CMMG is a company most people know for AR-15 parts and rifles. Last year, they made real headway into the marketplace with the release of the Mutant rifle and SBR.  These rifles

These rifles have been extremely popular. Built around the AR-10 and utilizing AK magazines, they brought the best of both worlds to the market in a relatively lrobust package. New for 2016 CMMG has a new model that is even smaller and lighter designed to dominate close-quarters-combat environments.

Designated the MK47 AKS8, this rifle is offered in both a pistol and a NFA configuration. In its pistol configuration the gun is somewhat of a pipsqueak weighing in at 6.2 Lbs. and has an overall length of 25 inches. Other than its new slightly shorter length and lighter weight the gun stays true to the Mutant formula.

Where this model truly separates itself from the rest of the MK47 line is its new Krinkov style muzzle device. The muzzle device adds 2 inches to the barrel length making this gun just an inch shorter then the 10-inch model. However, a shorter length isn’t really the point of this model. Promised to have less flash, and more control, the AKS8 is designed to be more comfortable to shoot and effective in a combat situation.

From personal experience I can say that muzzle flash associated with the 10-inch barreled model is a step above comfortable. If you are like me and you value your eardrums as well as tactical advantage of flash suppression, this is the model for you.

It’s DGI. A DGI rifle in 7.62X39. Literally the worst of both worlds. And Keymod too, because that’s all the rage these days. Yeah, pass.
