Remington released a new custom competition 1911 this week chambered in .40 S&W.
The pistol is a collaboration with competitive shooter Travis Tomasie. It’s called the R1 Tomasie Custom.
“The 1911 R1 Tomasie Custom is an exact reproduction of my competition handgun. Working together with Remington engineers, we’ve developed a double stack 1911 that meets my demanding specifications, and is built with pride in Huntsville, Alabama,” said Tomasie Captain, Team Remington World and National Shooting Champion.
“Utilizing premium components, this pistol offers the consumer extraordinary accuracy, reliability, and shoot-ability,” continued Tomasie.

Why 40mm?
Major caliber +capacity Important to match shooters
Got my R1 Enhanced used, supposedly the previous owner did not like it. Must have been barely shot, as one magazine did not have a mark on it, second almost new too. Not sure what the previous owner didn’t like- it has been accurate and reliable. My barometer of accurate is my success at breaking upright clay birds at 25 yds- rarely does the R1 miss.
Hopefully, Remington will support their “competition” pistol with an accuracy guarantee?
