Los Angeles police discovered a man who had formerly claimed to be a CIA agent decomposing in his car.

Subsequent investigations into Jeffrey Alan Lash, 60, yielded some startling discoveries. In his Palisades Highlands condo, police found a cache of 1,200 firearms, 6.5 tons of ammunition, and $230,000 in cash.

“The place is still loaded with tools, scopes, books, all kinds of craziness,” said Lash’s fiancé’s attorney Harland Braun. “If you saw the place, you would know it was the home of an insane person.”

But Lash’s collection isn’t the only highly unusual aspect of his life and death. Evidently, Lash knew his death was impending, a byproduct of chemical weapons exposure during an overseas mission. He had instructed his fiancé to leave his corpse inside his car, assuring her a secret agency would dispose of his body.

The fiancé obliged, but when she returned several weeks later she found his cadaver still inside the vehicle. That’s when she contacted the authorities.

“He told the neighbors he was a CIA agent,” said Braun. “He certainly convinced his fiancée, my client, that he was a CIA agent. But I don’t think so; I think he was nuts.”

Lash was known by locals as Bob Smith. He frequented local restaurants and many of the staff commented that he and his fiancé were peculiar, adding that Lash would become uneasy if anyone took pictures near him.

“They always came in two separate cars,” said Francesco Schiff with the Casa Nostra restaurant. “He always paid cash, always had raw filet mignon. They never ate with friends.”

Police worked through the weekend to sort and dispose of Lash’s collection. They even called out bomb squad vehicles and an explosives sniffing dog.

It’s still unclear if Lash actually had any connection with the CIA or any other government agency, but it certainly has yet to be ruled out.

I’ve heard the Soviets deposited many ammo dumps to facilitate guerrilla warfare. This guy didn’t necessarily work for the United States government.
