Ed Brown: Producing Beautiful Custom 1911s to Exacting Specifications—SHOT Show 2014

Ed Brown8Ed Brown Products

Ed Brown Products started life as a machine shop producing parts to consistently close tolerances. This experience greatly influenced the company’s manufacturing as it evolved into a custom 1911 manufacturer. Ed Brown Products is here at Shot Show 2014 showcasing a collection of beautiful guns. If you’re looking for a special 1911, you have to check out the unique pieces coming out of this shop. Because every part of the 1911s is produced in-house, you have a wide selection of components, finishes, and engraving from which to choose. There are four series of guns– the Classic series, Executive, Kobra, and Special Forces. Each has its own unique features and checkering patterns. There is also an in-house master engraver to provide whatever look you desire. Whether you’re looking for a full-size 1911 Commander in stainless steel with black Generation III coating or a Special Forces gun, Ed Brown can help you make it uniquely your own.

I had an Ed Brown Cobra Carry with functioning problems, I shipped it to them for repair. Ed Brown returned it insisting there was nothing wrong with their pistol. The Dealer from whom I purchased it ( a very large dealer in Austin, Texas) attempted to help me resolve the problem. They were treated so badly that the Dealer ceased business dealings with Ed Brown.

Customer service did not in any way seem to be concerned with my problem, blaming it on me rather than the pistol. I am not a novice pistol shooter (military veteran/retired law enforcement, pistol instructor, competition shooter), the same ammo, magazines, etc. caused no problems whatsoever for my Wilson Combat, Colt, or Les Baer. Customer Service was “non-negotiable”, insisting there was nothing wrong with their pistol.

I prefer to spend my money with a company that stands behind their products.

My Ed Brown Special forces is scary accurate, feels perfect in my hand and will continue to be my carry gun until I can’t shoot it anymore. I have and have had multiple 1911’s that have cost less, but an Ed Brown is definitely worth the money. Save and get one of the best – it may just save your life!

I own an Ed Brown and I just love it. I sold several other handguns to raise the cash, but it was well worth it. I won’t argue that they are pricey, but who wants to dance with an ugly woman when you can waltz with the belle of the ball?

One minor quip: “full-size 1911 Commander” is an oxymoron. The Commander is a reduced-size version.

Ed Brown makes beautiful pistols, but how many people who carry can afford the cost?
