The St. George Arms .50 BMG Bullpup in the Flesh — NRA 2016

The Leader 50 A1 is only 18.5 pounds.

The Leader 50 A1 is only 18.5 pounds, unloaded.

As we reported last week, the Leader 50 A1 semi-auto bullpup sniper rifle chambered .50 BMG was going to be featured at NRA 2016.  Well, I went by the St. George Arms booth to see this bad boy in the flesh, and it’s every bit as cool as I had hoped.

After picking it up, I immediately saw its appeal.  It’s relatively light, only 18.5 pounds and, with a 24-inch barrel and overall length of 40 inches, highly portable. When I cradled it in my arms for a brief moment, I became amped up.  I was ready to kick the tires and light the fires!

Of course, the question is, what’s it like to shoot this thing?  Being so light, does it kick like a mule deer on steroids?

This has to be one heck of a muzzle break!

Hopefully, we can find out the answer to that question in the very near future and bring you a full-length feature review of the Leader 50 A1.  But for now, here are the specs, along with some more cool pics and a short video of Mr. St. George firing his wonderful creation.

I wish it had a considerably lower price point. But then again, I think that about almost every gun I see at the show.

A look at the sights. Not bad. Of course, you're probably going to want to mount a nice optic on this beast.

WOW! That is light and compact.
I mentioned the GM6 Lynx, available now in Canada ( http://www.tacticalimports.ca/gm6-lynx-p-3.html ) in the other article last week.
But the Lynx is about 25.3lb and about 44.3″ overall.
And the Lynx is bloody expensive! $16,000 Canadian. Needless to say, I dont own one…
Are there plans to export the Leader to Canada?

18 Pounds NOT including ammo…. So You have to run & gun or change positions, well who is going to tote the ammo , You need a freaking cadi to carry your club and your ammo

Cool, As for the sticker shock, what do you expect when it obviously is created to compete directly with the Barret 50?
Maybe your in-depth article should include the comparison between the two???

But if it is supposed to be a sniper rifle what happens when you undo that muzzle brake and attach a suppressor?
