Jesse Hughes, the lead singer for Eagles of Death Metal, spoke candidly about his pro-gun views following the attacks in Paris that left 130 people dead, including 89 at the Bataclan theater where his band was performing on the evening of Nov. 13, 2015.

After initially saying that France’s strict policy on guns “kind of doesn’t have anything to do with it [the attacks],” Hughes then jumped into the gun debate.

“Did your French gun control stop a single person from dying at the Bataclan? If anyone can answer yes, I’d like to hear it, because I don’t think so,” Hughes told the French channel, iTélé in a recent interview. “I think the only thing that stopped it was some of the bravest men that I’ve ever seen in my life charging head-first into the face of death with their firearms.”

The Eagles of Death Metal are going to perform in Paris Tuesday. Hughes said it was their “sacred duty” to return to finish the concert, and the subsequent tour, noting, “I can’t let the bad guys win.”

ISIS claimed that they were the ones beyond the coordinated assault.

Hughes, a South Carolina native who has advocated for gun rights in the past, was asked if his perspective has changed on the issue.

“I think the only way that my mind has been changed is that maybe that until nobody has guns everybody has to have them, because I don’t want to see anything like this ever happen again, and I want everyone to have the best chance to live,” he said.

“I saw people die that maybe could have lived,” he continued. “I don’t know, but I wish I knew for sure that if they could have had a better chance, because there were some real angels, real wonderful people at that show.”

True. Guns are merely a chunk of metal until used as a “weapon”! A knife used to spread butter on toast is nothing more than
an instrument to spread butter until it is used to hurt someone and then it is no longer “just” a knife but a weapon.

What’s wrong with Jesse Hughes? Why does he blithely attach a condition on the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms? The Second Amendment doesn’t infer that you have that right based on what others might have.

To be honest, the Founding Fathers wrote, time after time, that the right to keep and bear arms was provided to ensure that the government would not become tyrannical. They had just rebelled against the “lawful” government of King George and they understood what governments naturally tend to do, namely control the people. The people should control the government, not the other way around.

So Jesse, get a clue about the Second Amendment. The privately owned firearm can be used for individual defense but it was primarily inscribed into the Bill of Rights to enable the people to maintain their independence from an authoritarian government.

By the way, I don’t care what the Europeans do in regards to private gun ownership. If they want to present themselves as being victims to the violent criminals or to be sullen subjects to a tyrant, that’s their choice.

well he was talking about Paris, not the U.S. – Paris doesn’t h ave a 2nd amendment. Paris never had a King George, that was England, and the founding fathers didn’t found France. Not everything someone says is about you and the U.S. he was in PARIS.! Hello !
And obviously in a country where there is a 100% ban and there were still terrorists with full auto guns, the ”until nobody has them” is a situation that will never occur.
It was a bold and unflinching statement in a country (Paris) that has given over their country to muslim terrorists, did you know 40% of France is Muslim now?
Jesse is a bad ass and i wish he was carrying at that show. And hopefully you never meet him, because he would most certainly verbally embarrass you with your lack of subject matter and lack of experience at watching dozens beings shot down.

I agree that everyone who wants to defend themselves should be allowed to have a gun..unless he is a criminal of course..Gun laws should be standardized across the country, but the bottom line is I want to get off the last shot if it comes down to me being the only one who can protect myself..

It’s true that as long as weapons exist everybody should have them. Notice the word “weapon”. Guns aren’t the problem. People are. We need to have better mental health guidelines.
