James Holmes’ fate no longer hangs in the balance, as a jury decided Thursday afternoon what would become of the man who carried out a mass shooting attack an a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado in 2012.
After deliberating for a day and a half, the jury found that Holmes was guilty of first-degree murder in at least of one of the 165 counts against him.
Holmes perpetrated the attack on July 20, 2012, killing 12 people and injuring 70 others.
Now Holmes will entering the sentencing phase of the process, where he faces life in prison or the death penalty.
