Eric Holder for President in 2020?

When I first heard that former Attorney General Eric Holder may be running for president in 2020 I thought it was fake news, for sure. But upon reading his interview with Yahoo published a few weeks ago and realizing that it may, in fact, be true, I threw up a little in my mouth. It was that bile-colored, acidity puke that burns on the way up the esophagus and leaves you with that unmistakable vomit taste on your teeth and tongue.  No fun.

“Now is the time to be more visible,” said Holder, in that aforementioned interview. “Now is the time to be heard. … I thought, frankly, along with everybody else, that after the election, with Hillary Clinton as president, I could walk off the field. So when she didn’t win, I thought, ‘We’ll have to see how this plays out.’ But it became clear relatively soon — and certainly sooner than I expected — that I had to get back on the field and be in effective opposition.”

You can read that comment in any number of ways, but it was explicitly framed by Yahoo as “Eric Holder joins the anti-Trump resistance — and mulls a presidential campaign of his own,” which leads one to believe that it ain’t no joke. Yeah, I’ll go ahead and wait for you to finish vomiting, too.

My beef with Holder is he is basically the black male version of Hillary Clinton. Like crooked Hillary, he is tied to at least one major scandal that resulted in the death of an American. I’m of course referring to the ATF gunrunning operation known as Fast & Furious that sent approximately 2,000 firearms south of the border and into the hands of known Mexican drug cartels.

The premise of the probe was insane, a skeleton crew of ATF agents was supposed to track each individual gun as it left the possession of a straw purchaser and headed into the war-torn streets of places like Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez (Both cities made the 2017 Top 50 Most Violent Cities in the world list). But that whole “tracking” part of the operation never happened.

What did happen is that really bad guys got easy access to rifles and a U.S. Border Patrol Agent named Brian Terry was killed in 2010. At the crime scene, two Fast and Furious guns were recovered (For the record, when it comes to keeping tabs on arms in foreign countries, our government doesn’t have the best reputation. Cough, cough. We lost track of a $1,000,000,000 in weapons and equipment in Iraq.)

Folks can debate the extent of Holder’s involvement in Fast and Furious at the administrative level (when did he realize that it was an utter catastrophe and how long did he allow it to continue after he knew it had gone south?) but what they can’t debate is that he stonewalled a congressional investigation into the matter. Instead of complying with the subpoena put forth by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to turn over all documents relating to the operation, Holder ducked and dodged (Hmmm, sound familiar? Sound like someone’s approach to her deleted government emails on her private server?) until the House had no choice but to slap him with criminal contempt in 2012. That’s right. Holder, the nation’s top law dog, got the historic distinction of being the first A.G. held in criminal contempt by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Holder avoided prosecution. He was bailed out by Obama who invoked his “executive privileges,” aka get-out-of-jail-free card, to save his buddy from facing any real heat (Funny, not unlike how former FBI Director James Comey decided that EmailGate didn’t rise to the level of a chargeable offense). You would think that this embarrassment, which ultimately caused Holder to step down as A.G., would’ve been enough egg on his face to keep him from ever entering the political arena, but, again, like Hillary Clinton, there is no shame to his game.

The parallels to Hillary don’t stop there, though. In addition to their refusal to take responsibility for what were clearly criminal acts, they’re both rabidly anti-gun. They’re both functionaries of the deep state and, since we’re being honest, they both have the personality of a wet blanket.  I guess that last observation isn’t all that relevant but I figured I’d throw it in.

Holder’s long history of opposing the Second Amendment goes all the way back to his stint as a U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, where he, while addressing the Woman’s National Democratic Club, talked about wanting to “really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way,” much in the same way that people think about cancer sticks cigarettes.

“What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that’s not cool, that it’s not acceptable, it’s not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we’ve changed our attitudes about cigarettes,” Holder said back in 1995.

Two things are striking about that statement. The obvious, his antipathy for one’s right to keep and bear arms. And the less obvious, his deep state agenda. As Paul Helinski argued in an excellent opinion piece on the Holder comment when it was released back in 2012, Holder sees minorities (gays, women, blacks, etc.) not as people who need to be encouraged to embrace their fundamental rights and freedoms but as mere voting blocks that can be pandered to and ultimately manipulated into supporting the nanny-state.

Telling blacks and gays and women and young people that it’s not cool to carry a gun is tantamount to preparing them for victimhood. Yeah, “it’s not cool to carry a gun.” You know what really isn’t cool? Being unarmed and defenseless in the face of real danger, i.e. being gang raped by street thugs or gunned down by drug dealers. That’s not cool!

Like Hillary, Holder continues to perpetuate the lie that big brother will be there to save you in your time of need. Whatever it is you need — security, healthcare, food, housing, education, etc. — Uncle Sugar’s got your back. What they don’t tell you is that the price of Uncle Sugar’s generosity is the loss of your individual freedoms. Government dependency is modern day slavery.

Nevertheless, the Uncle Sugar Gravy Train Express bromide was enough to get Hillary the popular vote in the 2016 election. With demographics shifting to favor Democrats in the future, there’s little to suggest that that argument will be any less appealing three years down the road as it was last year. Couple that with the fact that the mainstream media has gone full tilt in its attempt to vanquish Trump and the path to a Holder presidency isn’t all that improbable.  Point being, don’t sleep on this guy…  Now, if you’ll excuse me,  I’m feeling queasy again.
