Bought a xdm 4.5 over a year ago. And the Glock 41 6 months ago. Given one is 9mm other a .45. Both are quality pistols. Glock is a Lego pistol, with more ways to build and interchangeable parts than the original Fords. Springfields have very few options on customizing. Some may care others may not. In the end it comes down to personal preference. Me, I bought both. And enjoy sending rounds downrange with either.
Glock for many reasons. ..several can convert to 10mm/others and less expensive aftermarket parts..arguably less muzzle flip with the glock. Glock rules for combat. ..everything else for paper.
GLOCK 41. HANDS DOWN! SIMPLICITY AND DURABILITY ARE BLISS. AND THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THE XD’S I REALLY DO NOT LIKE. THEY ARE UGLY TO ME! I HAVE ALSO USED GLOCKS SINCE 1988, AND I SEE NO REASON TO CHANGE THAT. TO EACH HIS/HER OWN, THOUGH.
I own both. There are features on each that I like and things I don’t like. Grip size definitely goes to the XDM 5.25. Sights and ability to change (night sights) goes to the Glock. Trigger is neutral as both really need work (Ghost and Powder River Precision). The cost of add on and accessories leans towards the Glock.
I bought my Glock 41 last year and really like it. Mine has the adjustable sights and I added a fiber optic front sight. I’ve shot XDM models before and they are nice guns but price wise you get more for your money with a Glock. Mags are less expensive and aftermarket add-ons are easily available. The XDM sights are so hard to push and mags run almost twice what the Glock mags run. Lastly there is a rather sizable increase in price between these two pistols. I don’t imagine this will discourage hardcore Springfield fans but it never hurts to try. My current Sprinfields are a M1A and a Range Officer in .45
And yet…the SPRINGFIELD is the ONLY manufacturer to pass the NATO 500,000 firings without a failure…..
Which to choose. No question in my mind. I do not like the grip angle of the Glock, a little too extreme for me. The Springfield has several design features that provide additional safety.
Didn’t the NATO tests exclude Glocks because their bureaucratic standards required extra external safeties because the upper mucky-mucks mandated extra protection levels for their less than well trained, bottom level troops?
Anyway, for the majority of us, the most telling and compelling proof in the superiority of the Glock is in the years of actual, real world, daily use by the great majority of Law Enforcement officers (70-80%?) in the USA. Their agencies chose Glocks to protect the lives of their officers and the public.
When you consider the wide variances in officer training and standards, meeting the most stringent legal and safety requirements in the world (due to our lawsuit happy legal culture catering to bad guys shot by cops), functioning reliably under the wide variances in the environments Glocks are used and carried in, as well as well in the varied levels on maintenance performed by individual police officers on their duty weapons, there are no real pretenders who can challenge the real world performance of Glocks.
Disagree? If so, then why are more and more police agencies continuing to migrate to Glocks, instead of selecting any of the other choices they have in the Marketplace?
Don’t you think the LE discount might be a reason why so agencies have Glocks.
Comparing the Glock 41 to the Springfield XDM 45 is like trying to decide which daughter you love best.
I own the Springfield XDM 9 and XDM 45. They are as perfect as you can construct a pistol.
I own the Glock 34, and Glock 35. They are perfect in every way. I will soon buy a Glock 41 for the same reason.
Love them both. Quit torturing yourself.

I have the Glock 41. Love the gun. I usually carry a 9, but do carry this gun from time to time. It is surprisingly lightweight and comfortable. The barrel length greatly reduces recoil so it’s a fun gun to shoot, and accuracy at 100 yards is a breeze. The trigger is crisp and the reset is excellent although I did replace mine with Ghost trigger enhancement and I thought that was well worth doing for little money. If you’re looking for a .45, you just can’t go wrong with the Glock 41.
