Ben Carson Must Apologize for This Statement, Says Everytown For Gun Safety

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Everytown for Gun Safety, the gun-control organization funded by former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, has started a petition demanding that GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson apologize for a comment he made about how he would respond in an active shooter situation.

Carson said the following, “Not only would I probably not cooperate with him [the shooter], I would not just stand there and let him shoot me. I would say, ‘Hey guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me but he can’t get us all.'”

According to Everytown, that statement is tantamount to victim blaming and Carson ought to apologize for saying it.

“We can’t let him get away with blaming gun violence victims, while opposing common-sense measures that would keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people in the first place,” said the gun-control organization.

Everytown also chided the former neurologist for a comment he made about laws that would restrict one’s Second Amendment rights.

“I never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away,” said Carson in an interview.

It’s not clear how many people have signed the demand-an-apology petition for Dr. Ben, but I’d venture to guess that few have. Putting the whole gun debate aside for a moment, I think there’s nothing more pathetic than apology policing. Seriously. If you’re offended by what someone says simply ignore them! Or, if you really feel that strongly about it, exercise your own free speech and explain to the world why they are wrong, offensive, slanderous, whatever the case may be. But to demand an apology from someone who expressed his honest perspective on an issue is asinine — even if what they said was stupid.

The apology policing becomes even more asinine when it is done to a candidate who is running for public office. If the public doesn’t like what the candidate has to say, they won’t vote for him, it’s that simple! Candidates live by their word and die by their word. If they say something stupid, they’ll ultimately pay for it. An apology does nothing. To circle back to Ben Carson, are the people offended by what he said really going to feel any better if he apologized for it? No. Because, it’s quite evident that he believes what he said in the first place — or he wouldn’t have said it multiple times.

When I was in the Army, one of the annual trainings were escape and evasion. The jest of it was that if you were ever captured or taken prisoner, you needed to try and escape and then evade recapture. What they told us was that the best, most successful chances to escape would be within the first two or three minutes of being captured initially before your captors became too comfortable with the situation themselves, and before they had time to figure you out. There are people that don’t like Dr. Carson, but what he said was exactly true, as well as part of my military training. Just tonight, Friday November 13, muslim terrorists attacked Paris, France and executed so far, 160 people as being reported. They say that in one place, a concert hall where an American band was playing, three of these terrorists took the whole place hostage, THREE of them, and one by one killed 100 people. Now imagine for one second that three terrorists take over a whole concert and one by one start executing people, at least 100 of them. Just imagine how many could have or would have been saved if enough people said to themselves, “This way, we will all be killed, but some of us, including me if we rush and over power those three terrorists…”. Sit there and watch people be executed, knowing that sooner or later you will be executed as well, BUT just might survive IF as a group you rush and over power your captors, keeping in mind that our military teaches that your best chances of survival are IF you change from a defensive to offensive action within the first two or three minutes of being taken prisoner. Dr. Carson…was 100% correct, and those that disagree with him, look what happened in Paris tonight for those that did just the opposite of what he said, and our military teaches.

Dr. Carson for President. We need a smart, aware, candidate.

  • Jeremiah November 13, 2015, 2:46 pm

I seriously doubt Dr. Carson will be apologizing for anything the extreme left asks him to apologize for. While I am not an ardent fan of his, I believe he is a pretty good Conservative and I commend him for that.

    Gun Safety Law
    1. Gun Safety class for all 7th and 8th grade students. To know how to handle firearms, and identify those who are not safe to be around with guns.

    2. Federal Universal Background Check with Teeth to trump all local laws. A. Social and Mental problem children must be logged into law enforcement data bank by parents and teachers who are experienced with abnormal behavior. B. All gang members, domestic disturbance record holders, and felons must be listed on national data base. C. All State Police must man the data base for instant checks on people who want to buy firearms from anyone. D. Holders of Federal Firearms Licences must run all guns and buyers through the State Police data base.

    3. Private ownership of handguns, rifles, shotguns of all action types must be encouraged for the protection of homes and people by terrorists, and criminals. Now more than ever criminals and enemies need to fear an armed people. The same philosophy that caused Admiral Yamamoto to explain to the Emporor of Japan against invasion of America to be unwise, when behind every blade of grass would be an American with a gun. Criminals should always be confronted with the same trepadation on who they intend to confront to rob, kill or rape. Second Amendment far more important today than ever.

    4. Eliminate the idea of gun free thinking or zones. In this day of super criminals and terrorism via mass shootings universal concealed carry must be universal and tied to a drivers licence that allows a person to be always armed with exact similar laws for concealed carry in all States.

    5. Silencers should be legal for all guns in order to prevent hearing loss for handguns, rifles, and especially shotguns. Europe and New Zealand lead the way proving this is a valid and super safe idea.

Gary…How did Gary get into this debate. Obviously Gary is a “mindless” liberal…curious how he had enough brain stem intelligence to actually read this article and then figure out a way to write his pathetic comments..

  • billoffit November 13, 2015, 12:05 pm

when this chicken poopie and all his elitist buds get rid of their armed body guards and walks the streets of harlam(?) alone then i will consider additional gun laws.

  • Don Jones November 13, 2015, 11:01 am

watching the news right after that shooting this man ? was saying you need a plan with an active shooter – first – if you can get away get far away – second – if not hide – barricade yourself — and lastly if confronted with the shooter – fight or die —- Carson was right on —

  • Dave November 13, 2015, 10:53 am

Go to Hell,Everytown for gun safety, and Bloomberg,

  • Russ November 13, 2015, 10:10 am

I think anyone who is asinine enough to follow a michael bloomberg organization that ultimately wants to ban and confiscate legal gun owners firearms should jump off a very high cliff like a lemming. I will never voluntarily give up my guns, NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Michael Lindley November 13, 2015, 9:38 am

Dr. Carson is a neurosurgeon, not a neurologist. Significant difference.

“Everytown also chided the former neurologist for a comment he made about laws that would restrict one’s Second Amendment rights.”

  • david November 13, 2015, 9:32 am

Dr. Carson should never apologize for that comment. Even sheep would be safe if the entire flock would attack the wolf. Yes, a few may be hurt or killed. But while they don’t, the wolf just kills as many as he wants and NONE are safe. The same applies to humans under attack.

  • Ram6 November 13, 2015, 9:00 am

There in lies the problem. We are conditioned to line up like sheep and allow some mental defective with a firearm mow us down. Now if that’s not stupid I don’t know the definition of the word. Ben Carson is 100% right in his admonition. The one thing these morons who attack “soft Gun Free Zone” targets expect is resistance. They don’t carry automatic weapons when they go into these places and they are frankly no match for 30 high school students determined to resist by attacking him. Would I lead the charge, you bet, I would rather go down fighting than meekly submit.

As to Bloombergs “Everytown” movement, it’s nothing more than gun grabbing with millions of dollars behind it. He also expects us to act like sheep and submit. Like every leftist, fascistic, small man he only seeks to impose his beliefs on the rest of us. He is small in stature and very small in mind and I hope he continues to spend himself into oblivion because he hasn’t won any ballot measure yet.

  • Joe McHugh November 13, 2015, 7:02 am

Let me get this straight. Michael Bloomberg, surrounded by armed bodyguards, denounces our right to have a credible means of self defense? He is the poster boy for anti-gun liberals everywhere.

  • Buck November 13, 2015, 6:20 am

Every town has no idea what they are talking about. Carson doesn’t need to say he is sorry. Buck

  • trant5 November 13, 2015, 4:10 am

    Hahaha. Butthurt anti-gunners…

  • shrugger November 13, 2015, 3:25 am

I expect he’s too polite to say it. But his response should be “Pucker up and place ’em on my posterior”.

  • mike baugh November 7, 2015, 3:40 am

An open letter to Everytown for Gun Safety, the Brady Campaign, et al. regarding Dr. Ben Carson:

I am very sorry, but you are dangerous fools. Yes, gun control works – just ask Stalin, Castro, Hitler, and the megalomaniacs throughout history. Read Ben Carson’s life story – how he overcame every poor black girl and boy’s ghetto lifestyle disadvantage (including his own pathological, murderous anger) to become the most brilliant, gifted neurosurgeon in the world. There will never be another doctor like him. You are the very ones who grind down millions of children like him in NY City alone. Gun violence? Give me a break – and learn facts, not rhetoric. Read the writings of our founding fathers and what they had to say about firearms.
We should be like Sweden, whose government requires its citizens to be armed, trained, and ready for defense. For this reason it is said Hitler’s generals advised him not to invade Sweden. This government and its people are unified – we have a government that has made slaves of us all. Don’t believe that? Try running a small business for thirty years, and God help you if you get in debt. Then, you will believe.

Here are three facts you better awaken to. Banks drive and own the economy, ever since they created the Federal Reserve (has nothing to do with the federal government). 2. Politicians are their butt-boys. 3. Mr. Obama blames the American people for this fact and despises them for it, and if – as many analysts think he will – if he manages to stay in office past his term, he will turn on YOU.

As a southern boy I grew up with guns – my Dad’s WWII .45 service weapon, a Japanese 7.7 Japanese Arisaka he took as a souvenir. My neighbor and hero, Ed Groves (Greenwood, SC), was an FBI agent who showed me how to disarm someone with a weapon pointed at you. I was nine, and still remember what could save my life. I cried the first, and most every time since, after killing my first animal (a small bird). I was five, and found I could hit anything with a bow. Guess my bow should have been confiscated; but I learned a very important lesson that day – life, all life, is precious.

While drunk, my Dad, a Major in the Army, spilled out his soul in anguish and with tears as he recounted how his patrol was ordered to execute starving “Jap” soldiers living in caves as they surrendered, begging for their lives. A Cornell graduate, fierce hockey and lacrosse Letterman, and utterly drop-dead good looking, he was never the same. Combat fatigue it was called then. He died in my arms from decades of alcohol abuse, desperately trying to tell me something, but was unable to speak.

Mr. Groves was an imposing man who commanded the respect of even the country club group in town. He also taught me the real game of tennis. He was the kindest, gentlest man I’ve ever known. I never saw him angry. His passion was growing roses – and they were fabulous. He and his wife both died in agony when a carload of drunks smashed his new Karmann Ghia he had always wanted into six lanes of US 25 when they were coming home from his retirement party. One of them lay there awake while battery acid dripped into the face.

You understand nothing of the roots of violence and evil, because you have already abandoned God, ridiculed the Bible, and now have begun to make the Christian your scapegoat, as Hitler did in Germany with the Jewish; hence, here lies your true reason for reviling Dr. Carson. His solution to a mass shooting is the only way these copycat cowards will ever be stopped – there will never be those with concealed carry present at every spree killing… Your bleating, pitiful complaints merely inspire them.

The Bible and the US constitution are inseparably bound, I hate to remind you. See what the seeds of banning school prayer and legalizing abortion have sown? Abortion is an example of the most violent act possible – body dismemberment on a living person, perpetrated on the most helpless of all victims. (And I live with that shame and guilt every day of my life, for I would have three, not two dear children.) If you remove parts of the Bible, to the true believer you have voided the faith – it cannot be rewritten and have any meaning whatsoever. Either it is eternal truth, or it is not.

Likewise the US Constitution…”I do solemnly swear, that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic [emphasis added]: that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same, that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion: So help me God.” If the Constitution goes, so does the true America you deceitfully purport to support.

Please tell me you have raised 13 kids ( I know, 2) with the same values you’ve just so eloquently written. America neeeds more of us. Sadly, I too have only two with the third being wrongly terminated.

    • Jack Kernochan November 11, 2016, 11:40 pm

Mr. Baugh, Thank You, for one of the Best letters that I have read about these rich fools who are killing this wonderful country of ours. Dr. Carson is absolutely correct. I hope that Pres. Trump finds a place for him in his cabinet…Perhaps getting after the Polluters of our country, our food supply, and our children’s health. God Bless Jack Kernochan

  • DRAINO November 6, 2015, 4:05 pm

Morons who want people to apologize all the time offend me…..they should apologize…..LOL!!!! I agree whole heartedly….if you don’t like what they have to say, change the channel……or don’t vote for them, whichever applies. These pansies who are so easily offended need to grow up……and have their “no-score keeping” little league trophies taken away from them.

    • Gary O'Dell November 7, 2015, 9:03 pm

It’s not that their offended, it’s that Carson says he stands for one thing buts says another. And if you would quit drinking Draino Maybe you could grasp that.

      • Dean November 13, 2015, 8:59 am

Gary, you are tripping. Stay focused or stay away..

      • James E Bailey November 13, 2015, 10:28 am

Maybe you should consider drinking Draino instead of that Kool-Aid, Gary.

    • Eric Belko November 9, 2015, 5:37 am

Is here a way that mentally defective Bloomberg could just go away. He is an embarrassment to himself, and to the government he is supposed to represent. Hey Michael, go study your Constitution for awhile. You know, that one you took an oath to protect and uphold. You idiot!

      • Chief November 13, 2015, 11:36 am

        Amen!!

    • Bigmag November 13, 2015, 6:37 am

These apologists are the same people that are so concerned about “cyber bullying” Are you kidding me? Just turn off the computer. I don`t get this new found bullying thing. I`ve blogged about this a few times and always wind up being called a bully. lol. Please, there has been bullying going on for hundreds of years. I got bullied all the way through school until the 9th grade when I finally got tired of it, stood up, clocked the guy, and got suspended for 3 days. Guess what? The bullying stopped, and for those few times it didn`t…well, it was a repeat lesson. My point being, that standing up for yourself doesn`t make anyone a bully, so stand up and let them know if they want to “bully” you…it`s going to cost them, and cost them big time! This country has turned into a country of pussies lead by the biggest pussy of them all, Obamonkey!

    • Greg Reed November 13, 2015, 2:34 pm

Bloomberg is striving for a nation of cowards. Self defense in the face of a criminal is a key means to taking the streets and this nation back from criminals and would be dictators.
