During a memorial service Friday to honor the late Jim Brady, vice president Joe Biden implied that the gun-control movement needed another high-profile victim to push its agenda, as Breitbart.com reported.
After discussing how Brady, a press secretary for Ronald Reagan, was wounded in a botched assassination attempt on the former president in March of 1981, Biden spoke about Brady’s resolve and commitment to enact tougher gun laws.
“It is my hope that we may all eventually, in a not too distant future, live up to the legacy of Jim and finally get done what he worked so hard to do,” said Biden.
“Seventy five percent of the American people agree with us,” Biden continued, perhaps alluding to polls that show support for universal background checks on firearm sales and transfers.
“What we need is another Jim Brady who has the skill to convince those who are afraid who walk the halls of Congress to step up and do what they know is right,” said Biden. “One will come along. It will happen. Pray God it’s sooner rather than later.”
Well, one can argue that Gabrielle Giffords is the new Jim Brady. Giffords, a former congresswoman, was injured in a shooting attack in Tucson, Arizona, in 2011. Following the incident, Giffords along with her husband Mark Kelly started Americans for Responsible Solutions, a pro-gun control organization. While the two have aggressively campaigned for tougher gun laws, Congress has yet to pass any new restrictions on the Second Amendment.
The reality is that whether it’s Jim Brady or Gabrielle Giffords, the problem with advocating for gun control is that one is fighting a losing battle. America is a gun-loving country. We value our right to keep and bear arms. And by and large we don’t want lawmakers infringing on that right — no activist is going to change this fact, not even the next Jim Brady.

I don’t recall Jim Brady being an anti-gunner. That roll fell to his wife, Sarah, who has made a career of her husbnad’s injury. The “Brady Bill” is her’s, not Jim’s.

Biden should serve well as the new Brady, after all Biden is brain-damaged. By the way; Brady’s wife was the one that drove the Brady bill and other issues, not Jim. Jim Brady was not able to because of the injuries caused by the gunshot wound.

I would be in favor of impeaching President Obama for his illegal conduct if it weren’t for the fact that Biden would take his place. What an awful thought.
