Did Gun Girl Emily Miller Pull a ‘Brian Williams’ on her Home Invasion Story?

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Emily Miller is a vocal and respected advocate for the Second Amendment. She is also an investigative reporter for Fox 5 News in Washington, D.C.

In 2010, on New Year’s Day, Miller claims she was the victim of a home invasion. While dog-sitting for a friend, the story goes, Emily came back to the residence to find a “drug addict” robbing the place.

According to Miller, the robber fled. But she wanted to make sure he was gone so she went outside to confirm he had left the scene. Here is Miller’s account of what happened:

After the man left, I was still suspicious so I went inside, grabbed my Blackberry and clicked on the icon for the camera. I walked down the street, and as I turned the corner, I saw about 15 scruffy young men standing around two pickup trucks. We were at the end of a woody, dead-end road.

I nervously held up my Blackberry to take a quick photo of them and the license plates. Suddenly, the blood-shot-eyed guy darted out, blocking the shot. “What are you doing?” he asked. I looked around at all the men staring at me and was suddenly scared.

It’s a story that she’s told probably 1,000 times while touring the country to promote her book, “Emily Gets Her Gun: …But Obama Wants to Take Yours.” In fact, in an interview with me, she relayed similar details.

Now, pointing to the official police report, The Washington Post is calling into question the veracity of Miller’s story. Here an excerpt from the documents:

[Miller] stated that she left out to walk the dog at 1515hrs and when she returned at 1525hrs she observed [the suspect] exiting from behind the fence which leads to the side of the house. [Miller] asked [suspect] ‘What are you doing here’ and [suspect] stated ‘I am delivering firewood.

[Miller] stated that she went into the house and felt that something was not right, so she exited the house to take a photo of [suspect’s] vehicle. [Suspect] approached [Miller] and gave her a business card that stated [a tree service] and [suspect] left the scene. [Miller] stated that [suspect] was operating a silver pick up truck with landscaping on the side of it.

[Miller] stated that she was contacted by her credit card company at 1945hrs about some fraudulent charges on her credit card. [Miller] stated that she checked her purse and noticed that her Visa credit card and $50.00 in US Currency was missing. [Miller] stated that while she was out walking the dog she had left her purse on the counter in the kitchen of the offense location.

Was there an actual robbery? Was the man a suspected “drug addict” or simply a landscaper? Were there really 15 men “scruffy young men standing around two pickup trucks”?

The Washington Post believes that Miller embellished her story, adding details like the “drug addict” and the “15 young scruffy men” to make it appear more harrowing than it actually was. The WP went on to say that no charges were ever filed against the suspect and that police attempted to contact Miller three times on “Feb. 3, 2010, Feb. 4 and Feb. 9” to follow up on the incident but no calls were returned.

“The undersigned made several attempts to contact the complainant [Miller] which ended in negative results. The undersigned request that this report be suspended until additional means of contacting the complainant is provided,” reads the report.

Why didn’t Miller attempt to press charges or recovery the money that was taken?

I reached out to Miller and am awaiting a response. For what it is worth, having corresponded with her on multiple occasions, I’m inclined to believe her account of the incident as police reports are not always all-encompassing.  Plus, she doesn’t seem like one to tell tall tales.

Meanwhile, the Coalition to Gun Violence is launching a campaign to have Miller fired from Fox 5. In an email to GunsAmerica, Ladd Everitt from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence said “Her story has changed constantly, and it does not match up with the facts from the police report on the incident.”

“Miller’s goal is not to provide objective, accurate reporting. She’s an advocate, and she’s using her position to promote a radical view of the Second Amendment that is totally out of step with WTTG’s viewers,” Everitt continued. “If WTTG still cares anything about actual journalism, they will send her packing.”

William Friskhart, how did an Obama @$$ kissing ilbtard like yourself even find this site? Embellishing your personal story is nothing compared to burying actual news stories that are detrimental to your libtard idols. F****ing jack@$$!

After all is said about this woman’s behaviour, it seems likely that a simple situation, initially but somewhat innocently misrepresented, offered her an opportunity to embellish the tale with each retelling, a trend that escalated out of control, leading to a full-blown O’Reilly, minus the hyper-inflated egotism and vicious remarks. Yes she is a liar. Of the three, Bill is the nastiest and most mendacious of the lot, followed by this “lady”, with Brian bringing up the rear, so to speak. If we’re really going to rank liars, we must make considerable room for most GOPers in Congress and the entire stable of Fox hounds, and their ilk. What a can of worms…

The Second Ammendment is a right…. not a privelege; as is the First, Third, Fourth, Fifth and so on… These Rights are not negotiable and have outlasted decades of vermon who have attempted to deny or destroy them. What thinking American would want to give up one or any of his or her Rights?

Like I believe the ‘Huffington Post’ and ‘Al Jazeera News Network’ any more the others

I think if the police report differs from what she says that it’s possible the cop who took the report wrote down notes and later transcribed them to his report, perhaps doing some from memory and some from his notes. To me, it doesn’t mean he’s lying (although, of course, he could be) or that she was lying (although, of course, that also is a possibility). More than likely it’s just people being human beings. I’d lean more toward believing her since she has no history of embellishing stories and for me that lets me give her the benefit of doubt. But I definitely agree about the mainstream (liberal) media omitting many, many stories every day that show the benefits of things like concealed carry or the use of a firearm in defense of one’s self or family. Anyone who reads IJR on a consistent basis knows exactly what I mean. Guns are tools and if used as such (a tool for self defense and the defense of others) merit positive consideration and exposure. But the mainstream media calls anyone who owns and uses guns a “gun nut”. Personally, I feel safer (and so does my family) being armed at all times except when it’s illegal, like in a courthouse or school. The unfortunate thing about “Gun Free Zones” is that they are only “gun free” to the law-abiding citizen. To a killer, no matter his rhyme or reason, they are just target rich environments where the killer can be fairly confident he’s not going to have fire returned at him unless there happens to be a cop there at the time.

As a person who was almost victimized by a totally inaccurate police report regarding a traffic accident, I have little doubt that the police report in the Miller incident could have left out a lot of information, or simply reported whatever the officer “felt” at that time. Or the officer could have failed to take proper notes and then wrote it up from memory later.

I also work for a law office as an investigator/law clerk, and I have read hundreds of police reports in addition to writing and mapping dozens of DETAILED reports as part of my job. I am not the “average person” who has no idea what normally goes into a police report, nor do they know what a professionally done report would include. In general, I find at least 50% of police reports are either ludicrously inaccurate or full of big holes in the facts or maps of the accident scene.

I have to agree with this. I tryed to fight a traffic citation once, and the officers report submitted to the court was a total lie from beginning to end.

i wouldn’t put much credence in the police report. What’s easiest fill out becomes the record of the day. I believe her story and find no reason for her to jeapordize her career with a lie.

She not only pulled a Brian Williams, she also pulled an “O’Reilly Factor.” The is no difference as they are all three liars.

    • George Price March 9, 2015, 12:24 pm

maybe they lied and maybe they didn’t BUT that certainly does not diminish the fact that the LIBERAL MEDIA lies on an hourly basis and leaves parts of the ACTUAL NEWS omitted ON PURPOSE – “typical” liberal tactics … “don’t look at US ! look at THEM”

    They’re pinkos. Just ignore them.
