At SHOT this year we got a chance to preview the Stinger, a retractable bayonet spike purpose-built for AR-pattern rifles.

Recently, I’ve come across another modern bayonet that has actually been around for a few years. The Mk1 Savage from Bluntforce. I reached out to the company for details. Craig, over at Bluntforce, was kind enough to respond.
“Inspired by the earlier spike or ‘pigsticker’ bayonets of the 18th century, we have updated the cruciform design to bring it into the 21st century, using 5-axis CNC machining and modern materials such as high carbon and high chromium AISI D2 tool steel, an extremely tough and durable hard wearing steel, all blades undergo our proprietary hardening and tempering techniques utilizing the latest technologies to bring about the maximum performance” explained Craig.

“Blades are coated in either black DLC diamond-like carbon coating or a high polish chrome finish for added corrosion resistance,” he continued. “The industry standard mil-spec Picatinny rail mount allows it to be easily attached to a variety of firearms including rifles, shotguns and even pistols.”
Before you start to laugh, get this. The MK1 Savage is sold out! That’s right. “Due to the extremely high demand we are currently sold out but hope to have more units in stock within the next few months,” said Craig.

Not sure of a ban, but in the Great War the Germans issued a sawtooth bayonet so nasty that when those who carried it were caught by British soldiers theyd it being used on themselves.
Some things soldiers just won’t stand for.

The problem with this device is some places with an assault weapons ban in place, part of the definition of an assault weapon reads; any firearm that can accept a bayonet. So by offering this device they may have banned any firearm that has rails in the areas that have the aforementioned law.

Tacti-cool AF. However, a pistol handle is a terrible grip for thrusting a blade that is mounted perpendicular. You would be better off with a properly-held butter knife.
