The Most Definitive Scientific Study on the Question of, ‘Do Guns Kill People?’

Are guns responsible for “gun crime” and “gun violence” and “gun deaths”?

2ndVote, a non-profit conservative watchdog, has embarked on a first-of-its-kind, rigorously scientific experiment to find out.

Behold, the GunCam:

It’s a joke, obviously, but it makes a serious point: guns don’t commit crimes—criminals do, usually with firearms they aren’t legally allowed to possess in the first place.

We reached out to 2ndVote Executive Director Lance Wray for more information about the GunCam and what 2ndVote hopes to accomplish with the display.

Q. What sparked the idea for the GunCam?

A. Anti-2nd Amendment activists claim that firearms are the cause of violence and deaths and as a result they should be outlawed. So we’re testing their claims. We’re allowing the public to monitor for themselves a firearm around the clock, 24/7, and in real time. We can then see for ourselves if our GunCam gun commits any violence. GunCam illustrates the truth which is: a gun doesn’t commit crimes, people do. In fact, criminals do.

Interestingly, anti-2nd Amendment activists conveniently ignore the fact that the majority of gun crimes are committed by criminals who ignore the very laws that seek to restrict gun ownership anyway.

Q. What do you hope to accomplish with the GunCam? What do you want to communicate?

A. 2ndVote GunCam is an ongoing demonstration reinforcing the fact that legal gun owners rank at the top of the safest demographics in the country. The violence propagandized by the left is, statistically speaking, almost always committed by criminals who do not follow the law anyway. It is only common sense that these same criminals would not abide by any gun laws. Clearly, gun laws will only take away guns from law-abiding citizens.

The real truth to the gun debate is a fundamental 2nd Amendment issue. Anti-gun activists seek to take away Americans’ 2nd Amendment right to defend themselves. It is also about giving more power to government and less to its citizens. The misinformation on guns spread by anti-2nd Amendment activists is politically motivated, not based on fact.

Q. How has the GunCam been received? Have you garnered the attention you’d hoped for?

A. Our 2nd Vote members and firearm enthusiasts are all saying the same thing, “This is great!” These people understand the point we’re making, and the fun we’re having doing it. We want them to continue to participate and help us share GunCam’s message. Of course, the mainstream media has no interest in talking about the issues raised by GunCam because it goes against the narrative pushed by the left.

Q. What do you see as the biggest threat facing the Second Amendment today?

A. Complacency. With every legislation and court decision that upholds the 2nd Amendment, we can’t assume the anti-gun left will give up the battle on this issue. We want to make GunCam a catalyst for stimulating conversation, something that is easily shared on social media and reminds people about the importance of protecting gun ownership, and even more important – our 2nd Amendment rights.

Of course this gun isn\’t going to kill. It has obviously been tipped off that it is being watched.

A weapon can not walk, talk, think and jump up in your hand and surely can’t discharge all by itself

In all the anger and hate spewing in Charlottesville in the past few days, there were 3 deaths.

They were due to a helicopter and an automobile. BAN THEM NOW!

What is the single biggest flaw in this study/research project?

It uses LOGIC AND INTELLIGENCE. Those anti-gun folks will unfortunately not learn from this, because they are also anti-logic and anti-intelligence.

This is similar to cars are killing people. Lets not blame the drivers. Lets remove all the cars so they cannot kill. Especially those sinister looking sports cars. I mean who REALLY needs a 550 Horse Power Z06 or a Shelby Mustang. People should only be able to buy civics and corolla\’s. Oh…and if you modify your exhaust you will need tax stamp from the EPA-ATF-AFU. Other wise you will be in control of an unregistered exhaust system which makes the car even more sinister. And if it has a removable top along with non stock chrome…it definitely falls into the sports car category and well we will have place it on the banned list too.Seriously though if we allow government to prohibit guns based on what they look like or by what accessories are on the gun, how long will it be before government uses the gun law as an example to impose other restrictions on our lives based on nothing more than the appearance of it…like automobiles. This is not just about gun rights. This is about all americans basic freedoms.
Lets get it correct, demented people and criminals kill and abuse other people. The gun (like the car) is nothing more than a tool. Lets start by holding responsible the criminals who commit these crimes and find a way to keep these people from obtaining guns again in the future. Same goes with a car. We suspend the license of a bad driver….we don\’t take away everyone else car.
