Gov. Cuomo Calls Gun Rights Advocates ‘Delusional’

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors Brent McCluskey Current Events This Week

A shootout between possible gang members that took place just before Brooklyn’s West Indian Day Parade left one innocent bystander dead, and now Gov. Cuomo is pleading with the state and the nation to “come to its senses with gun violence.”

Cuomo spoke Monday about 43-year-old Carey Gabay, the lawyer who was fatally shot in the head during the shootout. Cuomo spoke kindly of the talented lawyer and expressed his sympathies, but ultimately admitted there’s “nothing I can do” about gun violence and put the onus for a solution on the nation as a whole.

“We passed the toughest gun control law in the nation, called the SAFE Act, and I am proud of it,” Cuomo said. “Anyone who doesn’t believe we need to do something about gun control is delusional.”

The circumstance surrounding the shooting are still being brought to light, but what is known is that it took place around 3:40 a.m. and that nearly 30 shots were fired.

Cuomo proposed there is a way to retain gun rights while also restricting them, but didn’t specifically say how that would happen.

“We can protect the Second Amendment and legitimate gun owners, but we also need to protect people. How many young innocent people need to die before this nation comes to its senses? And this is a terrible, terrible painful loss, and all unnecessary.”

The shootout was but one of many violent acts committed before the parade. There were also several other altercations and a fatal stabbing, but Cuomo claimed gun violence kills more than any other type of violence.

“There’s violence in the city of New York, right? There’s violence around the parade, but there’s violence all around this country. And violence is one thing – gun violence kills, more than violence with anything else. And we’ve learned the lesson. How many mentally ill people have to get a gun and kill young children? How many criminals have to get a gun and kill innocent people before this nation is going to say we have to do something?

Ultimately, Cuomo admitted there is only so much he can do as governor to secure the state, and said that unless something is done on a national level, guns will continue to trickle across the borders.

“I’m proud of what we did in the state. But unless you do something nationwide, we’re getting guns in this state from other state. And it is a terrible, terrible, painful loss.”

Cuomo doesn’t have a gun control problem he has a criminal control problem. He doesn’t do his job and blames it on the gun?

  • skipNclair September 14, 2015, 6:12 pm

I don’t pay much attention to those that don’t believe in God, and the Constitution as I find they are delusional , untrustworthy, and fools.

  • Paul Betz September 14, 2015, 5:56 pm

Must be Cuomo knows more than the FBI and BATF since their data indicates that guns from other states are a very minor influence on guns in NYC

  • Lloyd Barnhart September 14, 2015, 5:39 pm

Cuomo obviously thinks his SAFE Act has failed: He now whines that we need more Federal laws. Notice carefully, that he makes no concrete suggestions that would in any way curb gun violence. Anything he has done…or suggests the Feds should do will only impact innocent, law-abiding citizens in a negative way.

The dilusion is that Illegals are really are friends and do not join gangs or commit crimes. I will protect myself and not wait for the police to arrive.

Cuomo is absolutely right. We need to do something about the gun violence, and gun advocates are delusional. How about this for a plan? How about we use the myriad of State and Federal laws already in place to prosecute gun crimes? That would be a very good start. WE could use RICO laws to paralyze Gangs, as proven numerous times across the Nation. He’s also right that we are delusional, as we expect rational people to come to the same conclusions regarding gun laws. Why do they think that ANY new law would suddenly convert a criminal’s thinking to “I guess I better obey THIS law”? At what point do they realize that criminals are classified as criminals because they IGNORE THE LAWS they don’t want to follow. By failing to use those already very strict laws, they continue to embolden criminals by disarming the criminals next victim. Yes, we are delusional in expecting rational thought processes by politicians and gun control fanatics. We have to remember, this has nothing to do with crime, it has to do with disarming the populace for easier Gov’t control.

Hm… I wonder if maybe these criminals are carrying out these shootings where no one is carrying a firearm with which they can defend themselves and others. If these criminals don’t follow laws we should make more laws. This will solve all of the problems in the world. This makes perfect sense. Thank you Gov. Cuomo. Thank you for trying to get us all killed and turning us into defenseless victims. It’s funny to hear these politicians, who are guarded my armed men 24/7, tell US that we don’t need to worry about being attacked.

There is no convincing ignorant blind fools like Cuomo, no arguments that will convince them, no rational dialog that won’t be rejected without thoughtful consideration.
The only response that Cuomo and those like him they may understand is:
From my Cold Dead Hands – and there are more than One Hundred Million of us.

  • Larry September 14, 2015, 2:52 pm

I guess the Second Amendment is delusional to them. The real shame is that the entire state of New York is under the control of leftist/Socialist/Marxist fools.

  • John September 14, 2015, 1:50 pm

Is he afraid people will not know him? I thought only beauty pageants used and wore those banners? More evidence that liberalism is a mental disorder!

  • Jim CYS September 14, 2015, 1:02 pm

“nothing I can do, about gun violence.” The propaganda ministers at their finest. cuomo and deblasio are the ones who are really delusional. They believe if you say it enough…..it will actually come true. Pushing gun control is their mantra. PERIOD! Key word here: CONTROL….control of the masses. Don’t ever believe they are doing it for the good of mankind. THEY AIN’T! Some of the toughest gun control laws in effect in our Great Country in places like New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, New Orleans, Oakland, Memphis, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Milwaukee. Gee, those tough gun controls haven’t helped you guys much have they, with gun crimes by the restless natives, the highest in the aforementioned cities in the USA. Gun control simply does NOT work……but the liberal left leaning wing-nuts just don’t get it. The criminals will always manage to find a way…some way to kill, maim, destroy their fellow man. Perhaps we should have the politicians take a look at outlawing ice picks, hammers, knives, forks, maybe even cars. How about that. They’re just simply using firearms as their convenient whipping boy. They just don’t get it! But, I guess it buys votes, and that’s what it’s really all about……getting re-elected. Sooooo, how about no incumbents. PERIOD!

  • Anti-Police State September 14, 2015, 12:56 pm

I assume Cuomo will be dis-arming his body guards then?

I mean guns can just make people do unthinkable things and control the minds of people and we can ever trust his body guards with guns?

Since he doesn’t believe anyone Law abiding citizen can be trusted how could we trust him with armed Body guards?

  • Carl September 14, 2015, 12:10 pm

Yep, folks like Cuomo only know how to prostitute themselves for votes. As already mentioned above, they have the SAFE Act, but no one there is safe. As long as you just call it gun violence, you will never stop the violence. If the gangs didn’t have guns, they would use knives. Remember West Side Story? Get real folks.

  • Mark Smith September 14, 2015, 12:00 pm

Tell New York’s gun ban enthusiasts to first ban guns in Israel and let’s see how that works out.

  • Kalashnikov Dude September 14, 2015, 11:10 am

Delusional is willful ignorance of our Bill Of Rights and U.S. Constitution, instead disarming law abiding citizens, criminalizing them in fact. While at the same time giving real criminals and thugs free reign to attack police, citizens, and destroy everybody’s property in our neighborhoods. Make no mistake who is delusional here. If you have any questions, stay home. Freedom and the responsibilities which come with it are beyond your scope of understanding. School is out and it’s time for folks to live in the real world. Make a choice and stand up for it or get out of the way.

  • furdie September 14, 2015, 9:50 am

what is really delusional, i think, is that the stupids of the country keep electing turds like this. how many election promises have you benefited from?

  • John ODonnell September 14, 2015, 9:13 am

If this knee jerk politician THINKS for one moment that any law or restriction on legal gun ownership will impact the MUTTs responsible for this violence HE IS THE ONE THAT IS DILUSIONAL. After he and his legislature passed legislation lessening punishment for drug dealing in order to buy liberal votes he opened up the markets and the gunplay commenced. He and his political cronies are constantly eroding the police for votes. The West Indian Day (WEEK) parade(FIASCO) has been historically the most violent City sponsered affair and no controls or restrictions are implimented BUT lets restrict the hunters and legal gun owners in an effort to look like they are doing something. Dilusional?

  • lilbear68 September 14, 2015, 9:13 am

heres one for the truly delusional, in order for these laws to work criminals have to obey the laws

  • Mick Dodge September 14, 2015, 8:25 am

Cuomo is an asset to insane clown politics.
Doesn’t he realize when gang bangers can’t use guns they will step up to IED’s for cripes sakes?
You can’t stop criminals with strict gun control laws, but you can with a double tap with your Concealed Carry Firearm.

  • DRAINO September 10, 2015, 8:48 am

“I’m proud of what we did in the state”….???? He is proud of the fact that even though he passed his signature act, crime is still rampant in his city????? People are still being killed regardless of the law that was supposed to be the end-all-of-gun-crime bill…..??? And he is proud…????!!!!!! I don’t know what is sicker….Coumo, or the Morons that elected this communist idiot to office. Yet another reason to stay away from NY.

  • ak September 9, 2015, 1:43 pm

” we’re getting guns in this state from other state” <—– already ILLEGAL AND A FEDERAL CRIME.

  • Mark N. September 9, 2015, 3:11 am

That’s right, all of the (unidentified and probably not recovered) guns involved in the shootout must have come from out of state because of the SAFE Act. And he thinks WE are delusional?

    • DC September 17, 2015, 11:32 pm

How about make way stiffer penalties for criminals that get caught with guns instead of punishing the law abiding people that will save the sheep if they are armed rightfully
