To be completely honest, I’m not sure if these really are the top six dumbest statements Michael Bloomberg has made because I was able to compile this list in less than 15 minutes.

There is a very good chance the former New York City mayor has said some dumber things that I failed to dig up during my cursory Internet investigation. Put another way, this is probably just the tip of the Bloomberg.

With that said, the following statements are pretty revealing. Just think, this guy has billions and billions of dollars and funds the most aggressive pro-gun control organization in the country, Everytown for Gun Safety. Perhaps it goes to show that intelligence has nothing to do with being rich.

1. “In Colorado, we got a law passed. The NRA went after two or three state senators in a part of Colorado where I don’t think there’s roads. It’s as rural as you can get.”

–Rolling Stone, July 2014.

Bloomberg was referring to Colorado Springs and Pueblo, the state’s second and seventh largest cities respectively. Pretty sure they have streets in both.

2. “If you want to have a gun in your house, I think you’re pretty stupid — particularly if you have kids — but I guess you have a right to do that.”

–Rolling Stone, July 2014.

Apparently, one should give up their right to self-defense when they raise children.

3. “No, but pistols are different. You have to pull the trigger each time. An assault weapon you basically hold, it goes BrrrrrBrrrrBrrrrrrp” —

–Conversation with Cynthia McFadden, Nightline, December 2012.

Bloomberg attempted to teach McFadden the functional difference between a pistol and a so-called “assault weapon.” She corrected him, see video below:

4. “The last time I saw a deer wearing a bulletproof vest was a long time ago. The only reason you would buy an armor-piercing bullet is to kill a cop.”

–Conversation with Cynthia McFadden, Nightline, December 2012.

Bloomberg unaware that “armor-piercing” is a completely arbitrary term.

5. “You know, to arm everybody and have the Wild West all the time is one of the more nonsensical things you can say. I don’t know what [Gohmert’s] motives are, I don’t know him and I’m not here to impugn him or anybody else. It just does not make any sense. The bottom line is if we had fewer guns, we would have a lot fewer murders.”

–Interview with Bob Schieffer, CBS’s “Face the Nation,” July 2012

Bloomberg responding to Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert who suggested that a law-abiding citizen carrying a concealed firearm may have been able to stop or confront the gunman who fatally shot 12 people and wounded 70 in an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater on July 20, 2012.

All 50 states now have some form of concealed carry, approximately 42 have rather permissive ‘shall-issue’ gun laws. Over the past two decades, as concealed carry rights have expanded across the U.S. gun crime and the gun-related homicide rate have both declined.

6. “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”

–Interview with the New York Times, April 2014

Yes, because God loves those who seek to disarm the good leaving them helpless against evil.

Don’t understand how he can be one of the richest men in the world and the poorest excuse of a human being at the same time ?

I don’t believe in god or an afterlife and even I am offended by his arrogance.

Completely denies anyone had defend themselves while having a firearm pointed at them.

What about the off duty cop at gas station with gun to head? Back pocket saved his life. Unless one wants to claim they had a gun for fun and giggles to scare for the wallet. And out duty to give up all earned possessions if another’s wants it for free. Gun = free stuff!!!

Many have defended their own lives and loved ones against armed intruders. This is fact. No way around it.

And it is not about hunting. Stop it with that. Seriously, stop. You reveal amazing levels of ignorance that disrespects this countries history. Same goes for the 20+x more likely to die from own gun in home.

You are rich. Move to England or Australia. There is no guns allowed and zero crime. No rape or assault. There is a soda size battle to be own there too. And the beers are too big. Go ahead and hurry. We don’t want you here!

I’m fairly certain that anyone who starts the sentence with “If there is a God…”, isn’t getting in.
