Dash Cam Footage of Fatal Police Shooting ‘Doesn’t Change Anything,’ says Attorney

Authors Current Events S.H. Blannelberry

Authorities in South Carolina released dash cam footage recorded right before the fatal police shooting of Walter Scott last Saturday in North Charleston.

Scott was stopped by officer Michael Slager for a broken taillight.

Officer Slager then approached the vehicle to talk to the 50-year-old motorist. Scott informs Slager that he does not have insurance but is in the process of buying the car.

Slager returns to the car and soon after Scott attempts to exit the vehicle. Slager orders him to return. Not long after, Scott takes off running and leaves the frame of the dash cam.

Justin Bamberg, one of the attorneys for the family, speculated that Scott may have ran away due to his delinquency with respect to child support. According to Charleston County documents obtained by CNN, Scott owes $18,104.43 in child support.

However, Bamberg argued that regardless of the reason why Scott fled, it still doesn’t justify the use of the deadly force.

“This dash cam footage does not change the fact that at the moment the officer shot and killed Mr. Scott — that shooting was completely unjustified. And that is the key point of both the criminal investigation and the civil lawsuit,” the lawyer said.

The investigation is still ongoing. Meanwhile, officer Slager has been charged with murder.

Some felony offenses are not or should not include the use of deadly force. In Texas deadly force can be used to stop a feeling felon but it initially falls on department policy and the officers judgment. ..

This video shows a routine traffic stop getting elavated by wierd behavior by the subject. The cell phone video shows in the very beginning while the filmer is running and filming, the officer on the ground with the subject over him. As the officer gets up the suject drops the taser and runs. The officer then shoots him. Why he latter moved the taser is anybodys guess. Perhaps the probes were still stuck in him and he was draging it anyway.

If i was in the same situation I would have shot the dude too, I just wouldnt have missed 7 times.

Very sad. Perhaps we should eliminate most laws so the popos arent driving around trolling for revenue.

Anyway, whether tou like it or not it is justified to shoot a violent fleeing felon, asualt with a taser qualifies.

Good Luck with that plea in court. Personally, I think people shouldn’t be speculating about this crap in these times of razor edge feelings and such. Let the courts figure it out….that’s what they are for. People speculating does nothing but make things worse. Yes, its a free country….have your opinion and discuss it with whoever you want in private circles, but in the public arena, it does no good to fan the flames. This includes the bias media. Once the courts rule and the facts are released, its fair game. But till then, it does more harm than good. People need to grow up in general.

You really would’ve “shot the dude too”? Well then you’re an idiot and a murderer. Unless the man fleeing had the capability to inflict deadly harm onto others (running away with a knife or gun) then there was no justifiable reason to shoot. You sir would be in jail like this former officer and rightly so. While the 1st amendment allows our free speech, it does not filter stupidity unfortunately. I hope the moderator takes your stupid comments off this site. It is not representative of an NRA law abiding concept.

Really,, He must be another lazy Cop just looking for reason to blow someone away… this time a very lame reason. What ever happenned to call in for back up, chase the guy, get the K9 on him. Ive overheard too many COPs talking together at shooting matches about how they wished they were not on vaction at the time the others got to murder someone and get away with it. It seems to easy to just pull out the gun and finish it. Anyway the stats show the cops gun down more white than black. I know how the system is slanted to cover for the officers lies, Been there seen it first hand.
