me about protecting Second Amendment rights.

I grew up on a ranch in the Florida countryside and have been a hunter since I was a boy. I support a person’s constitutional right to bear arms.

In 2008, the Supreme Court of the United States affirmed that the Second Amendment protects a person’s right to possess a firearm, unconnected to military service, and to use that firearm for traditional lawful purposes like self-defense within the home. This is the law of the land.

I appreciate hearing your views on this subject. Hearing from you helps me to better serve you in the Senate.
    Sincerely,
    Bill Nelson

“Are American Gun Owners a Bunch of Fools?”

Given that we have about 300 million guns in the US, I assume we’ve got 80-150 million gun owners. If so, many of them must have either stayed home on election day or voted for Mr Obama. I can only conclude that, certainly, a great many gun owners are ‘a bunch of fools.'”

As a great man said, “Wake up, America!” (Earl Pitts, American)

All is well when many people share there views. All is well when the majority say is honored by
the minority. The issue of a gun and its roll in mortality is single faced. Spreading major disease
can kill millions, Our nuke resources make dirty bombs kill thousands, Ask your government what
is out there. They won,t tell you. Top secret Im sure, do not want a panic. This epic of gun control
is not just political it is scared citizens who were not taught during there life to understand and
give thanks to the Pioneers of this Great Country who gave there lives to protect our freedom. Your
family, friend, neighbor would be the first to knock on your door to help protect them. Guns are
quick and final if used properly. We need to all be aware guns are not the big killer,Stupid people
are . Be aware those who surround you, they are the ones that will kill you. . Stand strong. Guns
will never vanish, They where made for your protection and will always be, and be in your hands.

Isn’t this their Job?Get our economy fixed !

  • ChicagoGunSmith January 25, 2013, 4:18 pm

I agree with this post 100%. I agree I agree I agree. I have contacted my elected officials numerous times since the Newtown shooting. I have done so on a state and Federal level.

Everyone MUST absolutely MUST contact all their elected officials. Call, call all their offices. Emails, their email addresses are usually listed on various websites. Fax, fax all their offices. Then drop the fax copies in the US Postal mail.

Let them know you can not support anyone who supports a gun ban. Let them know you vote. Let them know you can not support anyone who supports a magazine ban. Remind them that they work for you. Be polite. Be straight forward.

Then ask all your gun loving buddies to do the same.

If you think they will stop after they ban “military-style rifles” and full capacity magazines you are sadly mistaken:

    Australian Gun-grabbers Target Bolt-action Firearms
    http://www.prisonplanet.com/australian-gun-grabbers-target-bolt-action-firearms.html
    —————-
“Alpers and the gun-grabbers in Australia are quite naturally concerned about law-abiding Australians owning weapons for self-defense. “Guns are a bit like a virus,” he told ABC TV. “You clamp down on one type of gun, another one pops up and you have to deal with that.””

“Australian gun-grabbers are now targeting one shot and bolt-action rifles, stating that it only takes “one bullet” to kill somebody. “Remember that 90 per cent of gun deaths have nothing to do with mass killings,” Alpers told the ABC. “They’re actually suicides and domestic violence, and it only takes one bullet in a domestic violence incident.””
    ——————-

    • steven January 25, 2013, 4:29 pm

This is right on the nose. If the Skeet, Bolt Action and Pistol Guys let them take the black guns it will not stop there! This is classic “divide and conquer” . Although some common sense concessions that don’t really infringe might be in order to preserve the greater good?

  • FelixV3 January 25, 2013, 3:15 pm

We are all partially to blame if we have allowed the NRA to be the “watchdog” of our liberty in respect to the 2nd Ammendment. Expressing and exercising the 2nd Ammendment IS the safeguard of our other God given rights. Helping Wayne and his buddies build mansions and send LOBBYISTS to deal with corrupt politicians supposedly on our behalf has resulted in our 2nd amendments current state of atrophy. The division taking place in this country as evidenced on this very page is the result of Shills in strategic positions such as the Administrator here. It would seem that if we are heading toward a confrontation it will offer us only one chance for victory. Join or die. This forum is being manipulated to keep us at odds rather than appealing to the true application of patriotism united against a common adversary. Rather than sowing discord amongst the brethren. This country will die if we here are diverted to fight one another here. Hell when we fought the British we even joined with the French. Find common ground and be willing to die while we are free to choose.

    • steven January 25, 2013, 4:31 pm

Well Said.. “give me liberty or give me death”!

  • xve January 25, 2013, 2:42 pm

Let’s look at the main issue: Gun control. Calling each other names and dealing with what politics away from the primary concern is not conductive to writing a well reasoned communication to your congressional representatives. The more emotional one becomes in this matter the less impact the communication will have. The communication should be to the point. And only that point! Write Democrats as will as Republicans but write get you friends to write. Find sites that allow petitions and have those done.

  • Onedee Tentee January 25, 2013, 2:31 pm

    Important:
    http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/

Many elected officials have been looking for an opportunity to curtail our gun rights and think they can win now if they move quickly while emotions are high. Not doing anything or thinking someone else will do it so you don’t have to will result in the greatest loss of freedom our country has seen. Now for the easy part: Go here, and let your representatives know how you feel. Your info is NOT retained, and they do all the contacting for you. It’s Ruger’s website. Ruger has been an American business since 1949.

  • JEFIII January 25, 2013, 2:28 pm

Thank you for keeping the gun owners of America informed, and I believe you might be within a few percentage points of the actual number of gun owners who have contacted their legislators. I utilized a forum to contact mine, and have received responses from both, as well as staying on Wethepeople.org, signing every petition that asks that our government uphold the constitution, prevent any new gun laws… I’m doing all I can on my end, and we have to call on the rest to unite and do the same. Our political machine has demonized guns and gun owners as well as conservatives way too much in this administration. It is time to band together as nothing more than the gun owning public. We need to drop our political affiliations they use to divide us into two radical groups and realize that we all want the same thing… The preservation of our rights!

    • Jeannie February 26, 2013, 8:18 am

I have also contacted the President, Vice President and my representatives to stand up for the Second Amendment and our Constitutional Rights. I have also signed as many petitions as I could find on We The People. I’m not sure how much good it’s done, but I won’t stop trying! And PLEASE—Those of you who are
NAME-CALLING AND ACTING LIKE 2 YEAR OLDS—Stop and think about how you look to those who would take our RIGHTS away. (Dorothy Laughlin)

      • JEANNIE February 26, 2013, 9:47 am

By the way, I should have included the fact that I’m a LIFE MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
I feel that there’s an expectation that we ALL take it upon ourselves to be diligent and not to blame the NRA or any other association for being slow when we should have already taken action against those who would take away our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!!!

  • DDK January 25, 2013, 2:19 pm

I did write my Virginia Representative and two Senatorws respectfully asking they abstain from voting against Second Amendment interest, stating ooposition to more gun laws as follows:

“I write to respectfully request you to vote in opposition to any more gun control laws in Virginia or the United States. My experinces of past 50+ years show 20,000+ laws NOT being strictly enforced, while innocent citizens suffer if not able to defend themselves, Twice my handgun saved myself and family in my home, and both times the police were 25-45 minutes coming—then disarmed me to investigate—though I did not have to shoot the multiple villians involved to get them running. Thanks for reading my concerns, Dennis Dean Kirk, Esq.”

  • Domingo Tavella January 25, 2013, 2:10 pm

    Moderator,
I find it fascinating that you complain to have been treated as a fool by the conservative media, when in reality there was plenty of information from other sources telling you the truth, namely that polls were not skewed, and that statisticians know their business. You chose not to hear that, however, because you didn’t like the message. Yet, you are now doing precisely the same. When I write a post telling gun owners that the NRA is hurting their interests by being ridiculously uncompromising, and that not all gun owners oppose controls, you delete my post! Do you realize that doing that is an exact parallel to the “polls are skewed” nonsense? If you prefer to live in a bubble of your own making, public opinion will grow increasingly antagonistic to gun ownership rights, and we will all end up on the losing end. And that, my friend, is the very definition of being a fool.

    • steven January 25, 2013, 4:35 pm

Agreed, I watch varied media with an open mind and it was pretty obvious that O was going to win. Fox was and still is IMHO drinking their own coolaid.

It makes a differance if you write your officals. Just think, if you normally get 25 letters a week, no big deal, but if you get 200 thousand, your going to think about keeping that gravy ass job, benefits, senator health care, etc. Its all about votes and follow the money.

  • Jay Warren Clark January 25, 2013, 1:21 pm

There is a time for impassioned speech–the language of outrage. Indeed, it follows that in such times impassioned speech IS the voice of Reason. And please do not confuse with Reason the timid and falsely “objective” speech of those “journalists” who represent the official media. A company man is a company man and these men and women simply toe the party line–that is how they keep their jobs, and that is their primary concern. Furthermore, the media hires junkyard dogs like O’Reiley and Limbaugh so that they can confuse the masses and at the same time help the mainstream colleagues preserve this false appearance of “objectivity.” But the impassioned voice of Reason, that is not welcome. Why do you think Fox got red of Judge Napolitano?

Again, not all impassioned speech is on that account a “rant,” and to suggest so is itself to sidestep Reason.
Focus then on what is central. Are we or are we not in a constitutional crisis of singular and historic importance? All of the facts (the Patriot Act, the NDAA, attempts by Congress to control the internet, etc., etc.) point to an answer in the affirmative. So, we had better wake up and we had better wake up our so-called “representatives,” or put them out and put in citizen reps who will institute term limits with teeth. Because what we have today is a gross and obvious insult and not worthy of free citizens of a free republic. Jay Warren Clark

    • VOS January 26, 2013, 1:52 pm

      DAMN!!! Impassioned Reason! Thank you!

I’m sorry, but I am having a bit of a difficult time mentally digesting what I’m reading through all these comments. I assume that a good majority of us are here for the same purpose. Support of our freedom and our rights. Why is it that we must call names, and be so damn divided. Now is the time that we need to come together as a nation, guys. Seriously, could we all act like responsible adults here, and take a different approach?
This is, in my humble opinion, a very large reason, as to why we will not win. We will not triumph, because no one knows how to lay down their own pride and become a force. This is one of the MOST IMPORTANT things that we as a nation are about to experience, and everyone is just feeling “safe” throwing out threats, insults, and lame duck remarks behind the comfort of a keyboard. Stop being so critical, let us get our act together, and let’s try to fix our nation together.
On another topic, this isn’t just about gun control, or “victim disarmament” as I like to call it, the problem is the government wants to tax the hell out of us, destroy our hard earned pensions, tell us what we can and can not eat, tell us we must have the healthcare they want us to have, and they want our freedom, essentially. Why were we taken off the gold standard? People say it was revised, but as history show us plainly, the only thing that has ever happened since FDR or Nixon, has been the attempt to deflate that American dollar. It is so hyperinflated now, that the government has to implode this nation. They will take EVERYTHING, but only after we are rendered harmless and defenseless. And when this great nation implodes, the rest of the world may be to follow… Is this the end, folks?

Nobody seems to understand, WE ARE ALREADY DIVIDED. We had dozens of people stop by our booth at SHOT Show, some of them the same dealers who are selling their ARs at $3,000 right now, who said, and I quote “nobody really needs a magazine over ten rounds.” If you try to be nice to these people instead of calling them out we are already sunk.

      • j February 1, 2013, 6:55 am

Dealers are doing Obama and Feinstein’s job for them..Who in there right mind would pay $3000.00 for an AR???
If this keeps up, the market will ensure nobody has any wepaons.

Listen to y’all they are accomplishing what y’all are doing arguing amungiest yourself we need to stick together and fight these people before they destroy what we have you all forget that they work for us not us for them and yes we can do something about the president and vise president we can call for impeachment and reelect a new president and vise remember the million man march tha didn’t got a million people but they still marched and they made the difference and we should do the same before it’s to late so let’s try to stick together and defeat them at there own game I’m also a veteran of this country and it don’t take a phd to figure out that these people don’t need to be runing any country

  • Richard Cheatham January 25, 2013, 12:56 pm

I agree with most of what you say and have contacted my Senators and Representative. I disagree with some of your assumptions about the past election. If American gun owners didn’t show up in force in the last election there may be a reason for that. Perhaps Romney was not perceived as a real alternative to Obama. Perhaps millions of us are not going to vote for the “lesser of two evils” anymore. Perhaps November was not the time to be active but rather it was during the party candidate selection process. Perhaps many have given up on the manipulations and lies of the party that presents its self as the alternative to big government growth and protection of fundamental American rights. “We” lost, all of us, because we have been duped over and over again by the gatekeepers of the Republican Party who have little in mind but their own empowerment. More and more of us vote for what is right and for no more compromise. There are lots of votes out there for those who don’t lie to or manipulate us on these issues. Romney did not earn our vote. He was not the answer.

    • steven January 25, 2013, 1:43 pm

Amen Brother! The fact that he couldn’t beat Obama says it all. Yet my Republican party in it’s denial just spins it to insult that crucial group in the middle that decide everything.

  • Charles Dozier January 25, 2013, 12:39 pm

I don’t hunt anymore, but I enjoy shooting my guns everyday. I should be able, as a American for 70 years, to be able to shoot what kind of gun I want to shoot, when I want to shoot. When they start changing the Bill Of Rights, that is the start of our freedom being taken away.If they want to make changes, start with the Welfare and stop paying for all of these lazy people to lay around and not work, and when they need more money they just have another baby for all tax payers to take care of then. DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE, and quit trying to change the Bill of Rights, which is, in itself, against the Constitution anyway.

  • Frank January 25, 2013, 12:38 pm

the best way to make a cohesive argument and drive a point home is to resort to name calling. Studies show that when you call people “fidiot” they are instantly swayed to your side of the argument. Keep doing it! You are incredibly smart and an effective persuader!

    • Administrator January 25, 2013, 12:40 pm

Instantly! Thanks for validating me man. I am shaking hands with my inner child reading your comment.

      • steven January 25, 2013, 1:51 pm

I’m pretty sure frank was poking fun at you in an intelligent way.

  • steven January 25, 2013, 12:35 pm

As a pro 2nd amendment Libertarian minded American, I agree with ALL the principals laid out in your article. I need to express why IMHO Republicans lost the election and why conservatism is loosing the War. You need look any further than your article, equating anyone who didn’t vote with you against the constitution and twice slamming the fast growing I Pad generation. Even thought I agree with much of what your saying, I’m so appalled at how your saying it and how your throwing huge sections of this country under the bus merely because you disagree with them. Simply put the EXTREMEST are pushing the MODERATES to the left and it’s costing you the war. So I’d start to think about whether you want to be in your face 100% absolute and loose everything or less then 100% absolute with sugar on top and WIN… I’m the latter!

    • Administrator January 25, 2013, 12:37 pm

So would you rather go down standing up for what you believe in or saying “wait just a minute you don’t understand” as the sword comes down on your skull?

      • steven January 25, 2013, 1:50 pm

Standing up for what you believe in is great and if your waiting til the sword falls on your skull then your in denial. My point is that you only hurt what both you an I believe in when you present your case in such an a way that insults everyone on the other side. So we just threw the I Pad generation and everyone that voted for Obama even the NRA under the buss. Even though there are many within those groups who would oppose GUN REGULATION. So in my estimation by fighting the way you are your sticking your head under the sword!

  • cannondale January 25, 2013, 12:31 pm

to the administrator… well, as usual, this topic has divided us all down a very straight and solid wall. it seems as if half of you want to kill obama and half want to hump his leg. It is a sad day for our country.. I for one firmly believe that the majority of people that voted for this administration did so without doing any research. obama’s plans and beliefs were laid bare for all to see in books and speeches long befor he took office. Most of this knoledge sends a chill down my spine. Anyway, off topic. I would really like to bring one person to your attention. james Fakelastname.. this creature is confessing that he wants to kidnap and rape young girls. Please get this guy’s location and forward to the authorities ASAP!! this guy is sick and needs to be aprehended.. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS!!!!

My Senator Joe Manchin ran on a pro gun platform and was elected by a LARGE margin. Now he is talking out of the other side of his mouth. If he votes for this (NOT IF IT PASSES) there will be a recall petition initiated immediately.

I have contacted his office and Nick Rahall’s office (lost cause).

    I am praying!

  • hoover28 January 25, 2013, 12:22 pm

Apathy and overconfidence are two of our greatest enemies. It seems like every time we thought (or were told) that some bad legislation didn’t have much of a chance to pass, it did – no thanks to a combination of these two factors. I have to agree with the blog author, above. Tune out the news (except as a peripheral reference), ignore the erstwhile optimists and fight like you’ve never fought before. Don’t depend on activists or organizations. Get in there and do the job yourself. Noise factor counts! Dissect the bills, then use the bits and pieces as stimuli to contact your reps *daily*. We are faced with what could very well be a multi-generational game changer. Even if you toss out all the bad players in the next election, that won’t necessarily result in bad law getting changed. It takes far less effort to prevent bad bills from becoming bad laws in the first place than trying to amend or abolish them *after* they have become law.

    I keep my AR-15 locked in a safe,because I’m afraid it’s gonna assault someone.
I should’ve known better than to own a rifle that only wants to shoot people.
And with “clips” that can hold up to 30 “bullets” so it can shoot even more people without reloading.
How could I have been so stupid?
Now they’re telling me on the news that it probably doesn’t like school children very much.
    Oh Baby Jesus help us!
All of these demonic devices of children’s nightmares must be destroyed!
Save us Senator Feinstein! Save us from these wretched implements of Hell before there’s no one left!
I’m just gonna stay right here, under this blanket, piddling in my pants until all the bad guns are gone.
You’ll let me know when you’ve saved the world and it’s safe to come out, right?

  • Rene B January 25, 2013, 11:34 am

I read many good points in this article, specifically the point relating to the strategy of gun-controlers to get gun-owners to give-up one portion of our gun buying freedoms at a time…..a certain type of magazine, a certain type of gun design, a certain type of ammo, or any given type of gun accessory, etc. For the unsuspecting, this may seem trivial but this gun-controling strategy couldn’t be more deliberate in the end. Piece by piece, item by item, proponents of gun-control gain greater and greater control over gun-owner’s freedoms to choose from what should be a wide option list of gun and gun related designs and benefits with which to deffend and protect themselves from which ever threat comes their way.

If gun-owners remain unsuspecting, and we continue to surrender one small gun-related piece to the whole gun-control design at a time it will be only a matter of a short time before we’ve placed ourselves in a predicament where good and viable defensive options becomes a thing of the past. Our strongest and most recurent of arguments must continue to be the fact that objects (such as weapons and defensive accessories) can’t threaten anyone or anything unless the wrong person with a desire to hurt others are mated together.

Strategizing swiping gun-control legislation and punishing all gun-owners for the murderous actions of one or a few amounts to nothing more than collective punishment for the misdeeds of others. There’s a name for this approach, this method of governing is widely known as totalitarianism…..and it is coming slowly, but only if gun-owners remain unsuspecting!!!!

  • James Fakelastname January 25, 2013, 11:30 am

Has anyone considered that maybe slavery is simply destined to happen again? The bible says that in the last days we will be made property. As in, turned into someones property. I myself at 49 years of age want guns gone because of recent developments in the crazy youth of today. They are engineered through socialized media to be murderers.

I was sitting outside the credit union the other day while my wife was inside settling a debt when I looked over across at the high school and realized, the problem is most certainly Americas youth.

It dawned on me that since these ignorant arrogant little creatures have almost no value aside from what is between the neck and the knees I settled on the idea that before I die, I’m going to get ahold of a few of those beautiful young things before its to late. I may be sick but facts are facts, young females are as juicy as they ever have been in history and I want to touch their young firm bodies. Only homes with guns concern me because the cops do not. Cut the phone line, kick in the door, pepper spray everyone, have as much fun as I can with your daughters.

I’m for gun control, the sooner the better, I’m not getting any younger.

  • geoch January 25, 2013, 11:29 am

Premise that Hitler disarmed the German people is completely and utterly false. The law which the author references was originally passed in 1928 before Hitler took power. Hitler then reformed the law which actually expanded gun rights to German citizens. What he did however was stripped citizenship from Jews and his domestic opponents there by taking away their ability to own guns. There is a difference the writer of this article is either unaware that they are being misleading or doing it intentionally. The editor should have pointed out the problem if they were doing their job. Putting out falsehoods like this does not help the cause it just makes it easier to discredit the argument. So unless Obama finds some secret loophole to take change the status of citizenship..none exist btw. Or some one is dumb enough to renounce their citizenship legally the whole “history” portion of the article is worthless.

    • Administrator January 25, 2013, 12:05 pm

See everyone. This is the “don’t worry it won’t happen here” argument. He disarmed the Jews, hello? After two days of Nazi rioting they had already tested the waters to see if the German people would stand up to them rounding up their peaceful and giving neighbors. When their was no resistance, they made it illegal for a Jew to own a gun to fight back with. Sound like NY City, where only the police are allowed to have guns so they can just shoot anyone who is not a cop who they see with a gun?

  • David P. January 25, 2013, 11:26 am

I live on a farms where we hunt for food and shoot for fun, we need our guns and yes we have written and emailed our senetors. We vote in every election and support our local law inforcement, who is also against any gun control bans. I don’t know what else to do, It seems the government only wants the South American gangs in the big cities to have guns. Heck the cops are scared to put a stop to the gangs, or they can’t. I just don’t understand why so many Senators are so scared of Obama? Thanks and all have a good hunt… David P.

  • Richard Carta January 25, 2013, 11:15 am

I’m sure that their are many Democrats who own guns, believe in the 2nd amendment and the Constitution of the United States. However, do these Democrats value their rights deeply enough to stand up to the sometimes fanatical ultra socialist leadership who at times sound like they are south of the old USSR? We (Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians) should be aware that those who want to destroy the 2nd Amendment, will also destroy the First Amendment (and others) at their pleasure to suit their political desires. As an experienced political scientist I concede that both Republicans and Democrats need to be more aware of the needs and opinions of the majority in the middle, rather that to dedicate themselves to the needs of the very rich or very poor. This is why Romney lost and why Obama and Biden are still hated by so many people. They are all FUZZY THINKERS and always seem to take the wrong road to solve problems. Obama has a history of responding to a crisis with insane devisive solutions. Yes, the world has changed, yes violence is worshipped by Hollywood (Django) and violent video games for young children and yes, young people with bi-polar and asbergers autism are virtually ignored and swept aside until they make the news with a mass murder. The answer is not bans and punishment of law abiding gun owners. The answer is tighter mental health checks when young people apply for drivers licenses (no d-license, no guns), perhaps a tax credit for those who buy gun safes. These are proactive steps but what Obama is proposing is negative and divides the country even more. There are many lawful gunowners who will fight to the death if Obamas stormtroopers (military and police) try to enforce these bad laws and many more innocent people will die as a result. If this happens, Obama, Feinstein, Biden etc. will have blood on their hands.

  • scotty in tulsa January 25, 2013, 11:14 am

i agree with the article. my own 77 year old father-in-law gave me his old mauser for hunting, since he didnt use it any more. thaen started saying the nra was bs and no one shouldbe able to own ANY kind of semi-automaticfirearm. his reasoning sounded just like obama. i have heard older men at the worlds largest gunshow say”theres that nra booth over there, trying to get new members. the only thing the nra is good for is the magazines” so a lot of what is said in the article is true, i have heard it. and if you watch the news,or read the paper, you should know that owebama is wanting the U.S. to be another european state with no guns. just abunch of socialist buddies. lets hear it for george soros and his friends!!! they intend to own the U.S.!!!!!!!!!

  • another combat vet January 25, 2013, 11:10 am

    “Wake up America”
    Just a few points:
Do call/e-mail/wright your government reps. I certainly have became a pest.
Do make sure they know where you stand on gun rights
Don’t call others idiots, unless you want them as enemies
Think about what is happening: The gun manufacturers, ammunitions suppliers, gun shops and on line sales are making millions of $$$$$s form this issue. The NRS is getting a huge surge in membership $s. Some gun owners are selling their guns for 3 or 4 times what they paid for them 6 months ago. Obama is probably making a killing from it also. Dianne Feinstein looks like she may actually be a zombie and may be the only one not making money form this. Zombies just don’t like guns!!
Buy guns and ammo reasonably. When this dies down you are going to feel like such a fool for paying $3,000 for a $700 gun, and over a $1 for a .30 cent round.
I am not trying to down play the importance of this issue. I spent two years in Vietnam because I believe in the Constitution. I don’t have an i-pad but would if I could afford one.

  • RJR9681 January 25, 2013, 11:04 am

As I read this article and several of the comments t became very clear to me that there are varing view points about not only Obama but also about gun owners themselves. First I would like to say that the remarks about the NRA really lit my fuse. I have been a member of the NRA for nearly 40 years. If it weren’t for the NRA our 2nd Ammendent rights would have been gone long ago. When gun owners start to attack each other it makes it quite easy to beat ourselves. all the left has to do is stand by and watch and let us destroy ourselves. So all of you that are taking aim at the NRA should maybe apply more of your efforts toward the real enemy. Just because it took them a few days to respond to the CT shooting all of a sudden they are now the bad guys. I called them myself to get an answer and they replyed they were waiting for more of the facts to come out and also giving the griving famlies a chance to “grive” dah. I also take offence about the coment of hunters being an enemy of the 2nd Ammendent. Well guess what dude. I am an Air Force vet have had guns since I was 5, hunted as soon as I was able to hold a gun and I HAVE CONTACTED MY “REPRESENTIVES” SEVERAL TIMES. So in your future rants, PLEASE, keep your dislike of the NRA to yourself mister writer. Do yourself and the rest of us a favor and point your ranting fingers toward the enemy, not Hunters and the NRA.

  • Art Gordon January 25, 2013, 10:54 am

Yes, there are Democrats that believe that they have the Constitutional right to bear arms. But don’t forget that the stregnth of the Democratic Party is that they will vote against their own beliefs and follow the party line. Gun bans don’t affect the politicians, they are not affected by the laws they impose upon us. It’s all about controlling the masses. SOCIALISM.

  • Cliff January 25, 2013, 10:52 am

As a Veteran, one who served in Vietnam, I have to come to the defense of the one who writes this blog. Those of you, Liberal or not, who believe the problem is law abiding citizens access to so called high capacity magazines, pistol grips on rifles, flash suppressor, sound suppressors, etc. are the problem are just plain ignoring the facts.

    Facts.

1 – If you have the money and can pass the background checks you can own just about any weapon you wish.

2 – If you have the money you can hire as many guards for your children and personal protection carrying any manner of weapon (see fact 1 above) you wish.

3 – All weapons, no matter the size of their magazines or the length and weight of their blade, bludgeon or other force multiplying feature are lethal.

4 – Larger human beings have been committing lethal acts on smaller statured human beings since the dawn of man. That’s what drove the invention of bigger, better, faster weapons – self defense.

5 – The amount of bullets in a gun’s magazine that I require are as many as it takes to stop someone intent on doing harm to me or my family.

6 – Taking away my right to choose my means of self-defense does nothing to stop criminals or the insane from committing heinous crimes. It only puts my family and me at greater risk of becoming a victim.

I could go on – but liberals don’t care what the facts are and President Obama is the greatest example of that.

Case in point is this quote from a congressman’s letter to his constituent.

“According to reports, the shooter was able to kill many children and adults very quickly because he possessed a military-style semiautomatic weapon. He also allegedly used magazines containing up to 30 rounds of ammunition and carried hundreds of rounds more.”

Turns out he did not use an AR-15, he had 4 handguns in the school with him. We still don’t know if he used them all. He probably just shot and reloaded as many times as he wanted until he killed himself. After the principle and her staff tried to stand up to the single bullet that killed them, there were only un-defended children left to stop him.

  • Darren January 25, 2013, 10:48 am

I contacted both my Senators and my Congress person regarding this “gun” issue. Best part is I told the truth. Gun bans do two things.
    1. They offer up huge gun sales numbers so people can create a “black” market of guns when a ban does happen and make a ton of money. By the way, these people are not left or right sided, at this point all they see is dollars.
    2. The gun ban destroys a supporting politician’s chance for re-election.

  • TexasVet January 25, 2013, 10:48 am

I’ve contacted my reps and more. I’ve contacted other state reps as well. We can not be quiet any more. You must voice your opinions now.

  • Keith January 25, 2013, 10:39 am

I really agree with your point about Fox, etc. “spinning” the pre-election thinking to complacency by convincing prospective conservatives that Romney was a “win”. And I agree they are trying to do the same thing now with this “assault weapons” ban. It’s like they think if they say “we” are behind, they are conceding defeat… they would not be! It would be a much stronger call to arms if they erred on the side of saying we might get defeated, because that would push people to *act*!

I also agree that the anti-gunners are working feverishly behind the scenes (and with public opinion polls) to get this through… and the public… even gun owners and NRA members, it seems, appear to be buying into these bans!

The NRA is doing a horrible job in this debate… the only argument one ever hears from them is “2nd amendment, 2nd amendment”. The anti-gunners, and naive populace don’t care about the 2nd amendment! What the NRA needs to do is create *intelligent* (non rant) commercials and interviews where they explain that an AR-15 is no different than any other rifle, that the bullets it shoots aren’t “military devastating” bullets, and that removing, e.g., “pistol grip”s from rifles is not going to save lives. They need to explain why a madman with 5 10 round magazines will kill just as much as a madman with 2 30 round magazines. They need to explain that one can shoot a revolved just about as fast as a semi-automatic! The American public needs to understand these things, and there is no one out there (especially the media) explaining it to them. This whole ban is about *cosmetic firearms appearance*, but no one is talking about that. I am about to drop my NRA membership… they are lame.

    • VOS January 26, 2013, 1:35 pm

Then the hoplophobes will merely shift to banning 130 year old weapon designs. I think of this every time I watch the intro to “The Rifleman”.

  • Marcus January 25, 2013, 10:38 am

lol…the administrator has gone full retard this time. I guarantee you this guy sits around watching Alex Jones and reading deep web news sources all day.

Great way to fire up your email list – call people idiots and alienate the ones who don’t see eye to eye with all the political views of yourself.

Oh, and by the way, I have sent numerous emails to all my reps about this issue. I even did it from my Galaxy S3 one time!

    Keep melting, administrator.

    • Administrator January 25, 2013, 10:47 am

No Markus we really want you to wake up or go away. There are plenty of internet gun profiteers for you to buy your guns from Marcus, including most of our competitors. It is time to draw the line between people who support racist gun control policies and freedom loving Americans who refuse to drink the government Koolaid.

      • Marcus January 25, 2013, 11:45 am

I agree completely. It is only my opinion that incendiary emails like this one that attack our own supporters are generally not good. You got people talking, that’s for sure – it’s also a good thing. However, there are ways to accomplish that and remain a unifying voice instead of a divisive one. We shouldn’t give a shit about someone’s thoughts on abortion or taxes or entitlement programs, as long as they are 100%in support of the 2nd Amendment, then we can use their help on this matter. Several of my friends are liberal but own more guns than I do and have been up in arms since their party began this run on our freedoms. They have been contacting their reps as well and urging them to act against any and all 2A legislation. to me, those kinds of people are important and can really help us win this battle. Why marginalize them?

        • Administrator January 25, 2013, 12:02 pm

Keep telling yourself that Marcus, and cash the government paycheck before it bounces.

Marcus, forget him…he must’ve been abused as a child. Or this his method to keep the thread going: make outrageous comments in anticipation of responses like ours. As you stated, regardless of political affiliation or ideology, those of us who supprt gun rights need to fight as one!!!

  • Kevin January 25, 2013, 10:38 am

Rant or no rant.. search up the new laws enacted in New York state and tell me the politicians only want to ban “Assault Weapons” or “High Capacity magazines”. Now in New York state you have to do a background check $10-$20 every time you purchase ammo and they set up a database to track when, what and how much you buy.
There is no grandfather clause on banned items.
Once Washington gets those approved and some other nutjob kills people with a 9mm pistol with multiple 10 round magazines they will go after ALL magazine fed weapons. BTW Biden wants to limit magazines to 10 round capacity, yet many pistols come with 13, 15, 17 and more magazines stock.
Do I think the rich should be driving cars that can exceed 200 mph and suck 2 gallons to the mile? Not really but they are legal and they can afford them so leave it be. The speed limit is there.
Do I think we need an AK with 30 round mags? Not really.. but it is their legal right to have them and it should be left at that.
Let some nutjob corner folks in a “GUN FREE” zone it will not matter the magazine capacity, it will still be a slaughter.

One thing the remarks has shown is that this is absolutely a passionate emotion that people feel about gun control. This country and our fore fathers had the sense to craft a document called the constitution to gaurentee our freedoms. It does not matter which side of the fence you fall on be it republican or democrat, you can’t give up any of our contitutional freedoms. Taking a little bit now means to me that the government in power now thinks they can get a little more later. Taking baby steps is how it always starts. Look at England and it’s history! I am a vet as well and served proudly. I think that we “all” need to take control or our government and tell the elected officials what we the american people whom they serve want. If your for gun control so be it. But, it your against it don’t be silent. I think that is what the message is that the original article is really all about. While your contacting your elected officials, tell them you would like for this government to be responsible with our tax dollars and to balance our budget much like I have to with “my” checkbook.

  • Reality Check January 25, 2013, 10:33 am

Everybody is missing the not so hidden agenda.. Linking Obamacare to the so called new gun ban bill..
Read the point about doctors reporting!! The mandated system we have now is EMR.. directly linked to the government now. If the gun bill goes as planned every patient record ( including the currently closed mental health records) will be entered into the UCIS(Uniform Crime Information System). If you smoke, drink, take prescription or illegal narcotics or have a mental health issue the Justice Department and the FBI will have that record to use against you!! That’s the plan and they are waving guns to get it through!

    • Steve M January 27, 2013, 6:31 pm

^^^ Read what Reality Check just wrote. I have been telling this to as many people as I can. Be very aware of this. I cannot believe how many people just dismiss this as, oh it’s OK, I trust my doctor. This is treacherous and should worry anyone who owns a firearm.

      • Ricco February 2, 2013, 2:57 pm

You are correct, but believe me, we already know about it and take it VERY seriously…..we just haven’t discussed it in this forum. But thanks for bringing it up here, it needed to be mentioned. I was going to do it but you beat me to it. For any of you here that may not know what I am talking about’ you need to Google “Doctors reporting gun owners before allowing medical treatment in the ER”……that should get you there.

  • Rev. Jeff January 25, 2013, 10:32 am

I know that everyone thinks that they are right. That everyone is far right conservative. That the more noise you make the better your are liked or read. But the truth is that the conservatives lied to the American people about their own party. We just followed what they said. They got richer and WE lost. We the People will no longer list to the wacko rants of people who only have opinion without any intelligent consideration. In this age of instant communications. People can learn more about an issue in less time than in anytime in history. You and your opinion are lost to the people who won’t be fooled again by the rant of some conservative wacko.

  • R Ross January 25, 2013, 10:27 am

Some don’t contact their legislators because they have some history of repeatedly ignored letters and then reply with a form letter that states they are right and you are wrong. I live in an area with only one Republican in the Senate and he does hear from me often. But our other representatives are Democrats and it’s a total waste of time to try and change their minds. I’ve tried. They follow the O’s lead and mantra to the letter and then dress it in a way to make the public feel it’s for our own good they do these things. BS! Make no mistake once they disarm us, America is done for. This is an outright attack on a basic right. Our founding fathers knew this could happen and put it “second” in the constitution, not at the end, because of its importance to an America free from Government tyranny.

  • Ernroe January 25, 2013, 10:23 am

I am old hunter and an old Ipad user but I don’t consider myself an old fool. Your approach to our common problem is flawed in my opinion by alienating certain groups such as Old Hunters and Ipad users. It is a foolish approach on your part. As stated before I am an old hunter and old Ipad user and proud of it. I am also an old IDPA competitor, an old Skeet competitor, an old Trap competitor, an old GunsAmerica user, and an old 2nd Amend. supporter. Born in 1946 makes me part of the older generation in this battle and just a reminder that all Ipad users were not born post 1990. So, if you are serious about leading this monumental effort we are undertaking don’t divide and alienate your troops. You would be a fool to do.

    • Administrator January 25, 2013, 10:28 am

Then you should know that hunters have historically been traitors. President Obama said in his speech that his agenda was supported by a lot of “NRA members.” Now who do you think he was talking about? You also probably live in flyover country, where some normal people actually do own Ipads. But overwhelmingly the erudite eggheads of the Ipad generation have no clue what our government, and any government drunk on its own power is capable of.

      • Ann Hansen January 25, 2013, 4:21 pm

So now you suddenly believe something Obama said about NRA members ? Wow! Time to get a grip and trend just a tad closer to the rational side. More importantly, thanks to all that express their views in an attempt to have a rational, meaningful dialog, irrespective of their views. Also, to the many Vets in my family and through out the nation, I say thank you again, irrespective of your personal views. God bless

    • Steve M January 27, 2013, 6:28 pm

Ernroe, you seem like a nice guy. I don’t think the author was referring to people such as yourself. I remember in the 90’s during the first AWB how the hunters willfully threw us under the bus. “No one needs magazines holding more than X rounds”, “No one need X for hunting”, falling for “cop killer bullet” propaganda, and on and on. And that is happening again. They were traitors. Anyone who talks like that is a traitor. Anyone who thinks the 2nd amendment is about hunting is an ignorant traitor. Again, I do NOT think the author was referring to people such as yourself. I am haunted by memories of in the 90’s, over and over again, being thrown under the bus by “hunters”.

    • Ricco February 2, 2013, 2:45 pm

I agree with you mostly, but you must realize that maybe you are the acception? I fall under the very same catigory as you do…….born in 1955 makes me an old hunter too, but I am CERTAINLY NOT the enemy that screwed us back in 1994………I love my AR-15, My AK-47 “type” semi-auto rifle & my incredible totally tricked out Ruger SR-22 with over 50 AR-15 accessories including $2000 in Eotech & other brand Optics & scopes that fit all 3 rifles. I also own several hand guns & a conceiled carry permit. Sorry, but I love my 2nd ammendment rights just like you, and they will get my guns when they pry them from my cold, dead hands.

  • Randall January 25, 2013, 10:16 am

Enough of the name calling we ALL need to stand together as gun owners. If you are a hunter and do not think other law abiding gun owners should own one that is fine. But please keep it to yourself.

Remember and attack on one gun owners choise of weapon to have is an attack on all.

If they start with the so called assault rifle and magazines then someone committs a crime using a pump shot gun they will try to ban that then if they use a ddbl barrel they will try and ban that. Then a single shot and so on till no guns are to be owned.

And forget about handguns they are next right after these so called assault rifles.

A bolt actio rifle with a scope on it will be called a sniper rifle …you can’t own that.

Once they start they will not stop this time!!!!

  • Mark Schmitt January 25, 2013, 10:12 am

They’re only gonna let us have muskets because that’s what the founders meant when they said “arms”.
So… You can say what ever you want as long as it is only heard by people within ear shot of your voice or in print if you handwrite it or use an 18th century printing press.
How did we allow them to take it this far?
Why do we allow them to call our rifles and guns “assault weapons”?
    ‘Cause it sounds cool?
“Look at this! This is my assault weapon! Looks bad-ass,right?”
“Yup. You could shoot up lots of folks with that!”
Who wouldn’t want to ban an assault weapon?
Is a baseball bat an assault weapon?
In the hands of a major league hitter, it’s sports equipment.
A table leg in the hands of a mugger is an “assault weapon”.
An assault weapon is as an assault weapon does.
My AR-15? I like to shoot it recreationally with whatever capacity magazine I choose.
I think of it more like sporting equipment.
How about we ban people from calling my rifle and ones like it an assault weapon?
    Where will it stop?
Maybe one day our table legs will be made of foam-rubber.

  • Bobby January 25, 2013, 10:04 am

Lots of good points but a little to the extrem. It is not about the act of guns it is about the 2nd Admendment. The constitution which was drafted to protect our Country from what history had proven has happened time and time again, Government control. That is why we need to have the wright to bear arms to protect personel freedom from government control. Yes people are cattle we can only hope there is enough backing to support the 2nd Admendment. I am a hunter, a CCW carry, and have contacted my state reps over and over on this subject. So people even if you are against guns, that is your wright, the constitution is what gives you your wrights. You let them take one away from you more will follow. WAKE UP.

    • Big H January 25, 2013, 12:21 pm

I agree wholeheartedly! Some of these writers and responders need to ask the Australian public if it was a good idea to let their government get a gun control foothold and research what it has done to their violent and home invasion crime #’s. The government will always make public assurances and promises that these laws and bans are not progressive and some might even believe they are not. The truth is these laws and bans are progressive by nature. Just look at income tax when it was first implemented. Look at the why and how it was supposed to work and what the politicians promises were about it’s limitations. Their promises about what it WOULD NOT BECOME. It did exactly what they promised it would not x10. By their very nature these laws are progressive. Only a fool would ignore history and assume or believe that restrictions WILL NOT lead to more restrictions, to more restrictions, and on and on and on…….. You get the picture.

I also agree with the responder that is appalled by the retailers that profess to support or oppose an issue when they are merely supporting their bottom line ($)! If this were not the case, they would not crank up the prices 100 – 150% every time these laws are on the horizon. They are actually taking guns away from many who they claim to support by pricing them right out of the market. I am a retired state peace officer and avid gun owner. I have been using and handling guns since I was a boy old enough to hunt, but on a fixed retirement income I can not pay these ridiculous prices so not only am I not giving them my business but also am so disappointed in the industry for treating their loyal patrons with such disregard.
I hope your shareholders are happy. It seems that’s all America’s business’ care about anymore.

  • Greg January 25, 2013, 10:04 am

Many middle class gun owners voted for the Great Divider and are now shocked at his true agenda. We told you so. He gives powerful guns to Islamists and ignors the constitution by making honest citizens guns criminal instead of enforcing the gun laws we already have.

  • jq2intx January 25, 2013, 10:03 am

Now that I have written to my Senators and Representatives, I want you to understand something about your rhetoric. I am a member of a militia unit, I am a conservative, and I use an Android Tablet, just like so many others in this nation. We are not idiots, we are law abiding citizens of this nation. Many of my friends want me to join GOA and I have thought about. This kind of rhetoric says NO WAY! I am a member of NRA, but the rhetoric there is getting to be the same thing. Calm down folks, don’t insult the people you want to reach, don’t make us out to be stupid because we use the tools that available to us. I was born in 1945, I served in the Armed Forces of our nation for a total of 12 years, my brother is a 100% disabled vet from Agent Orange. So stick the rhetoric about being idiots, and stick to the truth about what is being done to our Constitution. We are not fools or idiots, we are Americans.

  • Ed Hansen January 25, 2013, 9:52 am

“Hunters are historically traitors to the 2nd Amendment.” Your ignorance confounds me. I’ve never meet a western hunter that didn’t support the 2nd Amendment. Obvivously you have never been to Idaho. If ya got a bone to pick with hunter do it, but this is too important of an issue to use divsive statements to alieninate a substantial number of gun owners. Divide and conquer from within, really!

    • Administrator January 25, 2013, 10:11 am

You are ignorant to the history of the 2nd Amendment, and you apparently don’t listen very well either. Who do you think Obama is talking about when he says that “a lot of NRA members support” his anti-gun agenda? Do you think it’s the guy at your club shooting his AR with his kids every other weekend? He is talking about one gun hunters.

      • Ed Hansen January 25, 2013, 11:15 am

One gun hunters, never met one. Most I know are Vets like myself, CCW holders like myself, own multiple rifles, handguns and like myself actively support the Second Amendment. The point is most hunters aren’t your enemy but they are the majority. I would rather you solicit their support in order to fight gun controll than alienate them as you are doing. Just as all AR owners are not monsters all hunters are not ignorant idiots that support Obama.

        • Administrator January 25, 2013, 11:18 am

So call your friends and tell them to contact their legislators.

        • VOS January 26, 2013, 1:23 pm

Be careful, vets! I have noticed an alarming number of characters in TV shows that resemble the “crazy” ‘Nam veterans common in ’70’s movies and TV shows. Dressed up with “PTSD” terminology and the recently broadcast stats on veteran suicides, it looks as though we’re being prepped to accept that retired/inactive military should be disarmed for the public good! I normally reject most conspiracy theories with a smile and a knowing nod signifying my superior wisdom and understanding, (I’d never be dumb enough to believe that), but the steady drummbeat of manipulation and disinformation can’t be an accident. Somebody(s) is driving us over the cliff, all the while working to convince us we’re having a nice ride.

    • Steve M January 27, 2013, 6:21 pm

Well Ed, I will give you the benefit of a doubt and say maybe you weren’t around in the 90’s for the first AWB. If you were, and paying attention, then you will remember as I do how the hunters willfully threw us under the bus. “No one needs magazines holding more than X rounds”, “No one need X for hunting”, and on and on. And that is happening again. They were traitors. Anyone who talks like that is a traitor. Anyone who thinks the 2nd amendment is about hunting is an ignorant traitor.

  • D. January 25, 2013, 9:51 am

Check your facts: Germany was completely disarmed by the treaty ending WW1 and gun freedoms were mostly restored by the gun laws of 1938 EXCEPT for Jews and other suspect groups. The gun law promulgated on November 11, 1938 applied only in (recently conquered) Austria and Sudetenland.

BTW, I don’t like the tone of your rant. Get a grip.

    • Administrator January 25, 2013, 10:14 am

It is sniveling traitors like you who sold out their own people in 1938, and the same thing is happening now to Constitutional American’s now. This isn’t about rounding up Jews, yet. It is about calling freedom loving Americans potential terrorists, which has been going on for a long time. “Mental health” will soon become lockstep with government values, and traitors like you will cheer it along because you think you area patriot, while freedom crumbles.

      • Domingo Tavella January 25, 2013, 10:33 am

        Dear Moderator,

Your use of language is offensive and unbecoming of a “moderator”. Nobody here is a traitor, and mental health is a national crisis that needs to be addressed. Please refrain from calling people names, it is childish and totally inappropriate.

  • Dan January 25, 2013, 9:43 am

Kieth you must be so proud of your great king that you voted for! When you are done watching CNN (communist news network) at night you must get on your knees and worship him right! I mean he has done everything you wanted! Given you your free stuff, raised taxes on all Americans and supported our enemies. Fools like you will be booted out of this country when we stupid gun lovers take our America back!

  • Mark Grigg January 25, 2013, 9:41 am

I agree that our government has no right to change or take ANY of our rights. Look at the statements of our founding fathers, and you will see that the 2nd amendment was put into place for us to protect ourselves from all threats, foreign and domestic, and by the way, I have and will contact everyone I can in our government to let them know where I stand on this issue. That being said, I swear if you slam the people you claim to be one of again, I will delete this website and everything about gunsamerica from, yes my iPad, and will still be a gun owner, a protector of the constitution, and a proud American. Yes, encourage people to get off their butts and be heard, but to cowards, stupid, or a host of other name calling that I have seen lately, is juvenile and shows a lack of thought on your part, equal to what the government is showing. The people reading these messages are generally of the same intent as you, and should be reminded of how to be heard by government, not slapped for not doing things your way. If you really believe we are stupid, and need to be controlled, maybe you should run for the whitehouse. You’d fit right in.

  • G D Gamblin January 25, 2013, 9:37 am

I promptly tried to call my 2 Texas senators. One said “mail box is full” R something equivalent. 2nd call was told switchboard closed R something equal. I suspect few if any emails or call ever reach anyone interested. I am sick of the whole damn outfit. Most need hanging and the remainder sent to hard labor. They are useless. I say they depend on able secretaries who could do their job just fine.
Inaugration day was the sickest thing in my 82yr. memory. What price has been paid for the lilly livered bastards to have this beautiful country to live.

  • Allen Muma January 25, 2013, 9:36 am

Send your letters and emails!!!! I have sent emails and/or letters to ALL my representatives, both at the federal level as well as the state, to include all Chairs to standing committees dealing with crime. You need to be heard on this, and it will be close. We need EVERYBODY to defend our rights. Send those letters now! If you don’t do your part, don’t bitch when bad things happen.

  • Frank January 25, 2013, 9:34 am

I sent an email to everyone from the VPOTUS to my local representative, yesterday. What everyone seems to forget is that the 2nd Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights, part of the Constitution. This document was written as an absolute; it can not be changed or modified from it’s original form. Our founding fathers did this because they knew all too well that tyranny can raise it’s ugly head at any time.

The only way that the government can justify their actions is for everyone — including government representatives — to give up their weapons. This is something that they will, of course, write into legislation that they can retain their guns. In my opinion, this justifies all members of Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches to be brought up on charges of treason as it goes against their oaths of office to “Preserve, Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Let’s face it; all Obama is trying to do is force into compliance with the UN directive for all people to be unarmed. What better way to become a servant than a citizen? There were no AR-15’s used at Sandy Hook. We know that, now. So why keep going after “Assault Rifles”? It would be prudent that the government know what the definition of an “Assault Weapon” really is as they were banned in 1934 . . . and unless you have a FFL Class 3 license, you don’t have one.

This is all about control, and nothing more. If the POTUS was that interested in “Saving Children” he should rescind the law that allows late term abortion. The government — under the guise of Planned Parenthhod has murdered over 1,000,000 children before they had a chance to become a citizen, yet there is no outrage.

  • jq2intx January 25, 2013, 9:34 am

I have written both Senators and my Democratic Representative in the House. I know my Senators will work against this madness but I wrote them anyway to let them know that I want them to do so. Here is my email:
“It is my belief that these gun control laws will not stop criminals from getting and using guns. What it will do is disarm law abiding citizens who have broken no laws, done no harm to anyone, and, are being punished for being law abiding citizens.

It is my hope that you will find a way to stop this madness in the Senate (House). Historically, gun control measures have done little to stop crime. I read a road sign while driving in San Antonio, The sign said that there had been 3800 fatalities in auto accidents in 2012 on Texas highways. Yet we don’t ban automobiles, we ask people to drive safely.

Thank you for your work to protect and defend our Constitution.

  • Alan Robinson January 25, 2013, 9:31 am

  • Robert January 25, 2013, 9:17 am

This is a response I recieved from my senator in Pennsylvania:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about the tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue.

As you know, on December 14, 2012, an individual in Newtown, Connecticut forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School and opened fire on teachers and staff in the building. In total, the perpetrator murdered 20 students between the ages of six and seven years old, as well as six adults, many of whom heroically sought to stop the shooter and save the lives of children. Like many Americans, I was deeply affected by the scope and brutality of this act. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

The motives that led to this senseless massacre will likely never fully be comprehended. However, I believe that all public officials have a responsibility to work to prevent such an event from occurring again. This incident reflects a complex problem that requires a comprehensive strategy, including funding for law enforcement officers and the mental health care system. Too many individuals with mental illness are not receiving the services they need and tragically, sometimes a small number of these individuals turn violent. I have supported access to affordable and accessible mental health services for all Americans and I will continue to review proposed solutions to improve our mental health system.

As you may know, I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Pennsylvania has a fine hunting and sporting tradition, and I will defend the right to bear arms as it is enshrined in our Constitution. However, I also believe that the attack at Sandy Hook Elementary School highlights very serious dangers posed to public safety by the misuse of certain weapons and technology originally developed for warfare. According to reports, the shooter was able to kill many children and adults very quickly because he possessed a military-style semiautomatic weapon. He also allegedly used magazines containing up to 30 rounds of ammunition and carried hundreds of rounds more. After much reflection and careful study of the issue, I have decided to support a federal assault weapons ban as well as legislation restricting high capacity clips. In light of what occurred at Sandy Hook, these are two measures that will lessen the chances that this will happen again soon.

Our Nation has already begun a critical dialogue as we examine what steps must be taken to prevent this type of tragedy in the future. On December 19, 2012, President Obama announced the formation of an inter-agency task initiative, led by Vice President Biden, to study these issues and recommend possible actions. I look forward to reviewing these proposals, as well to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address this complex issue.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or any other matter of importance to you.

For more information on this or other issues, I encourage you to visit my website, http://casey.senate.gov. I hope you will find this online office a comprehensive resource to stay up-to-date on my work in Washington, request assistance from my office or share with me your thoughts on the issues that matter most to you and to Pennsylvania.

    Sincerely,
    Bob Casey
    United States Senator

P.S. If you would like to respond to this message, please use the contact form on my website: http://casey.senate.gov/contact/

Unfortunately, this senator does not support our 2nd amendment right.

  • Mike January 25, 2013, 9:14 am

What we all really need to realize is that this is going to be a long fight designed to wear down the average gun owner. Obama is a community organizer, and he knows he will loose this fight this year. But he will organize a systematic and carefully crafted assault over the next two years against all of the members of congress and the senate who oppose his gun control agenda. He will attempt to fill the seat in congress with people sympathetic to his cause. These people will OWE him their seat and will follow him like he is the Pied Piper. He won’t need a super majority just enough to fill the airwaves of his willing accomplices in the media to bombard the rest of America that it is only a small majority of gun owners are being unreasonable. And the casual gun owner who owns one or two guns for self defense will not see the hidden agenda and agree with him and he will get his way! This Universal background check IS a backdoor registration scheme. The Federal Government has NO Constitutional power to regulate the private sale of ANY private property! Because unless you sell something to some one in another state it does not fall under interstate commerce which is a power granted to the federal government. We must stop this universal background check scheme! Bad Guys steal their guns, they do not buy them from you and me! WAKE UP!

    • James January 25, 2013, 3:20 pm

I agree. I have considerable experience in gun politics, something of a student of it, and the editorial seems to have hit some sore spots which illustrate why the editorial is correct. First in politics is power, then money. We don’t have a lot of money and the media is not our friends. Previous poltical tactics are to demonize and demoralize gun owners, divide gun owners over what is a good gun versus bad gun, and create a sense of fatalism. Gun owners are their own worst enemy, too. NRA is the power, and the more who join it and contribute, the more it will be feared by anti gun politicians. Live free or die is a nice slogan, but I’d prefer to just kick their ass in politics.

      • Steve M January 27, 2013, 6:14 pm

^^^ This. What James said. It hit some sore spots and illustrates why the editorial is correct. Yes, I am talking to the touchscreen idiots, hunters that were traitors in the 90’s, and Democrats. Thank you.

Really Rob? That is what really motivated you? Truth hurt much? He is trying to get people off their computers, E, and TV, and make a difference. If you were a real man, you would look at the spirit of the article and not focus on one sentence and then get your panties in a twist.

Screw that I am writing and do not listen to NRA, I react to what I read and see. Written several times and got little response back.

  • Rick January 25, 2013, 9:05 am

Hello? Bueller? No amount of emails, letters, or phone calls will change the upcoming course of events. This agenda has been bubbling for a while and your “elected” officials do not care for your opinion.

Second, you right to defend your life, liberty, and property comes from your humanity and is inherent. No piece of paper grants you said rights. No man can give you a right, they can only take them away.

Third, Hitler did not ban guns, they had been banned since 1928. Hitler eased restrictions on the people he liked, not on the “inferior” classes. Lenin recognized the threat of an armed public as well and attempted to disarm his people.

Four, when they outlaw firearms, which is coming regardless of what the statist NRA does (Gun Owners of America is a much better group), your responsibility is non-compliance if you believe you have a right to defend your life, liberty and property. Tyranny is the end state of all forms of government, and we are rapidly approaching this state.

The shepherd does not care for the sheep for their benefit, but for his own.

How about enforcing the laws that already exist instead of ruining our 2nd Amendment rights?

    • MadMaxx January 25, 2013, 9:50 am

I agree! A HUGE proposal and not very difficult to understand…and yet it happens. Many of those violations are due to loopholes in existing laws

    • Kevin January 25, 2013, 10:39 am

Biden has already said law enforcement cannot enforce the laws already on the books…. but lets make more

    • xve January 25, 2013, 2:46 pm

      Hi John:
That is what you and other need to communicate by email ,petition,or letter. It is important that you and others do not sit back but are active in protecting you rights. The opposition has a lot of press. We who oppose must get to congressional and state and community representatives with our opposition. It must be unending.

    • CrustyOldGeezer February 3, 2013, 7:35 pm

How about registering corrupt politicians and bar them from public office?

  • steve H January 25, 2013, 8:57 am

We can also talk to people whom we come in contact with everyday and try and educate them, the grass roots movements have just as much power when they have public opinion behind them. Contact the reps in the congress and badger them, don’t let up, let them no comprise will not be tolerated, send them copies of the stats from the fbi and others.. Guns may kill about 3-7K victims a yr. but killers will use other means from hammers to gasoline. Drunk drivers kill and paralyze tens of thousands and doctors kill 250,000-300,0000 a yr. In the numbers most murders are committed by inner city youth from 16-28. A person bent on killing is going to use any means available because they are a killer. Gun control in Amerika will lead to Control of the people and as a slave already can we afford more runaway govt.?

  • Todd Reich January 25, 2013, 8:54 am

I personally have contacted all who represent the state of Florida, those in my district, and even our president himself, regarding this matter. I already have responses from all, with exception of President Obama, himself. It appears that the American people are asleep at the wheel on this topic. I was told that action had to be taken due to all negative responses they received, by mainly the young liberal generation that have no regard for what this country is supposed to stand for. Not complete unharnessed Government control. We the people are supposed to have a say in what happens in every aspect of all laws they come up with. We dont. It appears to me, that this land is in serious trouble. We are being over ruled by a form of what appears to be like communism. What about banning violent video games for our youth? They seem to have lost good morals, and tend to have their judgement impaired by wanting only to protect their liberal rights, which they will lose completley, regardless of what they think. America has been sleeping too long. I don’t feel we all should have to be subject to this, due to some parent who allowed access to her gind by her unstable son. It was her responsibility to keep her weapons locked up, safely away from any child’s access. There is a safety act which she did not follow. So now, we all get penalized? It’s more like a conspiracy. All we can do is try to get everyone to speak up. We are losing more rights/ freedom each year. WAKE UP AMERICA! “Rock the boat”…. Take a stand for our constitutional rights. Freedom IS NOT FREE….

  • peter hernandez January 25, 2013, 8:40 am

Please forgive me if I sound radical, but because of my own life experience I firmly believe that Socialism is just a stones throw away from Communism. My father used to say that Communist are like termites, they chip away unnoticed until it’s to late. It should come as no surprise that there are curtain elements of our society (Socialist) who believe that the U.S. Constitution is outdated and their ultimate goal is to re-write it. I can only imagine what the new one would be like; “Bill of rights” what is that??

  • Jim L January 25, 2013, 8:39 am

    @Neil,
Hitler disarmed Jews. German citizens were allowed to be armed, but Jews were not considered citizens. They were, however, German Jews and hence German.

    @Combat vet,
Please tell your party members to wake up. They won’t listen to us because we’re “evil”. Perhaps they will listen to someone among their own ranks.

  • Heinlen January 25, 2013, 8:25 am

Here’s the letter I received from Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio.
    Dear Mr. Heinlen:

Thank you for expressing your views about firearms legislation.

As a United States Senator, I took an oath to defend the Constitution. The Second Amendment makes clear that Americans have the right to own guns, and the Supreme Court over time has given meaning to this right.

When our children and families are no longer safe at our schools, in our malls, and in our movie theaters, then we as a country must take action. The shocking numbers of public shootings throughout the country last year, culminating in Newtown, Connecticut, demands that we engage in a serious national discussion about gun violence, not just in terms of weapons and bullets, but also including mental health access, public safety officers, and our responsibility both as individuals and a society.

Like all rights, it must be balanced against others. I have supported restrictions on the possession of assault-style weapons so our public safety officers are not put at increased risk, and restrictions on the ability of criminals to possess handguns but I fully support the right of Ohioans to own firearms.

Should the Senate consider this issue in the future, I will support common-sense reforms that protect both public safety and the rights of gun owners. Thank you again for contacting me.

    Sincerely,

    Sherrod Brown
    United States Senator

  • Rich Heipp January 25, 2013, 8:24 am

The real blame here is the education system (or lack of) the press and the bought and PAID for judicial system. The only thing the Country really cares about any more is the cash n their pocket and the right not to work and entitlement.

The grand fix is in and we are to late, Big brother has shut us down, we can no longer assemble speak freely or defend our homes and families without the threat of arrest. The drug culture in society and television (tell a lie) are to blame for the dumbing down and pacification of the general populous since the 1950s and continues on today. Without a earnest effort at real education people are mere drones being told what to do and when to do it. Our own money has also been the down fall of our country via greedy business men who can never get enough much like crack heads. They have sold off this country piece by piece to foreign interests and now that we are but an empty shell buried in debt we have turned to steeling from the others around us and selling them short for that capital fix.

I see uncontrolled inflation, out of control spending and a lot of stupid people walking the streets. One only needs to watch any late night program as proof or any of the morning net work shows. The scales of justice in this country are in need of re-calibration so they can be zeroed out again. The Government is to big and out of control from the Feds to the local levels. We need not a tea party that was done over 200 years ago and freed us from over taxation but know we are right back where we started, we again are being over taxed and it is the direct fault of the American people for not staying on top of the government we put in place. WE NOW NEED TO BOYCOTT our own government and pull the rug out from under its feet. We need to shut down the supply chain to Washington and the local governing bodies until reform,. spending, over taxation and equality is met and lets not forget having our right fully restored. If they want to send in the storm troopers (Bullies) it is time to fight.

  • peter hernandez January 25, 2013, 8:18 am

I remember Fidel Castro’s slogan right after taking power in Cuba; “Arms for what” we are here to protect you, you don’t need arms !! Shortly after came a voluntary arms turn in, and like lambs to the slaughter people turned in all kinds of guns, and those not willing to turn their’s in were arrested and their guns confiscated anyway. I do believe history repeats itself and in my opinion it is starting here now…..

  • Carey January 25, 2013, 8:12 am

Your editorial hit the nail on the head! Even though all of my supposed elected officials are Dems and in lock step with the Liar-in-Chief, I’ve still written them, emailed and called the dim-wits.

My state legislators are more inclined to listen and I’ve written, emailed and called them too.

Oh, I live in Massachusetts does that tell you something?

  • Mike S. January 25, 2013, 8:12 am

Our friends at Fox News didn’t lie to us. They simply reported what the pollsters were saying. The pollsters were saying that the race was too close to call or giving Obama a slight edge. Three million republicans didn’t turn out. That’s why we lost the election. If the gun owners don’t turn out we will lose our guns.

    • Administrator January 25, 2013, 9:41 am

truth…. finally. dems=repubs, repubs=dems. at the end of the day, they all belly up to the bar and gorge themselves on vodka that we pay for. the slate needs to be wiped clean, and real term limits must be the law of the land.

  • steve January 25, 2013, 8:06 am

I beileve that kids should be tought how to use weapons ,why they should respect them ,and when to to use them .as growing up we were tought that guns are not toys not to be played with as toys .That is the same thing that I teach to my two daughters ages ten and fourteen. I beileve that if more kids were taught this that the shootings would end.

    • Alan January 25, 2013, 10:46 am

Steve you are correct,The root of this is lack of respect and proper training.Young people who are around guns and those who aren’t need some training on safety and the cosequenses of misuse of firearms.Very important and very few are stressing this as part of the solution.NOT part of the solution is attacking law abiding citizens rights in any way!

      • Ricco February 2, 2013, 2:22 pm

Everyone seems to be skating around the fact that our kids generation is a very violent one, and these kids are well trained or self taught. I bet each kid that did the killing these past few years in schools can dissassemble an AK-47 or an AR-15 with their eyes closed……and I bet they were good shots too. We NEED to teach our kids the difference between right and wrong AND gun safety……one is no good without the other. Our kids generation is a violent and dangerous one, more than any other in the past generations & I don’t understand why……do you? Actually, I do know part of the reason, but that’s an entirely different subject.

  • AAFoster January 25, 2013, 8:06 am

I did….contact your legislative reps and let them know your thoughts…be civil, short, to the point……let’s keep America and NOT become the New Soviet RepubliK of AmeriKa!

  • Amanda January 25, 2013, 8:05 am

***if you want to you can copy and paste this letter…
***We can NOT LAY DOWN and assume it won’t pass!!!!
Sorry for the typos-spell correct is a damned thing sometimes!!!

  • Amanda January 25, 2013, 8:02 am

Here is a copy of the letter I’ve been sending out to my senators and reps. If you and to copy and paste- feel free, just add your own name at the bottom and write in your senators/ reps name on top. We need to bombard them from every state against this legislation!!! We can lay down and assume it will go our way!!!

    Senator ,

The Second Amendment is in place for us as law abiding American Citizens to be able to defend ourselves against a rogue government! That was its intention – to protect us if the government wants to force a takeover. Unfortunately, scare tactics from a tradgedy are always used by governments to take over control of the people they govern. This knee jerk legislation by Feinstein is no different!! And is again a tactic to begin to remove all of our rights under the constitution!
This card has been played many times. Tragedy=control of ‘people’ with new law “for their protection”.

Petitions against more gun control to the Whitehouse were shut down by the very government who is “asking for input”, because they were getting too much support. Standing up for our rights and freedoms by whatever peaceful means necessary has been and is our First Amendment right, Freedom of Speech.
I am personally against any of this legislation about gun control and I stand with ALL those who do so as well. Any of these laws will only make it easier for a government takeover, period. They won’t help protect any children or anyone from gun wielding maniacs who don’t buy their weapons legally anyways!! Guns and ammunition magazines don’t kill people! NONE of these laws will effect criminals! That’s why they are called criminals- they don’t follow laws anyways!!
These proposed laws ONLY tie the hands of law abiding citizens, of those who might otherwise be able to protect themselves and their families.
I think every tragedy is horrible, especially when involving innocent children, don’t get me wrong-I am a mother and would be worse than devastated! But legislating LAW ABIDING CITIZENS out of their right to buy and own what they want for their own protection is VERY WRONG!!! Children safety at this point is only a sales pitch to get the heart strings involved and encourage as many as possible to agree and go along with handing over their Rights willingly!
Again it’s a perfect example of big government using a tragic situation to take more control of the everyday Joe/Jane and being one step closer to dissolving the constitution.

    > DO NOT ALLOW THIS LEGISLATION TO PASS!!!

    > IT IS CRUCIAL THAT YOU VOTE AGAINST ANY GUN CONTROL LEGISLATION!!!

    > IT IS CRUCIAL THAT YOU ENCOURAGE ALL OTHERS THAT YOU CAN, IN YOUR TRUSTED SEATS WITHIN THE GOVERNMENT, TO DO THE SAME!!!!!

Thank you for your attention and support of your constituents Constitutional Rights as Americans!

    • jeff January 26, 2013, 12:15 am

Amanda, I am assuming you don’t have any F-16’s with GBU’s in your garage/hangar. Maybe that’s over reaching. I am assuming you don’t have an M1 tank in your garage. oops, there I go again. I am assuming you don’t have a cannon in you garage and also a million RPG’s. You gave up your right to maintain weapons parity with the USA over a hundred years ago. so let that go. Can you also tell me what militia you belong to, that gives you a right to bear arms? Perhaps you are a reservist like I was? In that case, I’m sure all your weapons are stored behind 3 secured barriers like ours needed to be. Please don’t tell me that you are an untrained civilian that has an AR-15 in the closet. Please don’t. That would so discredit your right bear arms as part of a well regulated militia.

      • Shavri January 31, 2013, 11:47 pm

Sorry Jeff but you are so wrong that even the liberal th circuit court as well as the supreme court says that the 2nd amendment does not require you to be part of the National Guard or well regulated militia

      • Ricco February 2, 2013, 1:49 pm

The well regulated malitia it refers to is a civillian malitia, not the government malitia. As far as being highly trained,mt of us are…..I know I am. And for those who are not……we the people can train them, it doesn’t take very long to do so. I want everyone here to remember that most of us are much more concerned with defending our families from criminals than a revolution with the government…..c’mon man, we need to be as well armed as the criminals who break into our homes, not as much as what the military has, after all, last time I checked, the military is on our side when it comes to gun control….at least so far.

        • Ricco February 2, 2013, 2:04 pm

When I say “not as much as the military”, I simply am refering to tanks and rocket launchers…..stuff like that…..we definitely have the right to own the same rifles and hand guns. I do ‘t knkw about you guys, but I would love to own a “thumper” on my AR-15….maybe then I would outgun the criminals……………..”thump”……………….Boom! Just a little gun humor! Or is it?!?!

  • karl January 25, 2013, 8:01 am

thank you i don,t know whats wrong with everyone

  • mike marriam January 25, 2013, 7:56 am

This is going to be a battle but I believe we can win it. Unjust laws have been passed before and overturned. People forget that Kennedy was killed with a bolt action rifle. Eventually someone is going to go on a rampage with an 870 or 700 and the class of assault rifles will grow and calls to outlaw sniper rifles will be made. Than the low speed high drag crowd will recognize the error of their ways and the pendulum will swing back the other way. At least that is how I hope it goes. If the try to confiscate guns I’m afraid it will go the other way fast.

  • ray January 25, 2013, 7:55 am

This is all true. People said in 1994 that a ban could not happen and you see what actually did happen. But lucky that one had a expiration date…. this new proposed ban DOES NOT! Contact your congressman and let them know you awont stand for your 2nd amendment right to be trampled. If this does pass (god fordib) it only will be the beginning. (Just look at australia ) everyone needs to fight (legislatively) to stomp this out and send a strong message that our right will not be infringed. If you don’t welcome to 1994 all over again, but if we stand together as one voice we can defeat this radical administration, together we stand, devided we fall, and if we fall what will come after wont be good. Everyone stand up and say no to this new gin ban! Don’t just sit there and let other speak up for you, it wont be loud enough.

  • matt January 25, 2013, 7:53 am

It looks like we might be idiots for more reasons than one…. Looking at things like SHOT, it amazes me that we’re pointing the finger at clear opposition. Those people have an opinion and it is clear even if it doesn’t make sense. The people running SHOT and most gun shows around America, along with WalMart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and others are pretending to be pro-2A, and are not. They’re wolves in sheep’s clothing. Claiming to be Pro-2A and not allowing people to carry a LICENSED and PERMITTED gun on premises is nonsense. So is deciding to carry “Sporting firearms” and choosing NOT to carry “Real” guns. Telling customers that it’s against the law to sell ammunition after 9pm is not a good way to show your 2A support, general support for freedom, or to show your decency. A liar is a liar regardless of their motive. It looks to me like we’re being lied to by “Our own” now, too.

    • Kevin January 25, 2013, 10:19 am

WalMart, Dicks, Gander, to name a few, have pulled magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and military style weapons off their shelves.
Cabelas recently boycotted the Eastern Sportsman Show in Pennsylvania, because the venue banned the sale and display of these politically incorrect items. Shortly after Cabelas made their announcement around 300 vendors followed suit. They had to cancel the show and are reconsidering their stategy.
      Rock on Cabelas!

      • Administrator January 25, 2013, 10:20 am

The show was cancelled because NSSF stood up against Reed, who manages both that show and SHOT Show. Kudos to NSSF as well.

      • Ricco February 2, 2013, 1:25 pm

We need stuff like this to happen from now on……this is what gets the attention of the people & the government…..boycotting B/S gun shows that don’t have the balls to do the right thing…..I say boycott them all if they kiss the ass of our government.

    • Stefan Bourg January 25, 2013, 2:35 pm

Shame on you walmart, you are NOT the company that sam walton envisioned anymore. you are supposed to help empower the people. my 2 local walmarts told me they were not going to stock any more ammo because of pending legislation (this came from corporate, i was told by employees of walmart) walmart pay attention here. we will vote with our dollars!!!

  • Josh January 25, 2013, 7:49 am

The same thing happened the last time he got elected. We had the SAME ammo shortage and the SAME gun rush. Has it ever occurred this whole gun ban is a diversion tactic to draw your attention away from something else. That’s right conspiracy theory…

  • Frank Brodeur January 25, 2013, 7:47 am

I have been in contact with both the Presidents office, the vic3e president, my state and federal legislators, and have voiced strong opposition to these new turn of events. The vice president and the president both sent replies which acted like I was supporting there agenda when that was far from the truth. Its like they never read it, and just had a one sided email response for everyone, no matter what your views were. I argued that the mentally disturbed are where the real issues are. On Facebook I explained my views, and one of my first responses was from a mother who had a son who had mental problems and she had attempted on more than one occasion to get them addressed with the same results each time. The mental hospital would hold her son for 4 days attempting to address the problem through counselling and medication, but in each case after 4 days the insurance refused to pay any more benefits and her son was booted out of the hospital. I explained this in the letters to each of the people who were elected to protect out constitutional rights, and the only one who responded like he was actually reading my email was my state district representative. Mr Luekemeyer, of Missouri, sent me a letter explaining his battle to protect my gun rights and the 2nd amendment, admitted to being and supporting his membership in the NRA, and upon reading his response, I felt he had addressed every concern I raised, even the mental health issues. I am still considering framing that response as he not only emailed me a response, he actually mailed the response with his letterhead snail mail. I can only hope he will run for a post in the federal government next term, as I would vote for him in a minute.

  • Wil Ferch January 25, 2013, 7:47 am

Correct and agree. I have formulated my own, self-written response and have sent that to the White House, State governor, my representatives, radio stations, newspaper outlets, my local gun clubs, friends and colleagues. I encourage everyone who reads this to do the same.

The aspect and topic of “need” came up in this article. Apparently some people are saying “I don’t see the need to have this style of gun or this capacity of magazines”. This “need-test” and questioning is improper and needs to stop. To compare, ….who “needs” a 500 HP car that can go 200 mph for travel in the United States? Maybe I personally don’t see the “need” for someone to have such a car, but I will not and cannot begrudge those that do. There are countless cars that have this characteristic and are legally available for sale in the US. As long as the car is legal for sale in the US, it should be viewed as OK…and the same with Military Style ( let’s coin our own words…not “Assault Rifle”) weapons.

Going further, a grandmother asks her grandson why he skateboards in the city. She might say she sees no “need” for him to do that, and that it is dangerous. He also says to her, he sees her knitting with knitting needles, and sees no “need” for her to make clothes when they are so cheap to buy,… and by the way, those needles look dangerous. It is always very easy to say SOMEONE ELSE doesn’t need something when it does not fit YOUR OWN sensibilities. A dangerous path to take with discussions.

Let your voice be heard and contact all your legislators and representatives on these gun-ownership rights issues !!

Ban the “need-test” in these discussions…it has no place here!

    • David Steen January 25, 2013, 9:23 am

Very well said. But I fear that we have already become unaware Serfs,as our “Representatives” rule over thier tiny kingdoms. Look how many get elected and become Lifers, Ted Kennedy for example.

  • Ironcutter January 25, 2013, 7:44 am

Sorry, meant to add comment, not reply. Stupid iPad!

  • Greg January 25, 2013, 7:41 am

I just left the following comments for my legislators…
I am totally against ANY restraints on the 2nd amendment and gun ownership. The 2nd amendment was not established for “hunting”. It was established to ensure that the population of a free society had the means to ensure that freedom from an oppressive government. Please understand that whenever you vote on anything related to this topic. Nobody wants to overthrow the US Government, but nobody wants to be walked over by this same government as well. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!

    • jim January 25, 2013, 1:14 pm

      great letter! Everyone send it!!!

  • Chris January 25, 2013, 7:35 am

I feel the NRA needs to lay out the truth in a well planned strategy about what the government is actually planning, That would entail doing exactly what the opposition is doing (press conferences, mass emails, ect) Turn the tables on the lies being told and expose the liars for who and what they are…….IF it’s worth fighting for then it has to be done down and dirty and take the gloves off……….NO MORE MR & MRS NICE GUY

  • Kevin Hernan January 25, 2013, 7:33 am

This is not only about gun control, this is about absolute control ultimately. When you ask America this question ‘Who is George Soros”? Most people, especially liberal Democrats will tell you they don’t know. This is simply because they don’t pay enough attention. When Glenn Beck tried to educate America on Soros, they removed his show from TV. Now he is on the Blaze. The truth is Soros and Obama agenda is to change the face and freedoms of America and they are plotting to remove all weapons from us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QkNg7AYvaM&sns=em , Obama wants to bring America down as the superpower we are and equal with the rest of the world. Obama wants to be the Tzar and Soros as well. Youtube Sosos- Obama’s boss and hear his speak.
Like Charleston Heston, they will have to remove my guns from my cold dead hands.’

  • John Johnson January 25, 2013, 7:33 am

There is only one form of communication that can make a difference. It’s not ranting to friends and neighbors, or posting on Facebook or YouTube – it’s e-mailing or writing your Senators and Representative. Keep it very short, courteous and firm. Don’t threaten them. Just e-mail them “As a voter, I strongly oppose any additional restrictions on my constitutional right to purchase and possess currently legal firearms, and ask that you vote against any such proposed legislation.” If you’re smart enough to access and read this Guns America site, you’re smart enough to find out the e-mail address of your legislators and send this note. If you don’t communicate with them, you have no right to bitch about the results.

  • John Huff January 25, 2013, 7:24 am

The gun owner has been duped for years. Bill Clinton and Hillery were the worst. I remember Hillery stating that they would disarm this country before they got out of office, and almost did. Now we have this mess. I find it hard to understand when parents are not allowed to discipline there children, and yet we are suppose to teach them responsibility.I raised my children around guns, I thought them to respect a firearm and how to use one properly.I wounder what doctor Spock would say about his ideas about child raising now.

  • John January 25, 2013, 7:08 am

This is a response from what appears to be a supportive Candice Miller from Michigan:

    Dear Mr. —–

Thank you for contacting me regarding President Obama’s recent proposals to address gun violence. I appreciate your opinion and welcome the opportunity to respond.

The murder of innocent children in Newtown, Connecticut was a heinous act that demands action to better protect our children. It is unfortunate that the Obama Administration is focusing far too much on the method used instead of the root cause of why it happened. The vast majority of firearm owners in America are law abiding citizens simply exercising the right of self-defense for themselves and their families guaranteed by the Second Amendment of our Constitution.

Criminals, by their very definition, do not care what the law states, so the only people impacted by stricter gun laws are those who seek to obey the law, not violent criminals. The fact of the matter is that there are already numerous laws in this nation protecting against the unlawful use of firearms that are simply not enforced. If the Obama Administration and states across the country want to reduce the criminal use of firearms it is time to start prosecuting those violations to the full extent of the law and take the guns out of the hands of criminals by putting them behind bars.

And if we truly want to stop instances like Newtown, we must look into all of the issues that may have contributed to the problem and can serve as real solutions to future violence. We must address the issue of an inadequate mental health system in this country that has failed to identify those who may commit these types of heinous acts before they happen and treat them effectively. The President has suggested some small steps in this direction; however more has to be done. We need to also attend to the issue of violent video games and movies that desensitize our children toward violence and death. Nothing we do will stop those disposed to violence if we do not attack the root causes of these tragedies.

The Obama Administration’s proposal is largely focused on diminishing the Second Amendment rights of law abiding owners of firearms with new laws which the President himself has stated would have done nothing to stop the attack on Newtown. I cannot support that effort. It is disappointing that President Obama’s political supporters in Hollywood who peddle violence and death to our children through violent video games and movies have been given a pass in this process. It is also disappointing that the President has not put forward a plan to take decisive action in improving a mental health system that has allowed these types of potential killers to fall through the cracks, only to allow them to carry out violent attacks. On one hand, this proposal is an overreach of executive authority and on the other, it is inadequate in addressing the root cause of the attacks.

I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House on legislation that is designed to truly protect our children without diminishing the constitutional right of law abiding citizens.

Again, thank you for your correspondence. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my office. OMG, That is the same letter, almost word for word, that I received when I wrote my Senator, Mike Bennett, in Colorado. Wow, what a coincidence! Thank you John for enlightening me. I am afraid this is a strong argument for the futility of contacting our representatives. Yet another “right” that has faded away.
      God bless America.

  • Bruce Pyatt January 25, 2013, 7:08 am

I agree it is time to write, call or email your legislators before the bill is presented.
You don’t even have to leave your chair to email them.

  • doug January 25, 2013, 7:02 am

odumbofurher is counting on the UN’s small arms treaty to tke our guns away. This gun control nonsense is a smoke screen. When you call/e-mail your legislators tell them to vote against the law of the sea and the UN small arms treaty. Get the USA out of the UN and the UN out of the USA. I’m sure we can find a better use for the UN headquarters building in New York city.

    • David Steen January 25, 2013, 9:16 am

I agree, wouldn’t the UN building be a great place to house our HOMELESS VETERANS,instead of it being COMMIE CENTRAL ?!!

  • Randy January 25, 2013, 6:48 am

I have been sending emails to them Every week, at least. I will also call. I’ve been getting all of my family, friends, and neighbors to do the same. I don’t know how many people are emailing and calling, but I know it is a lot. It could be a lot more though. If you own a firearm of ANY KIND, you need to be involved. They will come after yours next.

  • robert burton January 25, 2013, 6:28 am

i votee against barry seotoro (barak his legal name) and signed several petitions so why dont the rest of you guys get up n do your job

  • Pablo January 25, 2013, 6:21 am

You took the words out my mouth (so to speak). I heard the Clinton “warning” and knew it to be a rouse. Or to use the arfcom speak “It’s a tarp”. We should not even be considering backing off – yet some people are! Keep writing, keep donating, keep joining and most importantly talk to casual hunters and firearm owners and let them know. Our 2nd Amendment must be preserved and is REALLY being attacked, if you doubt this go to POPVOX and just see how much anti-gun legislation has been introduced in the last couple weeks.

  • kyle January 25, 2013, 6:20 am

This is somewhat a form of spiritual warfare. Our guns represent our freedom in America…

  • rsun January 25, 2013, 6:17 am

already sent my 2 senators and my rep a letter, tried calling but failed, will have to keep calling them back till they pick up, i guess! Only one country with the second, get ready to defend it or you will lose it, don’t wait for the other guy to carry your responsibility for you , please everyone do it now

  • Kenneth Pinion January 25, 2013, 6:14 am

Why haven’t we heard from the gun manufactors on this issue? I haven’t heard or read anything on th internet about the osition of Kimber, Brown or Wilson, what I do see all of them are offering what amounts to a “Fire Sale
” With the price gouging and shortages you would thing they would publicly make a written stand?

  • Maria Stahl January 25, 2013, 6:11 am

    • Rich Heipp January 25, 2013, 8:31 am

      Sheep, spare us.

  • Kurt L January 25, 2013, 6:06 am

I wrote to my governor, senetors, representatives, mayor, etc…and got a BS form letter reply obviously written by one of their lackies. In the replies from them, everything pointed to the same outcome…they all support the assault weapons and mag ban. It is a crime that some time ago, they forgot that they are OUR employees, not our masters whom we have to accept and bow to. It seems that freedom is slipping away in our country, and yes, it is OUR country…not theirs to control as they desire. Please, everyone, keep writting so that they will realize that they will, at minimum, be committing political suicide. Maybe self preservation will motivate them even though they should know that they should stand up for what is right, not what is made popular by the strategic media. I wrote them back asking for a real response but received nothing in return.

    • Chris Foltz January 25, 2013, 10:13 am

I have NO REPRESENTATIVE here in Maryland…& I’m about as pissed as an AMERICAN can get!

  • Don Linker January 25, 2013, 5:54 am

    Legislators

The heat is on and the Constitution is under attack, we as Americans should stand up and let the politicians know that the rights we cherish, the rights that so many Americans have given their lives defending, should be defended by our “elected” officials. The same rights that the President recently took an oath on the bible to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. I am an American and along with countless other Americans, we Vote!!!!!!!!!!

    • Chris Foltz January 25, 2013, 10:08 am

Communist here in Maryland are right now crushing the constitution & a billion phone calls won’t make a difference here… O’Malley & his followers in Annapolis are all TRAITORS!!!

I really hate to be or seem confrontational, so please just take this how it is meant, constructively. The correct phrase is Hear, Hear! As in Yes, listen, HEAR him, listen to him, I agree. There is enough posturing and confrontation on this site without mine and that is not how this is meant. Thanks for hearing me.

  • john hutchison January 25, 2013, 4:48 am

hi fight back or lose it support gun rights more then ever iam fighting lookhttp://www.youtube.com/user/johnkhutchison1?feature=mhee

    • Ironcutter January 25, 2013, 7:42 am

I agree with everything you wrote in your article. And since I read this on my iPad, my only comment/criticism is that your derogatory toward tablet users is unfortunate. You obviously put a lot of thought into your writing, but follow your own advice and be inclusive, not divisive. You were 100 percent correct, people are uninformed, so inform them, don’t insult them.

      • Phillip January 25, 2013, 8:27 am

It was a metaphor. That you take offense because you own an iPad, demonstrates the validity of his point. I own an iPad as well, but took no offense.

        • Ironcutter January 25, 2013, 1:05 pm

The validity of what point? That people who don’t agree with him are idiots. I wasn’t offended nor coming to the defense of tablet users everywhere. BTW, do you even know what a metaphor is? I was commenting that the author made good points, but shot himself in the foot (an actual metaphor), by insulting and condescending to people who don’t see things his way. I just don’t think that is a wise tactic.

          • Stefan Bourg January 25, 2013, 2:06 pm

Pansie, suck it up, you are using up all the kleenex the comrades have provided to you for the month.

          • Phillip January 26, 2013, 6:22 am

Yes, and it was. Less direct than your example, but a metaphor nonetheless, for a group of people electronically connected but cognitively detached. I don’t believe he shot himself in the foot at all. He fired a round over your head and you ducked.

  • Steve Weed January 25, 2013, 4:40 am

I am an ipad addicted “idiot”. I have contacted my gov. Officials numerous times (on my ipad) about this b.s. of trying to chip away at our 2nd amendment. I don’t appreciate you calling me names. This ipad has been a great tool for me to shop for guns, learn about guns and the crap the gov. Is trying to do (its way eisier to weed through the b.s. and lies than watching t.v.!) and even contact government officials (p.s.it is a lot more effective than licking envelopes and looking up addresses!) . Maybe your bias toward touch screens has to do with your age or the pop culture your kids tend to use them for but to me, if the envelope and pen is a musket, my ipad is a firkin “assault” weapon.
    Have a nice day.

    • Art Edwards January 25, 2013, 8:37 am

I agree 100% with Mr. Weed.

This name calling has to stop.

I believe that it would be extremely beneficial to have a majority of Americans in support of our Second Amendment rights. It seems unwise to alienate the youth of America by calling them names, as in “touchscreen addicted idiots.”

You are also demeaning older voters, by saying that the “old hunting crowd” are “historically traitors.”

Rather than alienating huge blocs of voters by calling them names, would it not be smarter, and more effective to attempt to win their approval?

      • Administrator January 25, 2013, 9:43 am

        another fidiot traitor

        • Tom February 3, 2013, 1:38 am

Seriously? What exactly was traitorous about suggesting that not insulting entire generations of people

I identified with the majority of your post, but the insults and your attitude in the comments here make me want to have nothing to do with you.

You’re pandering to the people who already support you, and instantly alienating people who you’re trying to convince.

          • Administrator February 3, 2013, 10:48 am

Wake up Tom they don’t support the 2nd Amendment. If they do let them stand up and say it, but instead they have come on here to present the “reasonable gun laws argument” to which they are intolerably ignorant. Stand with us if you stand with us. But if you don’t, and you are just a casual “hey this is fun” shooter, we are going to call you out and tell you that if you are not with us you are against us, and you are part of the problem. We have deleted over 100 comments on this article that say “you guys are a bunch of paranoid nuts.” Are we now?

      • Chris January 25, 2013, 10:43 am

I agree that any further dividing of our bloc is a very bad thing, and you’d be wise for both political and business reasons not to do it. Try saying things like, “while you may use ol’ trusty bolt action, your grandson would love a Remington R-25 for his first deer season!” Also, the ipad generation really was partially responsible for the huge AR-15 sales numbers. It is no coincidence that the Modern Warfare games, and our very real war, featuring all types of awesome special forces/secret squirel types coincided with that boom in AR sales. Try bringing them in deeper, rather than showing them that this shooting thing isn’t what they thought that it would be.

That being said, right after the tragedy several “gun rights” republican reps sided with the anti gun crowd saying that they didn’t know anybody that would hunt with an AR. Well, I’m sure that’s true, but unless you were hiding under a rock for the last 40 years, you should know that there are plenty of people out there that do hunt with ARs, and way more that use them for sport or defense. What’s more, is that you should know that it doesn’t matter if they are hunting rifles or not. We have it in our national identity to own firearms and bear responsibility for our own well being.

      • Jon January 26, 2013, 9:37 pm

I am a teenager, I like guns, I make websites, I do minor landscaping, and I use devices with touchscreens. I am currently 17 and I can’t wait until I am 18 so I can buy my first rifle. I have already contacted the President, VP, my reps, and my Senators. Thanks for not cutting myself and my friends out (all of my friends are gun guys and can’t wait to buy their own)!

      • Steve M January 27, 2013, 6:01 pm

Get over it Art. You know good and well what the author meant and I am glad someone is pointing it out. And the older crown, the “Elmer Fuds” sure are by and large traitors. I remember vividly our “friends” the hunters throwing us under the bus in the 90’s. If they don’t want to be looked upon as traitors, then they better back us this time.

      • joepublic January 28, 2013, 3:44 am

Yes here too! Many touchscreen addicted idiots were, and still are, our men and women in the middle east. Many of them do support gun ownership. We can already look at our government and see that constant bickering, name calling and complete and utter uncooperative policy making will garuanty that absolutely nothing changes. So, if we as gun owners wish to be taken seriously, we need to put aside our petty political differences and become a new political force. One united over this common issue. We may not agree on much else, but this we do and we are the majority! I am amazed that even though a supposed 60% of the population supports further gun restrictions, every time I click on a related article, all the comments are from pro-gun people. Maybe we should have a pro gun march. Every day millions of gun owners go to work, pay their bills and don’t even shoot somebody…simply amazing! Maybe if every working gun owner decides to bump up their dependents to say 11 maybe on Febuary 1st (2-1-2013), for the remainder of the year, we can make ourselves heard. Washington cant continue to function with so little tax money comeing in! Together we can make a very strong statement!

      • Ricco February 2, 2013, 12:17 pm

All gun owners need to come together and unite as one big organization and fight for our rights, together as ONE. However, hunters were traders to us back in the nineties, that’s a fact. Now what we need to do is to make sure that we all come together because it’s all of our problem, including hunters. We MUST act as ONE, or we will fail miserably……& that is exactly what they want us to do…….destroy ourselves from within. If anyone here is not a registered voter, register now, without your vote you are useless to us & no threat to our Reps at all. This is the beginning of a slippery slope that cannot be stopped later on down the road……it has to be done NOW. I am very curious to see just how loyal we all really are to our Constitution…….just how far we’ll really go.

    • Wade January 25, 2013, 9:20 am

Those of you who are offended by the “iPad idiot” comment in the above narrative are missing the point of the use of that term. The term was used to describe those millions of Americans who generally live their lives on and though electronic devices, who generally accept everything they read on the internet, and who lack virtually any intellectual and historical curiosity (and thus any perspective) about the dangers we face in these dangerous times. (I refer you to the Honey Boo Boo, Kardashian pop culture we live in). We all know people like that – and it is certainly more common among the poorly educated younger generation. He was not denegrating everyone who uses an iPad, touchscreen or computer simply because they use those devices.

      • jim January 25, 2013, 12:54 pm

Finally a little intelligence… Use technology to our benefit, but let’s not forget to get out there and do something. Educate yourself, find the facts for your self, organize protests, use those smart phones and send a barrage of phone calls to your representatives. These things will definitely wake up even the most ambivalent representative.

    • Chris Foltz January 25, 2013, 10:02 am

True That!!! DNC commie-techies creamed the repubes in getting their Anointed 1 elected…still wondering why here in Maryland the Conservative’s aren’t challenging the Martin O’Malley’s New Americans(illegal aliens) voting here…election was rigged…

  • James Burns January 25, 2013, 4:33 am

We the People, Has had a strange ring to it for sometime, We have lost our rights sense the George Bush, nobody has paid attention!!!, The Day After 911 they (The Bulderburgs) Have met with every Presidental canditate
and Both Bushes met them, including Hilary Clinton and Obama, But back to loss of Rights 911 The Pat. Act, we have lost Constitutional rights, they (The Goverment) have pushed us in a deep hole, and have prepaired for this manditory gun register, then ammo control clip control then gun round up, this has been their plan All Along you
better Wake Up My Fellow Gun Owners or it will be Too Late!!!… We must not let the paint anyone as a nut because they will try ,Why they have people to monotor our and ever web site print bad and misleading facts so
we stay asleep, then report us, and If you think there isn’t a list then you are already lost, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO PAY ATTENTION!!!!! Call All your Friends to Arms Call your LEGISLATORS NOW!!!!, Befor It’s Too Late
A CALL TODAY KEEPS YOUR GUNS IN THE HOME NOT WITH A GOVERMENT TAKE OVER, They Will Try US…..

  • David January 25, 2013, 4:06 am

Your absolutely correct, most gun owners will not contact the legislators because they all think someone else (The NRA) will do it, or they believe that it won’t make a difference! Well that’s is exactly how we will lose the 2nd amendment rights, because most Americans are to stupid, to lazy, or to ignorant to get off their asses, to the right thing!
I guess some 70 something year old former KGB agent is laughing right now of the dummying down of the American capitalist… Now who really won the Cold War comrades…

    • Chris January 25, 2013, 11:18 am

If you believe contacting your “representatives” makes a difference I have a bridge to sell you. Ever hear of TARP–(Troubled Asset Relief Program)? Our so called “representatives” were told 400:1 not to bail out the banks. Guess what? They passed it anyway. They no longer work for you and haven’t for a loooong time. Plan accordingly.

      • Ricco February 2, 2013, 11:52 am

But we still have to send out these emails and letters to show that we’re doing everything we possibly can in a non- violent manner because if we don’t they’ll say that we obviously didn’t care & we did nothing about it, so we have to accept the ban on weapons. So continue to write your letters & emails, it’s very important. Just remember that the person that posted they won’t do any good is probably right.

  • Neil January 25, 2013, 3:19 am

I agree that the media is in lockstep and that they have a carefully crafted strategy to make us complacent. But there is a reason the media all agrees on this, and it is YOU who is the idiot if you fall for the JPFO “damage control” propaganda lie that Hitler disarmed the German people. The reality is that he did nothing of the sort but rather he eased firearms restrictions. Look at the principal people behind all of this! Look at the most powerful groups pushing it! Look at the ownership of the media outlets pushing it! How about you use YOUR brain?

    • Stefan Bourg January 25, 2013, 1:53 pm

Troll, you commies might win the war, but the sane american public (gun owners) will win the war. Hitler disarmed the public with his tongue and the ink pen. to you and your “control buddies” we say “MOLON LABE”

  • COMBAT VET January 25, 2013, 2:58 am

I don’t know why whoever writes these nonsensical, paranoia-filled rants hasn’t been fired yet, but if we actually want to win this fight, we’re going to have to grow up a bit and recognize that there are FAR MORE GUN-OWNING DEMOCRATS, ALL OF WHOM GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION, than many are apparently willing to admit. We don’t all subscribe to conservative ideologies, we are mature enough to passionately disagree with President Obama, and still support him otherwise, etc, etc. So when you, sir, tell me I don’t give a damn about the constitution I swore to uphold when I served in the infantry, you only disgrace yourself, and push those plethora of like-minded supporters away. You state that this isn’t about Obama. Well act like it then. Stop with this “Obama’s kids” argument, as it’s crap. Thus far, the NRA has done more to hurt us than help. I for one have not stopped writing anyone and everyone I can. So when it comes to calling gun owners fools, speak for yourself. And cut the damn right-wing rants if you really want to win this fight. This is about ALL AMERICANS. Not just those who vote republican. Oh, and if you were duped somehow into believing Romney had a chance, you were ignoring facts. Something that has become all too common these days among all Americans.

Yes, as a Jew, the holocaust stands as a great impetus behind my unyielding support of the 2nd Amendment. Yet I’d be a fool to ignore that the same type of fear-mongering that lead to the death of 11 million innocents is right here in this rant above. Stop attacking us, stop calling us fools, stop assuming we’re all so damn far right we’re almost left, and start putting facts and evidence before emotion.

    • Phillip January 25, 2013, 8:21 am

If, sir, you are indeed a Jew AND a veteran, and you also voted for Obama, then I would contend that it is you who are the fool…….

      • Len January 25, 2013, 11:54 am

        I agree …

      • Kitty Hawk February 5, 2013, 2:53 am

        I also agree.

        • Kitty Hawk February 5, 2013, 3:02 am

It makes no sense to me why a Jew, one who has served in the military, would vote for a man who has done considerable harm to our nation and plans on doing more. Why are Jews so damn liberal? I’ve only met a few Jews in my life who would be considered conservative.

Liberals are progressives. They want to change America from its foundation to a socialistic state. They have pretty well succeeded doing this. They took over our schools and have been teaching our kids to hate capitalism. Yet it is capitalism that has made them all their money. Revisionist history as taught in our schools have turned our students against the country our Forefathers gave to us.

The America I was born in some 70 years is not even close to the America I see today. It is a shame.

          • Administrator February 5, 2013, 9:27 am

Because he probably isn’t actually Jewish. Possibly his father is Jewish and he calls himself Jewish when it is convenient.

    • 30 year vet January 25, 2013, 8:33 am

You apparently drank the Obama koolaid. There is no point arguing with a fool (liberal) vet or no vet, John turncoat Kerry is a vet too

    • Steve Lang January 25, 2013, 8:42 am

Thank you, combat vet, for saying everything I was about to. the writer for these rants certainly divides the gun owning public more than that unites us. this isn’t about the election this is about events taking place since the election, and trying to draw lines between us and Nazi Germany is getting very tired. please remember that just because we agree on guns doesn’t mean you can tell me, or assume to know, my politics. The last bit about the iPad generation, was especially ignorant. quit while you’re ahead and just encourage me to write my legislators

      • Len January 25, 2013, 12:03 pm

Those “lines between us and Nazi Germany” are disturbing aren’t they?
However, the lib dems before Hitler created the gun registration (for “the safety of children” obviously) and Hitler just used this database for confiscation. Also, if you read the NSDAP (Nazi) program you can think that it was taken from Obama’s web sight yesterday …

      • Gladstone January 25, 2013, 3:04 pm

Thanks, Steve. Oh boy. Nazis, Nazis, Nazis. That’s not getting us anywhere. Neither is writing off all of gun nut Democrats. I will fight against the DiFi bill with everyone on this blog, but I am not a Republican, conservative, conspiracy fetishist that votes on one issue. Plus your racist diatribes fit much nicely in the Nazi camp – that’s kind of their thing.Truth be told, the Nazis loosened gun laws for everyone except Jews (lowered the age; grandfathered gov workers; hunters; NSDAP members etc) – so at least there is a paradox for you lot to sort out. If this is really about gun control, stop alluding to fascist governments and belittling the war on Hitler and the Axis that reduces the valor of millions (including people who voted for Obama) to another political chess piece.

This is about a fundamental disagreement (they happen time-to-time) with the current conventional wisdom on gun control. It is much more exciting to create these doomsday fascism fantasies and it is certainly effective for rallying the fringe into the median, but it will do little to fight gun control with jettisoning so many others who share pro-gun views but not the rest of the Right Wing Manifesto. Then again, that might be your point.

        • Sparky January 26, 2013, 10:50 pm

The article doesn’t belittle the war against fascism and the NAZIs, it merely illustrates how close they were to the current administration. So sorry if you can’t see the parallels that the rest of us do. You sound like a thoughtful person, but with a giant blind spot. We are living with modern day tyrants, and they are Democrats. Period.

So, were you out writing on the web sites when George Bush and Dick Cheney took a dump on the constitution and carried out their warrantless wiretapping? How about when they manufactured stories to trick the American people into going to war, costing us close to a trillion dollars, killing thousands of our young men and women in uniform, and leaving hundreds of thousands permanently injured?

My guess is you didn’t say a thing. Because as long as it’s a Republican raping us, you don’t mind a bit.

          • Administrator January 28, 2013, 2:35 pm

It is people like you who are traitors to real freedom. You sit in your armchair and congratulate yourself on how smart you are, without taking the actions to actually preserve the freedoms you take for granted.

I had a PHD once,.,,,, the handles broke on it and switched it out for a shovel.

    • Reluctant Warrior January 25, 2013, 8:45 am

Sorry, Bro, but you’re wrong. It’s not fear mongering. Look at recent legislation that has passed because too many Americans thought that it wouldn’t, but did nothing to stop it. If you are indeed “awake”, you’d do better to calm the hell down and stop tearing into the writer and try tearing into other gun owners. I have no idea what you’re pissed about and am more inclined to believe you’re a troll than a 2nd Amendment supporter. There are VERY few Democrat supporters of the Constitution, contrary to your understanding. If in fact there where, I’d imagine we’d hear more about it. Maybe you could take some of that “rightous” anger and use it to rally support of these supposed constitutional democrats. T

This fight will be won by fighting, PERIOD. Had fewer illegal immigrants and dead people voted, and more republicans had gotten off their rear ends and voted, Romney might have won.

As a Jew, which I’m suddenly skeptical of now, you would know that it wasn’t fear-mongering on the part of the Jews, but that of the German, and many Europeans in general, that let to those many fearful deaths. You’re blaming the victims for the acts of the criminal. He’s not attacking he’s rallying, and you do sound more like a fool than not. And what are these “facts” that you keep talking about. All he’s presented is fact and warning and the only on that is spewing some terrible amount of emotion is you. All the more reason to believe that you are NOT a gun-owning, 2nd Amendment supporter. If in fact you are what you say, thanks for serving, brother. There are damned few. However, YOU need to wake the hell up and shift fire. Turn about and rounds in the right direction.

The argument about that crap-heads kids is absolutely valid. The guards at the school aren’t just there for his kids, but the others as well. The parents want the guards and they have them. Why don’t we rate the same?

    • Troy January 25, 2013, 8:50 am

Ease up Obama baby! Perhaps if you yourself were a little less emotional and a tad more rational, you would understand that it is the naivety displayed that history warns us about. Read a couple history books and remove your political persuasion…jeesh! Brotha writin the article is tryin to help you keep your pistol!
      Carry on angry Obama baby!

    • BLH557 January 25, 2013, 9:10 am

Right now it is the Democrats who are falling lockstep, or maybe Goose-Step is a better description, in line with Mr. Obamao who has ALWAYS been anti second amendment. I appreciate your service, but YOU should wake up and see the reality of the fight. Democrats have become fascist. They are using their own political power to take things from people to either give them to others with their own ideology or they are taking them to obtain and concentrate their own political and physical advantage. THAT is the definition of a fascist.

As Thomas Paine said many years ago: “We will either hang together, or we will surely hang separately.”

Although I don’t necessarily agree with the tone of this author’s “rant”, the content is spot on and you, sir, have your head in the wrong place, unless you’re a proctologist. You are drinking the koolaide that will lead us all to tyranny and the thing is, you are such a yellow dog democrat you can’t see the truth for the propaganda.

      • Mike January 25, 2013, 7:00 pm

        You are “spot on” brother.

      • JV January 28, 2013, 1:11 pm

Actually, the definition of fascist is when the govt. and big business get together – that sounds like the Republican playbook to me.

        • AKFred January 29, 2013, 1:26 pm

JV you missed the mark just a little. There are more rich libs then cons. The rich libs are more then ready to pay that little extra tax so others with less can have more. Only problem is they move their money and business out of the country so they do not have to pay taxes or they just do not pay taxes at all. Warren Buffet one of the worlds wealthest men owes over $1,000,000,000.00, thats $1 billion in back taxes. He is a lib. Tim Geithner US treasury secretary owed over $124,000.00 in back taxes. He mysteriously received enough to pay it off, I wonder if he paid the taxes on it. GE paid zero in taxes last year, why their CEO sits on obamas advisory council, maybe? So stop the rant about libs vs cons. If you are a lib good for you, if you voted for obama then please leave because you simple helped this guy take away yours and my rights. He will turn law abiding citizens into crimminals. END OF STORY.

      • Louis760 January 31, 2013, 10:45 pm

        BLH
I missed the part on yellow dog Democrats. Laura Bush was a yellow dog Democrat. Read Kitty Kelley’s biography of the Bush family. There has not been a yellow dog Democrat since the 1970s. Once LBJ signed the civil rights act, that was the decline of the southern Democrat. The rest of Texas/southern Democrats were pro-life and followed the Reagan bandwagon to the GOP. Remember when Republicans were pro-choice? Again, read Kitty Kelley’s book. Where is Bob Dole when the country needs him? BTW, Reagan was the chief supporter of the Brady Bill.

    • Bruce January 25, 2013, 9:13 am

I could not agree more with the COMBAT VET the only folks that have anything to lose are those that sell military combat weapons, ammo, optics, magzines, etc to the civilian population. The horror story is that the gun manufacturers, ammo makers and the local gun shops are buying into it. There is no ammo, and where there is ammo the prices have been jacked. Gun prices are going through the roof. Shame on those of you who have perpetuated this ungodly show of greed.

The 2nd ammendment allows us to bear arms and I do not believe that banning AR’s will stop the heinous crimes committed by the criminal and mentally defective, however, I am not so sure the civilian population needs these weapons without closer scrutinty. There needs to be stronger requirements to purchase deadly weapons, to include classes similar to CCW, background checks, fingerprinting, and a waiting period all to be determined by state governments for all permits. I have shared my thoughts with my elected officials.

      • KevinVA January 25, 2013, 10:22 am

Your 2nd amendment rights were meant to protect you – not only from becoming a victim to an unlawful citizen/non-citizen, but also from the tyranny of government.

Let’s jump ahead to a somewhat ridiculous situation that probably won’t happen, but could: A lot of good that hand gun is going to do you, when you’re staving off a full-frontal attack from your fully automatic rifle-wielding brown coats. Technically, the citizens of this country should be able to match gun for gun, their own with the government’s if they fully intend to strike fear in the government that is supposed to serve them.

“When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” – Thomas Jefferson (alleged)

“Both oligarch and tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of arms.” – Aristotle

        This is an age-old argument…

        • Mark Davis January 25, 2013, 3:57 pm

I agree with KevinVA. Fight fire with fire. Back when the 2nd Amendment was written, British had muskets and the Patriots had muskets. Most of the Patriots had better guns like the Kentucky rifle that stopped the tyranny of the British goverment. So, why can’t I have a weapon that matches my governments tyranny.

      • j January 25, 2013, 10:35 am

I agree w/ Bruce. I’m really disgusted at those greedy individuals who jacking up the prices of their fire arms and ammo. I believe in capitlaism, and making a buck, but when one doubles or triples a price of a firearm you’re selling, you ARE just plain greedy!!!
Also, to those individuals that are paying those exorborant prices…shame on you, you fools!!!

      • Rosemary January 25, 2013, 1:16 pm

It is the federal government, that is purchasing up all of the ammo. They are the greedy ones pushing up the prices and rendering, possibly, most weapons useless, by this hoarding of hardware. It is a financial way of stopping the exercise of the 2nd amendment without passing a single law.

      • Stefan Bourg January 25, 2013, 1:40 pm

Troll, what part of “Shall not be infringed” do you not understand?

      • Steve M January 27, 2013, 6:59 pm

Oh you are not so sure civilians need certain things huh? Well Bruce, then you are part of the problem. See Bruce, the problem is that the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with crime. Or hunting. It has to do with protecting a free people from government tyranny. Now there are ignorant people like you who are susceptible to what you see on TV. Bruce, I am sure you are a nice guy, but you are really naive and stupid. The government and the media prey on people like you, and count on people like you to think that certain measures are legit. Oh, like having the doctors enter into a database who has guns. And, oh, what guns should people have. And what features. And how many shots. And how we need to have every person, and every firearm in a national database. For the children of course. And tell people about “common sense” just like the traitor hunters in the 90’s who threw us under the bus. See Bruce, you are really helping them along, aren’t you? I suggest you get with the program, or take a hike, but get out of our way. No compromises.

    • Merle January 25, 2013, 9:13 am

Well said! So tired of the gun nuts making it hard for gun owners with commen sense. The best thing that could happen to gun owners is for the creation of another gun organization, other than the NRA. An orginization that lets you pay your dues and does not try to shake you down monthly for more money. That does not fight banning cop killer bullets. NRA is full of one issue voters and no voter with commen sense casts their vote determined by one issue.

      • Chris January 25, 2013, 10:27 am

There are several organizations other than the NRA, such as the NSSF and state rifle associations, such as the Kansas State Rifle Association. Join ones that fits your ideals. The NSSF is a much less political orgainzation that in my opinion does much more good for shooters and hunters as well as helping us meet half way with non-shooters. The NSSF sponsors television programs and ad campaigns to promote the use of modern sporting rifles, otherwise known as military-style-AR-15-style-assault-rifles as viable hunting rifles, which they are. The NSSF works with the BATFE to come up with reasonable measures that are actually reasonable. They were the sponsor of the “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” campaign, and for the distribution of gun locks through “Project Home Safe”.

Now, for your assertion that the NRA fought for cop killer bullets. There never was such an animal. The bullet that you are thinking of is the Winchester Black Talon, which is just a very good hollow point defensive load created primarily for police, but sold on the civilian market. Neither group would have a need for an armor peircing round, so Winchester did not make one. The anti gun croud, which you are inadvertanly a part of, claimed that the oxide coating would allow the bullet to slide through armor, and that medical staff removing the bullet would cut their hands, and risk infection. This however, is an absolutely unfounded claim as expanding bullets are very bad at going through armor, and the coating, which is still used on other bullets (my .243 deer load, made by Winchester) only prevents copper fouling in the barrel. The claim concerning medical professionals was never brought up with other bulets, and strangely only applied to the Black Talon. Because of the outcry and the support for “resonable laws” from viewers like you, the Black Talon had the black coating removed, and had its name changed to Ranger, which has since been one of the most popular law enforcement rounds available since. Cop killer indeed.

        • Louis760 February 1, 2013, 12:17 am

The “cop killer” bullet was a premise. You need to have at least finished high school, and received the diploma, to get the concept. Thank you Merle; at least two of us has a brain in this forum.

      • Steve M January 27, 2013, 6:46 pm

^^^ Attn everyone: Merle is exactly the type of hunter traitor that the author was referring to. Note how Merle lets us know his dissatisfaction with the largest gun rights group in the US. Note how he is bothered by the fact that they need money to survive and do ask for donations. Note how he lovingly refers to certain bullets as “cop killer”, which is such an absurd technological argument as to almost be asinine. Merle is a textbook example of what we fought in the 90’s and was largely responsible for the first assault weapons ban. Hey Merle, I bet you are a “hunter”, right? Betcha think that’s what the 2nd amendment is all about, right? Traitor.

        • Steve M January 27, 2013, 6:48 pm

Also, I forgot, lets not overlook how Merle is showing us the favorite phrase from the traitorous 1990’s hunter handbook – “Common Sense”. Thanks Merle for reminding us of that phrase and how people like you used it to throw us under the bus.

    • Ross January 25, 2013, 9:28 am

I’m in the same boat as you, but I try to recognize that there are people out there who would like to see us disarmed. It is a fact that an overwhelming majority of these people belong to the democratic party. Just like it is a fact that most of the knuckleheads who talk about “legitimate rape” belong to the republicans. I back who has my rights under the most immediate attack in mind. Right now that is not the democrats. As much as gun owning democrats don’t like to admit that it is in their party platform to institute more gun control, it’s there. It is their responsibility to reign in those morons who support crap like this, and they fail at every turn, while the rest of us gun owners who just want to be left alone sit in fear while being protected by an increasingly weakening and out of touch republican party.

    • Bob January 25, 2013, 9:40 am

obama has done nothing but attack the entire constitution and bill of rights from every angle. You may give a D about the 2nd amendment but as an obama supporting demorat, you cannot support the constitution, sir. Conservative means resisting change to the country as founded. obama is the biggest liberal to come down the pike. Many of your first amendment rights have already slipped away and you supported that, apparently. If you can stop running your mouth long enough, you might re-read the article and find that many of your rants are misplaced by reading out of context. A little more intelligence and a little less big mouth, perhaps.

The REAL question is…Are you willing to join a revolution if weare forced to defend ourselves? That is the question we are all skating around here…..just how far are we willing to go to keep our rights? Isn’t that the real question? We are basically writing our emails to our reps so we can say we did all we could in a non-violent civilized manor before we are forced to defend our rights by revolution. I mean, let’s face it, the 2nd Ammendment rights are just the beginning….our 1st ammendment rights will definitely be next…..take our ability to defend ourselves, and then take away our right to speak about it……then convince all the sheep that WE are the enemy……history repeats itself. It has always worked that way. There, I said it…..Pandora is out of the box…..and you can’t put her back, we all know that. I am not saying that I want this to happen, but where else can this go if we do not give up and refuse to let them have our fire arms? Just my 2 cents….

      Combat Vet,
Yes, you state my thoughts exactly, except I’m not a Jew. Close enough. And I’m a vet too. I supported Obama for economic and other reasons and feel he needs to know that MOST of us Dem’s are gun owners or supportive of same. Almost everyone I talk to, friend, family, acquaintance or customer agree that there should be no ban, just better law enforcement, mental health care and perhaps background checks at gun shows. I go to them on occasion and see no reason why they can’t check on people and record sales in some regulated format that we can all agree on, same as when buy in a shop.

      • fred buschbaum February 6, 2013, 1:53 pm

When Obama first ran for president, he said loud and often, “we live in the greatest country in the world, and I want you to help me change it”. It seems odd that so many didn’t hear that. This man will not support the laws on the books that he says he doesn’t believe in. But, as president, he doesn’t have that right. His oath of office says that he must support and defend the constitution, (not just the parts he likes). Raised by communists, and taught by muslims, How many of you think he could be anything but what he is? A man determinded to destroy this country. By playing his game of squabbling about so many little personal affronts to our own agendas, we let him slip under our radar. He has also stated that he thinks that our constitution is obsolete and needs to be changed. Perhaps that is why he has surrounded himself with so many coms. and socalists. ( who will be surprised when they find themselves in the lines to the ovens with the rest of us). Our founding fathers put the 2nd. amendment in because they came from other governments that had no protections for the people and knew how pols. grow to think that they know better than anyone what’s best. While they do whatever will keep them in their place at the feeding trough. Anybody notice that while all problems are started by congress, that they don’t seem able to solve them? (don’t take responsibility for anything). doesn’t really matter which party they claim to be. WE MUST STAND UP LIKE OUR ANCESTORS DID!

    • KevinVA January 25, 2013, 9:59 am

      PHFT….

Any self-respecting combat vet or American would have seen the truth over the past 5yrs. The man you’ve presumably voted for (twice) is an anti-military, anti-American, anti-Constitutional enemy of the state.

In addition to this, talking to your Congressional representatives is a waste of time. We now live in an Oligarchy. The government doesn’t serve us – we serve the government. The majority of those in the House & Senate are teeming with legislative power and money. It’s gotten to their head and they serve only their selves. Don’t let the facade of an election process fool you. If it worked, all of the reported election fraud would have been investigated and this joke of a man “leading” our country never would have seen a 2nd term.

Like Russia, your rights are now a figment of your imagination. Go ahead, say something provocative in the public light to test your right to speech. Go ahead and try praying or talking about a Christian God in school. Go ahead and try to practice your states rights…

The progressive (Socialist) movement is in full swing and we’re too cowardly to do what’s necessary.

      • jim January 25, 2013, 12:05 pm

Amen. The average American is being lulled to sleep. If we dont wake up soon all your freedoms will not only be gone , but there will a long row to hoe to get them back.

    • MadMaxx January 25, 2013, 10:03 am

I agree we need to work together on this and allow some legislation to pass. Just keep in mind brother, many of those Democrats have the uncanny ability to speak of legislation that doesn’t invlove them…kind of a “do as I say not say as I do” attitude. Feinstein, for example, is just one of many that used to carry…now she has body guards to keep her safe while she fights for an assault weapons ban that involves less than 2% of all gun crimes. It’s a big knee jerk reaction that is leading to this mess and mostly on the behalf of US liberals in government. And looking at the stats, you are right… there are a boat load of Democrats that won guns…we just don’t hear about any of them in politics. They’re too busy supporting the “cause” knowing they’ll be able to keep their guns because of their position in society.

As a 19 year vet with a combat tour in Fallujah 2004-2005 and a certified weapons instructor, I do believe in a certain amount of gun control. Not everyone should be allowed to have a gun and everyone should have to be certified via a nice little one day course given by their state game commission. Unfortunately too many people fight every little bit of legislation, that none of the good ones get passed either…like thorough background checks, reporting a stolen gun or gun tracking through sales. Even estate weapons should have to be transferred via FFL to another person.

      • Administrator January 25, 2013, 10:08 am

fidiot you have been following too many orders. Don’t worry they will be calling you back up to fire on American citizens soon. You’re a true patriot.

        MadMaxx,
You can not possibly be who you say you are. You, sir, or ma’am, are what we refer to as a Troll. You start by attacking liberals, then give your “qualifications,” as if that means something on the interweb, and finish by promoting the liberal’s agenda of gun registration schemes.

“…reporting a stolen gun or gun tracking through sales. Even estate weapons should have to be transferred via FFL to another person.”

Please explain how your government plan to keep a record of what I own is going to keep a criminal from obtaining a weapon.

First comes REGISTRATION, then comes CONFISCATION.

Another Sonderkommando here. Those were the Jews who agreed to sell out their people to administrate the gas chambers and the big ovens. Yea, they were eventually mostly killed as well. They aren’t going to round up the Jews first this time. We have too many defenders here, called FREEDOM LOVING AMERICANS, and they will have to be rounded up as “terrorists” first. Then they’ll come after the Jews. Will you be a “democrat” or a “liberal” then? Will it matter what you believe or who you supported, because you didn’t do your homework when it mattered? If you are a democrat you support the teachers unions, gun control in the inner cities, and of course, Planned Parenthood in every inner city black neighborhood, but oh yea, you support the Sonderkommando black president who sells out his own people and keeps them as victims. Are you waiting for superman yet? We are, and so are all of those racial minority Americans living in our inner cities in fear, disarmed, with no prosperity or opportunity. Too bad a bunch of white kids got killed. Now we have to do something!! You are just another racist traitor to the freedom of all Americans, with a gun, today anyway.

Hmmm, I can see that the truth hurts. As a Jew (from the smart ones) I can add that in Germany most Jews voted for Hitler. Including German WWI vets who were probably saying the same stuff…

Combat Vet…..Nice words. I salute you and your service. I fully support your words.

    • Steve M January 27, 2013, 5:54 pm

If you are a Democrat then you believe in power of the state and not the individual. You believe in loss of religious freedom, higher taxes, infanticide, putting people into groups and dividing them, taking away states rights, you hate oil, business, energy, manufacturing, free speech, hate the NRA and individualism. And your party hates people having guns. In all the ranting you did, not one helpful thing came out. You are either a left wing troll, or a fool who better wake up and determine if this is really the party you want to be part of. The fact you were in combat don’t prove you have a clue what you are talking about. Maybe the truth hurts a little bit?

I, too, am beginning to worry…about the Homeland Security Force. My best friend, a retired woman with 30 years military experience, says that the military will NEVER turn on the American people. I’m not so sure. She’s always been right in the past, but times have changed. This Homeland Security Force may enjoy savaging U.S. citizens. I know that I’ll fight them. And I have no desire to die or “go quietly into the night”. I just feel that once the first shot is “heard around the world”, it will be a bloodbath, and will change America forever.

PHD stands for Piled Higher and deeper I mean come on we all know that BS stands for right? and MS just means more of same. So now you Know the rest of the Horror Story. I wound up with a PHD just because I had to write a paper on some obscure point in computer language an a gent by the name of Lee said it was worth the extra credit so some how I have four or five of those stupid wall hangers around. I was amazed at how thin the gold stamps on them are. I have books of gold leaf that have thicker leaves than that stuff.

All Five stamps have less than 2 cents worth of gold in them. even at the current price of Gold $1500/oz.

The Admin has this one pegged. I was in the Army and was left Permanently Disabled during a tour in Iraq and I have 2 BS degrees after I was medically discharged. One point and I will take a fidiot for my preamble because it doesn’t matter. Redneck? Illiterate? Gun Nut? where in your imagination is the evidence for your statements? Resorting to insults is just trollish behavior of a small mind. As the article says, the silent majority of 2nd Amendment supporters will get us an “Assault Weapons” ban similar to ’94 on steroids. Stay silent, or even worse: do what the NRA is putting out in it’s talking points. They blame violent video games and movies like Natural Born Killers (That film is older than the perpetrator.) If the NRA and the rest of us do not fight for our 2nd Amendment rights head on, we will find our guns confiscated, and made criminals. These chuckleheads at the NRA don’t speak for me, do they speak for you? We need a gun rights group with bigger BALLS. The NRA are a bunch of old guys who are going to talk us right out of our guns.

And am I the only one who wants to throttle Piers Morgan? I made the mistake of watching this Limey and heard him say over and over about ARs are only for killing you don’t need 30 round magazines, etc. He also said over and over about what guns Americans should be “PERMITTED” to own. “PERMITTED?” The Second Amendment is a RIGHT we don’t need anybody to give you permission to keep and bear arms, it is our Constitutional RIGHT!! Also why does no one call him on his bullshit when he says Automatic a.k.a. Machine Guns are “illegal”. They are not. You have to get an extensive background check and pay a $200 tax stamp and you can own a full auto machine gun. Piers Morgan needs to STFU and go back to England. The right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED! And before someone brings up the well regulated militia part of the 2nd Amendment.. I recommend they and every citizen read it. There is a comma in the middle of the Second Amendment separating a well regulated militia and the right of individuals right to keep and bear arms. Why is the comma there you may ask? Because The Redcoats were the well regulated militia at that time. You think Great Britain’s “well regulated militia” of the time wanted the colonist’s who were NOT loyal to the Crown to keep and bear arms? I think not.

By his logic, all cars should be limited to compacts. A Smart fourtwo for single and married persons with no children and a Ford Fiesta for people with family, all electronically limited to 65 MPH on highways and software to limit speed according to the area you are driving because we “DON’T NEED!” SUVS or sports cars. Plus they make driving more dangerous. But we don’t, we drive fast cars, and own bug guns with huge magazines because this is AMERICA!! we have the right to and it is cool.

        • SARJames January 28, 2013, 10:04 pm

Amen, right-on!! This is a battle worth fighting with everything you’ve got. If we dont snip it in the bud, we will have a revolution when they try to confiscate. I’d prefer defeating these elitist snobs sooner rather than late. What is truly needed “Is a hero”, “A Voice”, who can bring us together and unite us in this struggle. Failure is not an option.

Could not agree more and could not resist a response .By the way folks …who is responsible for Drunk driving Deaths ? The Car or the Driver ? Having migrated here 22 yrs ago from Au with…my now banned guns..i can say that in Au when there is a home invasion (out of control) and you manage to get to a gun Safe, knife or club and kill an intruder in self defense it is called Murder .You get 3 Squares and a room courtesy of the Govt. Also note that shootings still occur in Au and in many cases they are committed with…guns that have been traced to the Govt. Buy -back program !Criminals will always get guns and commit crimes with them and it seems the average Joe that is a law abiding citizen is waiting with abated breath to which way their rights are about to be infringed .By the way… knives are the weapon of choice in Au these days and Sticks and Stones next !I have lived all over America and must say that the crime rate in Au (mainly petty ) seems to have drastically increased over the years.I say to my fellow Aussies that home invasions in the U.S are minimal because…most Americans have a form of defense waiting for would be Rapist,Murderers and Thieves Called…Guns. The Americans so far in my opinion have it right so…lets all make sure that does not change.I am 48 and have weapons that have been in my family for 40 plus years and choose that they…will remain. The media all have their Political affiliations and use their power (The power of the Media) not to be underestimated to push whatever political agenda they wish on the American people and whoever else listens.Uprisings ,Wars and now a second attempt at a gun grab that i can see getting through if we sit by drinking their flavour of Cool_aid.I notice the rush on Guns and Ammo of which i am also guilty of. Shows me that we all believe in the inevitable. I hope i am wrong.

        • jim p February 5, 2013, 10:31 pm

I am a stalwart NRA member and will fight to the death my rights under the U.S. Constitution. On the militia issue, when the Constitution was being drafted in 1787 America had no standing army and the founders feared a corrupt government could try to subvert U.S. citizens like the British had the colonists before the war. To guard against that (even with the system they were creating that they themselves realized was an “experiment” in self-government) the people needed to be armed. The language of the Second Amendment was perfectly understood at the time, today it would read: “Since a well regulated militia is necessary for the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

      • Jeff Taylor February 1, 2013, 6:36 pm

If you think that a PHD makes you smarter than a redneck, then there’s your problem right there.

    • Mr. Bear January 25, 2013, 10:51 am

Contacting the president and the vice president will do no good. None. They have a destination in mind, they are walking that path, and they will not deviate. At most, they will pause a moment until the fury dies down, then continue walking.

Even most of the representatives from the “red” states are selling us out – but those spineless bastards, at least, want to keep their jobs. Contacting them might help. Might. Maybe. Perhaps.

The most important thing is to ensure that your family and your friends are on the same page. Make sure they vote when the time comes. Then find people who may not agree, but will listen. Convince them. Make sure they vote.

This has to be fixed from the ground up.

      • Conservative Gal January 25, 2013, 2:52 pm

Read that bit about the gun confiscation on Kristallnacht again. Then consider the fact that Adolf Hitler was ELECTED in a LANDSLIDE. Yup. Life was hard after the war (WWI) and he promised help – help for widows and orphans, free lunch and sports for the kiddies (which became the Hitler Jugend political indoctrination program,) and he gave the German people someone to blame for their problems. He promised to make the evil “money lenders” pay. (“Money Lender” was a popular term for “Jew” back then.) First it was only them, so everybody else said OK. Then it was just the jews and the really radical sympathizers who stirred up trouble. By the time most folks realized things might be out of hand, the guns had been confiscated and people spoke in whispers for fear they might “disappear” in the middle of the night.

The problem here is, the Marxists (and don’t fool yourselves, that IS what we’re dealing with,) have a longer attention span than the American voting public. (For that matter, so do the Muslims, who have long professed a “100-year plan” for conquering this country.) Each increment will be designed to appear not worth the fight. If you care about the nation you leave to your grandchildren, FIGHT.

        • jeff January 26, 2013, 12:05 am

Marxists have a longer attention span? Tell me about since they came into power in 1917 and collapsed in 1991. Anyone vaguely resembling a Marxist government is laughable. Are you really afraid of North Korea? Vietnam? China is now a capitalist country. Stop fear mongering, you look silly. FOX lied to you and keeps lieing to you.

say pal, Putin is a Methodist? and Russia is just the same as Canada? Oh, and the Chi-coms are the model of a capitalistic utopia? You sir, live with your head in the sand or in your 3rd point of impact!
I have a son-in law whom is Chinese, was going to school here in the 80`s, became a citizen, and has been back to China, several times. It is not a “capitalist” country. What you see is part of the 50 year, and 100 year plan. To Control the Masses! Educate yourself. The mongering sir, is being done by you!

          • LexingtonAgain January 30, 2013, 3:42 pm

I believe sir, that if you will check, the N. Koreans now posses both nuclear armaments and a delivery system. To succeed, they need only explode one of sufficient yield over America and let the EMP do the work. They have starved their people, but not their scientists or army. Their focus has not blinked and when the world threatens sanctions, they do not flinch.

          • lee February 2, 2013, 10:26 am

@ jeff,The marxists are alive and well in the U.S.all you have to do is look at the democrat party, which is also kmown as progressives.Progressives are what they began calling themselves after the McCarthy trials when they realized the communist party was not going to be able to take over our country in the revolution that communism calls for.Progressives beleive in,and have been practicing incrementalism for over 60 years now.Alittle nibblehere, alittle nibble there, and the next thing you know it is welcome to the U.S.S.A.

        • 1 January 26, 2013, 12:51 am

Hitler was never elected to anything. You better check your history again. He was appointed by the person he lost to in the election as a political deal.

        • Sparky January 26, 2013, 10:44 pm

You nailed it. Hitler duped the prols, the sheeple, just as BHO has done 80 years later. The trouble is that you and I see them for what they are, Marxists, while the 20 and 30 somethingers, the touchscreen generation, as the author aptly describes them, are incapable of seeing reality, and have been duped by the likes of Anderson Cooper and Rachel Madow into thinking that they are honorable men and women, with America’s best interest at heart. I don’t know if we have the time to wait for the young sheeple to open their eyes and “get smart”. They better wake up, as the country teeters on the brink of tyranny, there aren’t enough of us old-schoolers left to turn back the tyrants by ourselves anymore.

        • Barbindaboonies January 27, 2013, 7:22 pm

So far CG…..you are one of the only ones in this forum that has made any sense. I studied Weimar Germany myself, and lived there too. Born in Augsburg, but Gramps had to emmigrate to the US in 1886 because the Serbs were exterminating the Catholic Austro – Hungarians…….you know…..the assasination of Ferdinand etc. that occured BEFORE WWI….anywhoose……..The Ipod age Techno crats and Liberal Digital Zombiod average American of this day and age has forgotten or never learned their history.

They do not believe or understand that this country really is already Socialist Marxist …..they have no fear of big brother…..they actually believe that the multi-national corporate raiders in control of this economy believe in ‘peace, justice and the american way”. They have never read “the wretched of the earth”. They have no understanding of Sun TZU, they just want their next gen gadgets and a belief that everything will continue to be tomorrow as it is today. They are not cognizant of the fact that they are really slaves in a service economy which is about to burst. Massive inflation? Most people do not know how to bake a loaf of bread or get by on a barter system. The Weimar germans and Americans of the 1910’s are much better off than most of us will be because they had survival skills. Most folk knew how to chop wood or make clothes or put up stores for the winter. Now? Most people will die or give in and take the mark of whatever beast will allow them to live. The people better wake up and get prepared because our Freedom is precious and is about to be subverted and red taped into meaningless BS controlled by the few….the anonymous oligarchy now in power…..Soros is just one the new Seven Sisters.

If our right to defend ourselves is taken away……….then the America that I grew up in no longer exists.
I come from 8 generations of military on my father’s side. My brother is the latest in the family to defend this country. The military know that this country needs it’s weapons. But each individual has to stand up and say “enough”. We will not stand for any more restrictions on our freedoms.

      • Joseph Hollinger January 28, 2013, 2:04 pm

The most important thing Americans need to do is press for impeachment for failure to do what is requried of the Office of President of the U.S. Obama has not protected our borders and that is one of the tasks required of that office in the Constitution.

The ONLY THING that will stop what is going on in Washington is to insure that from this point forward, NO-ONE IS TO BE RE-ELECTED TO ANY OFFICE, Local, State, or Nationaly. Do not re-elect anyone. The Constitution provides term limits on those they thought should be able to serve more than one term, such as the President and the Vice President. Senators and Representatives in the House are assigned specify term lengths (six years and two years respectively) but there is no mention of number of terms.

That is because they inteneded for Senators and Representatives to serve one term and then return home and take up the lives they left in order to serve. We may miss out on some good people, but, we won’t get stuck with a bunch of idiots that stay in office so long that they begin to feel as if they are better and smarter than their constituents, that only they know what the People need because the People are too stupid to decide for themselves. Too long in office and they become elite Progressives. Progressive and Socialist are one and the same. Progressives have obtained the highest positions in both parties. Evidence to that fact was when John Boehner took Conservatives from their important positions on committees and reassigned them to less important duties.

Starting in 2014 be sure that YOU DO NOT VOTE TO RE-ELECT ANYONE no matter how good they are. We must totally change the way our country is run. We can do it without changing the Constitution we just have to work together. We must make sure that the United States remains “of the People, by the People, and for the People” and doesn’t become of the government, by Obama, for the government..

        • TJ February 4, 2013, 2:01 pm

I agree with you Mr. Hollinger. Nothing will change until we have real people with real life issues in politics.

I would also like to know why Feinstein feels the need to tell me what I can do in my State. I don’t live in the state of California and I am not a constituant of her’s. Stop overstepping your bounds. Do what you feel is right for California but leave Virginia and the rest of the Country alone!

      • Chris January 25, 2013, 8:52 pm

Howard, thats the liberal mindset. Goes back to the nanny state. She, like all libbys think common folk are not educated enough to make responsible decisions. In her eyes all gun owners are potential massacrist. Plus she is completely ignorant about firearms and in culture. Her statements to the press when she said” Hold at the hip and spray bullets” proves that fact! Libbys always attack what they don’t understand!

        • TJ February 2, 2013, 6:00 pm

Amen Chris! Human beings by nature attack what they do not understand because they are IGNORANT and it is in their nature as such. If you want the facts on any matter, it is best to find them on your own from a proven source that has been verified by an expert/professional whop has dedicated their life to whatever it may be.

Thanks for that helpful website. It’s a real pain trying to find email addresses for everybody. Seems most of our representatives, including POTUS & VP don’t have their own email accounts. They are all hiding from us. You can’t get anyone on the phone either. Forget snail mail, it usually finds it’s way straight into the trash can. Besides, as slow as the mail is legislation will have already passed. I had already written to almost all of them anyway. I even posted on their Facebook pages for all to see, I’m just waiting for the Secret Service or Homeland Security to show up on my door step. Together we stand, they want to divide & conquer.

Guns are just a more modern way for killing. If it isn’t guns, criminals would be using, knives, swords, and blunt objects to do the same things they are intending to do in the first place. Laws are only good for the ones that follow them and then again, citizens following the laws to perfection may end up as lambs to the slaughter a lot faster. Our government and the upper crust don’t have to live in the mess they have created and yet want us all to pull together to save this country. Explain to me how we are supposed to pull together. What are we supposed to do? It seems that almost everyone wants to own their own business and do less physical labor. I can’t blame them. Those of us who have destroyed our bodies for these companies only to get dumped on and sold out feel like what is the point. Build and sacrifice to survive so that the rich get richer and we fall off and die, been there and done that. After being robbed twice and being shot at because someone didn’t like the way I was driving slower in wintry weather, I want to keep my rights for defense and I would really like to keep my faith in America, it is hard to do, sometimes.

        That’s right Jim,
Ya know, there was a time when rocks off the ground were used to kill people. I know of someone who was killed by a border jumper with a piece of old fence pipe before he could see his new baby girl born. I once had a man who was either drunk, on drugs or insane attack me with his car. He was ramming my really nice 1970 Z-28 and after he ran me off the road, he jumped from his vehicle and came at me with an ax handle. If my cousin, who was behind us didn’t have his revolver with him, I might have died. I didn’t even know the non english speaking man who was beating me unconsious. I even had a very young man threaten to kill me one morning as I was backing out of a parking space on the way to church. He had a small nickle plated pistol, maybe .380, and he was yelling at me in a language I did not know. I thought it was all over for my girlfriend and I, she and I, we were a very young 20 yrs old. Luckily, she saw my model 29 smith next to the seat and pointed that pretty blued beast right at him and he ran off like a little girl, pansie or whatever.
In each of these incidences, I never once considered a weapon to be the cause of any trauma or death or threat, but merely either a sick mind, a person full of hate and disregard for human life. The rock sitting on the ground is just a rock. When someone picks up the rock and hurls it at another, it becomes a weapon.

          Hello Bill,
This is the best point of view I have read on this matter yet. I wish people such as yourself were an elected official. It is the everyday, real life person who turns to their peers for the answers out there to all of our day to day challenges in life. Take care Bill!

      • Mark January 26, 2013, 5:42 pm

James that is the most accurate comment i have heard, i feel the same way as do my friends and hard working co-workers. It is frustratting to listen to people that have thier own “personal agenda” on how things should work “only for them” Not much different than our represenatives! I could go on and on, but i also would like to know how are we supposed to “pull together”? About the person who wrote the article, my education barley exceeds a High School Education, and living among people who work hard at just living there lives, being simple outdoorsman, and gun owners would believe the president could even appeal to his way of thinking! We live in the structure our government has set in place, yes people need to let their voice be heard, because if we dont, special interest will prevail,

Go here, and let your representatives know how you feel. Your info is NOT retained, and they do all the contacting for you.

It’s Ruger’s website. Ruger has been an American business since 1949.

Well someone is stupid .After all Obama was re elected and only stupid people could vote for this demi-god

    • Chris January 25, 2013, 8:35 pm

James I tried that and the generic response was a reply as if I was begging for the ban. Sadly we will likely get a ban. I have no idea how Obama pulls it off but somehow he usually get what he wants, defying reason. No one expected Obamacare to get passed or even to get re-elected. Sadly GA is right…. pro-gun folks don’t seem to be paying attention or at least are not taking it seriously. The mainstream media seems to be running anti-gun campaign with CNN running nearly every story being anti-gun it seems. If people don’t wake the hell up we’ll wake up one day soon with a serious gun ban.

I for one have contacted my state “representatives”.. However as we all know…… They are just too damm busy to care about our little problems….. What they never seem to understand is that our “little” problems will soon be their BIG problem!

    • Jim J January 25, 2013, 10:12 pm

I do vote, I am a Navy Vet and I have written all my State and Federal Reps and received responses form several of them so I know it works. But if you are feeling lazy and can stop arguing for one minute, go to Rugers Home Web Page http://ruger.com/index.html and there is a link that will find all your State and Federal Reps for you all you have to do is plug in your name home address and email if you don’t know what to say they have taken car of that too. At last check there was 773,031 people that have used this an that is no where near what it will take to make the politicians fear for there jobs. There are enough gun owners to do this but we have to stand as one and put away petty differences as our Fore Fathers did to write and up hold our rights as citizens. Please take the time to do so – If You Outlaw Guns Only Outlaws Will Be Armed

      • Greg February 3, 2013, 2:57 am

I am sorry Jim, but your last statement…”If You Outlaw Guns Only Outlaws Will Be Armed” is completely wrong!!!
I am NOT an outlaw…any law that tries to circumvent the Constitution of the u.s. of A. is not a law at all and is completely void and without power from inception!
An unConstitutional law does NOT make us outlaws!!!!
But Jim, call confiscation and illegalization of my weapons what you will…if they try…they will die!!!!
In WAR…there is no crime for killing the enemy….

Why contact a Marxist Muslim about your concerns. He doesn’t give a damn. He has thrown his Grandmother, his “preacher”, our men in Benghazi, and millions of working taxpayers under the bus to achieve his goal of destroying American culture. He will gladly throw out anyone in his political party who doesn’t go along with the gun grab. We must organize from the ground up, not the other way around. Our “friends” in Washington need to be kept on a very short leash.

Currently this person is under free to roam in our society impaired by doctor prescribed mind altering drugs.

        Dear Larry,
As a person with bi-polar disorder I must object to your line of thinking. First of all, as one of those to whom doctors prescribe medication, my bi-polar disorder is under control … and has been for years. And secondly, need I point out that “mental defectives” were one of the early casualties of the Nazis? Do you wish to repeat that atrocity?

The “mind alerting” drugs you mention … are you referring to drugs such as Adderall? If so, do some research and you will learn that they affect me differently than they do you … they calm me.

Larry, -I- identified my mental health problem. Me. Alone. I sought the help I needed and, over a period of years, persisted in getting my medication levels adjusted to suit my needs. Make no mistake … this is something a patient has to push – hard – for. Is it your intention to punish me for this? How about we take you in for an evaluation and see if you still feel the same afterward?

But there is something else I’d like to point out. Even back in the day when exhaustion was causing me to hallucinate, back before I was able to identify my malady and LONG before I was able to begin treating it, I have NEVER been an aggressor. Not once. I have bent the pipe in a chain link fence to keep from hitting someone — but-I-did-not-hit-them. (And yes, even in retrospect, they sorely deserved it … but I was too mad at the time to hit them without killing them. So I didn’t hit them at all. But, if you’d like, I can tell you where to find the bent pipe.)

Statistics tell us that 1 in 4 Americans has a mental health problem. Think about your three closest friends. If they seem okay, it’s you.

        😉

In your job you see the people with mental health problems who are not getting the needed treatment from a qualified professional. With recent restrictions in Medicare and Medicaid, there are going to be a lot more of that sort (there were too many to begin with). But lighten up on the rest of us, eh? We park our cars between the lines. We leash our dogs. We signal our turns. And we show our CCL when required.

You call readers fidiot and wonder why more people won’t fight beside you. Now we know where friendly fire deaths come from. This mentality is what’s alienating gun owners to the public and media.
