Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson apologized in a video message released on Thursday for the fatal police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown on Aug. 9, 2014.
“No one who has not experienced the loss of a child can understand what you’re feeling,” he said in the video, which appeared on CNN. “I am truly sorry for the loss of your son. I’m also sorry that it took so long to remove Michael from the street.”
Following the shooting, the Missouri town erupted into chaos over the belief that the shooting may have been racially motivated. Protesters took to the streets to voice their anger over the death of the teen, while opportunistic looters marred the demonstrations precipitating a militarized response from law enforcement.
“The right of the people to peacefully assemble is what the police are here to protect. If anyone who was peacefully exercising that right is upset and angry, I feel responsible and I’m sorry,” said Chief Thomas.
Thus far, Darren Wilson, the officer who shot Brown, has not been charged. There is an ongoing federal investigation into the shooting to determine if it was justified.

Police Chief Thomas Jackson should not apologize for the shooting of Smart Ass Criminal Brown. Obviously a thug who after robbing the store and punching the Officer in the face , refused to stop as Ordered by the one-eyed officer. The 6th and final lucky shot dropped the dangerous thug to the ground. The officer did his job of not only enforcing the Law, but protecting his life from further attack from Thug Brown. The hateful Racists took advantage to destroy private property, and had a party destroying the neighborHood for over 3 months. The Dictator Obozzo sent 40 FBI agents including his attack dog Eric Holer to the scene to dig up dirt on the Officer. No apologys to No one.
At the chance of sounding insensitive……CRY ME A FREAKIN RIVER!!! I’m sorry your loved on was too stupid to get out of the middle of the street when he was told to by a police officer. I’m sorry he was so stupid he tried to fight a cop for his gun….and then charge him. Boo FREAKIN HOOOO!!!! Another example of parental FAILURE! And you want to cry foul on a police officer that was defending his own life and had to shoot the moron. AND THEN….after the evidence is all brought out, you want to flat out deny it completely.
