Following the failed attempt on his life in 1981, president Ronald Reagan began carrying a handgun on his person, according to Brad Meltzer, author of “The President’s Shadow.”

“He carried it in his briefcase even when he went on Air Force One,” said Meltzer, author told FoxNY.

Meltzer claims that even Reagan’s vice president, George Bush, did not know he was exercising his Second Amendment rights on a daily basis.

“In case someone comes after me I want to be prepared,” said Reagan, according to reports.

Well, Reagan was known as “the great communicator” — and I can’t think of a more succinct way to argue for carrying a firearm for self-defense than that simple explanation.

“In case someone comes after me I want to be prepared.” I mean, it’s just common sense. It makes me wonder why so many gun grabbers have a hard time understanding our culture.
