Audio of Arizona Widow shooting home invader

Authors S.H. Blannelberry

When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

It’s a lesson that the non-gun owning public just doesn’t seem to understand, but one that a 47-year-old widow from Phoenix, Arizona, is keenly aware of following an incident back in May.

Cynthia was the victim of home invasion. By all accounts, she did the right thing. She called 911 to report the crime. However, police did not arrive in time to prevent the situation from escalating. The burglar, a man by the name of Michael Lewis, had entered her home and began to engage her.

She was left with no other choice but to defend herself with a firearm. She shot Lewis before he could get the best of her. Recently, the 911 audio was made public, detailing Cynthia’s heroism in the face of imminent danger.

From the Arizona Republic:

They’ve tried my front door, my front door, and now they’re trying to break in my back gate…,” Cynthia tells the 911 operator at one point. “I have a gun in my hands. I’m terrified.”

Later, “Somebody is on my back porch.” And then, “Please help me, please!” as the operator assures her that help is on the way.

“They’re coming out as fast as they can,” the operator says. “Have you heard any voices?”

Cynthia: “Hurry, hurry! They’re coming in right now, please, please, please!

As it turns out, the police weren’t coming quickly enough. Lewis broke into the bathroom and started attacking Cynthia. So she shot him.

Lewis: “Ow! (Expletive.) What was that? What was that? What was that? (Expletive) did you do?”

Her answer was classic. “Did you think you could beat me half to death?”

Lewis: “I’m sorry. I’m sorry…”

Cynthia: “You bet you’re sorry you nasty thing.”

After spending a month in the hospital recovering from his gunshot wounds, Lewis pleaded guilty to burglary and aggravated assault. He is due in court next month for sentencing.

Tomorrow’s news: This nasty thug is now suing this lady for emotional and physical distress, infliction of bodily harm, and loss of companionship during the time he was recuperating. Too bad she didn’t kill the $%^&er!

Arrogant bastard never expected the homeowner to defend herself. Rule #1 stupid, when you engage in this type of behavior, be a Man about it, and accept what may come your way!

That could of been my wife and little girl . That lady did right. Just one problem, he lived.

  • Robert September 8, 2014, 12:29 pm

This could have been my wife. That’s wife she shoots and has her CCP just for this. I would rather be judged by 12, than carried by 6 any day.

Madame, EXCELLENT work! You did exactly what you needed to do to stop this violent predator.
Hopefully, the Arizona criminal justice system will lock him away for a very long time.
Also, I’m sorry he only took one month to “recover”, scum like this needs a lifetime of pain and and to be hobbled by his own actions.

I always get a massive kick out of scumbags like the one in this case. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry” he cries, after his would be victim turns the tables on him. I’ll bet he’s sorry. Sorry he picked the wrong victim.

Born & raised in Arizona….SO PROUD!
A few other states like California, New York, Mass…….
she would be on the floor, dead or dying, and all the anti-gun
polititions would be tumping their chests with pride that the would-be attacker is safe…and probably long gone.
SO proud of this brave lady & Arizona’s pro self defense gun laws!

      Arizona’s great! I have a place there.
But I live in pussafied California.
On the other hand, if someone comes through my door, my lovely wife has 8 loads of 00 Buck for them. —Good Luck F@#$ers!

It never fails to amaze me the foolish questions these 911 operators rattle off instead of just trying to comfort the best they can, “where in the body did you shoot him”? WHO CARES!

    • Russ September 8, 2014, 8:40 pm

Ya, I was waiting for him to shut the hell up and not give her position away.

This was truly chilling. Glad this beautiful lady was prepared. It could have been my wife in that situation, which is why she is armed with 13 rounds of 9mm just for this scenario. Warning to every bad guy, this is Arizona, we are all armed, find another way to make a buck.

      That’s good.Protect you and yours.

      • Jack September 8, 2014, 2:09 pm

That a girl! Protect yourself and property. More burglars/home invaders need to face the same results.
“Do you dare enter my home with the intent to cause harm, I/we WILL defend ourselves at all cost.”

    • Steve September 8, 2014, 7:24 pm

      She messed up.
She didn’t keep firing until the threat was neutralized while she was in fear.
Too much mercy on her part.
Still, good for her to defend herself.

      • Russ September 8, 2014, 8:37 pm

Yes, I feel bad for her, it could have been worse.
        She needs “gun control”
2 to the body – 1 to the head.
Maybe ammo prices have her conserving.
