Want to make a buck or two? Try selling Hillary Clinton targets at a Trump rally.

Last week, a North Carolina woman did just that and made almost $4,000 in two hours.

Ariel, 26, sold targets that depicted the face of the Democratic presidential nominee on a bullseye style shooting target with the caption: “Chipping away your gun rights since 1993. Killary Rotten Clinton.”

The price of the targets was two for $5. In approximately two hours, Ariel sold 1,500 targets, netting $3,750. Not a bad day’s work.

Of course, selling the targets did not come without backlash, especially after the story went viral on social media.

On Twitter, Hillary supporters were angry with the young woman’s business venture.

“Despicable beyond words, not least because #Hillary has devoted her life to kids while Trump talks about dating them,” said one Twitter user. “Sad state of affairs.”

“WTF is wrong with people?” asked another Twitter user.

Ariel is not the first individual to sell targets depicting high-profile politicians. Andy Hallinan, the owner of Florida Gun Supply, has been selling targets of Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders for quite some time.

The obvious question is whether such targets are even legal to purchase. Apparently, they are. A product description for Hallinan’s targets states the following:

Is this target really legal?

Absolutely. The First Amendment protects the right to free expression, which includes the right to shoot, burn, or in any way destroy an image of anyone including the president as long you’re not posing a “credible threat.” The standard here is whether there is genuine intent to commit or incite violence, and also whether that violence is likely to actually occur. If there’s no “clear and present danger,” as Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. put it, there’s no basis for censorship. So unless the Seaside Heights boardwalk is, in fact, a surreptitious assassination training ground, the game is perfectly legal.

While it may be legal to purchase and shoot Hillary targets, the next question is it a good idea?

Nope. Not in my opinion. We live in a massive police and surveillance state. While it’s unlikely that plinking Hillary targets would land you in hot water, why risk it? Why bat the hornets’ nest? You may argue that it’s all in jest — until you go to board your next flight and you can’t because you’ve somehow been placed on the No-Fly list. Then the joke’s on you!

We can’t base our decision to speak out on whether a criminal government will punish us for it. The only thing the Broomrider was ever right about is “Dissent is patriotic”. It is the patriotic duty of every American who’s unhappy about our leaders to speak out. It’s not like George W, Bush wasn’t being burnt and hanged in effigy when Hillary Clinton said “Dissent is patriotic”. She meant but didn’t say “when we’re stirring up senseless hatred of someone we don’t like”, and we know this because of her thin-skinned response to every bit of criticism she’s ever had to deal with. So, if someone puts me on a ‘no-fly’ list because Hillary Clinton’s smiling out of the eight-ring on my pistol targets, eventually they’ll be putting my grandson through an Ivy League college when the court case is done. I’m tired of skulking because Obama doesn’t get “freedom of expression”.

You sir, are a walking vagina. “Don’t upset the liberals!”

  • DaveGinOly November 14, 2016, 8:26 pm

Progressive loonies rioting (breaking, burning, stealing, beating innocent people) over the results of the election and calling for Trump’s assassination are hardly in a position to decry these targets, the use of which will harm nobody.

Some of the comments I read makes me understand that all who have weapons do not necessarily need one.Shooting at targets of people elected to govern you is the reason we are dodging the flak now. I do understan you do not want comments from anyone who thinks differently. You have an agenda,I do not. I do want to be able to enjoy the second amendment but not the trashy way this section views the real world.Thinking like this is what got us in this position. I would thank you to not send this crap to me. If you have any class at all you will stop sending anything to my email . i say you value the dollar more than class.Ken Sawyer

    • Who? November 12, 2016, 5:16 pm

Ken: Have a snickers and chill man. We understand not everyone thinks this funny but you’re too PC. Remember “Even a blind hog gets an acorn once in awhile” just not this time. Ask yourself: Did I have a fit over all the other public figures on bullseye targets? Well? ROFLOL

    • billy blyth November 13, 2016, 9:24 pm

Why don’t you go sober up Ken. I don’t shoot at human type targets because I find it creepy. Almost as creepy as ol Ken here. I would buy a couple of them to frame on the wall though. Because the commies like Mrs. Clinton and ol Ken here don’t like it. That makes me 87% more likely to buy something like that.

    • DaveGinOly November 14, 2016, 8:24 pm

You DO have an agenda – you want to silence people who don’t think like you. I’m not making an argument for or against “political personage” targets, I’m just pointing out that you’re not being honest with yourself.

  • Ken Sawyer November 12, 2016, 9:54 am

Yes we all bitch about supressionj of ideas yet you screw up mine.No wonder that we who are in the firearms business are considered criminals by 1/2 of the country.

    • Ken Sawyer November 12, 2016, 10:00 am

You know what you can do about that” awaiting moderation”. All gun dealers and gun buyers are not as stupid as your one way comment section shows. There are plenty of gun owners who have the sense to keep their mouths shut and go with the lucky things we have got. There is always two sides to any legitimate story. If you are just trolling for the lunatics that cause the trouble then by all means take all you can syphon out of a good thing.

  • Ken Sawyer November 12, 2016, 9:51 am

Stupid decision, nothing else needs to be said.We already have enough problems.

  • Archangel November 11, 2016, 10:18 pm

My eyesight ain’t what it used to be, make mine a Rosie O’Donnell target!

  • Mickey November 11, 2016, 10:17 pm

The entrepreneur shouldn’t have used the freakish & unusual photo of Hitlary with a smile, but her usual countenance of wide-eyed, screaming harpie. Realism, above all!

As long as they were sold before the election, it was OK. If Hitlary had won, you might have gotten in hot water over it [shooting at BHO targets during the past 8 years while he was a sitting Pres. was just a bad idea for your personal well-being.] If there were any raving liberals who owned guns, I’m sure they’d be buying targets of Trump as we speak, but since they’re common as unicorns, that market is due to be overlooked… 😉

  • MaxEffectUSA November 11, 2016, 7:40 pm

Speaking of the “No Fly” list, maybe Trump can create a way to get off of it if you’re mistakenly put on it.

    • Ken Sawyer November 12, 2016, 10:01 am

Why should anyone on a federal no fly list own a gun?

      • MagnumOpUS November 12, 2016, 8:39 pm

Counselor Sawyer, do you even know how one gets on the ‘no fly’ list??

        …I didn’t think so.

      • GTL November 17, 2016, 1:40 pm

Why should any legal gun owner be put on a no fly list. I’ll tell you, it’s probably because of a few ignorant individuals refuse to educate themselves.

      • loupgarous November 24, 2016, 11:14 pm

Because the “no fly” list isn’t compiled by a court of law, and you may not be deprived of your right to keep and bear arms unless you’re a convicted felon, a documented illicit drug user or an adjudicated mental defective.

  • Edward November 11, 2016, 2:05 pm

Thats some popular paper right there.

  • Larry November 11, 2016, 1:50 pm

Hillary is gone. The beige bozo is on his way out. How about a series of current anti-Americans such as Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi & their ilk? Do them in a full size silhouette & I’d buy them for a reasonable premium over the standard silhouette.

  • Doc November 11, 2016, 12:53 pm

Who cares what the lame brain liberals care. Nobody asked for their lip or opinion. They are the minority now and have been since the pubs took over the house and senate. Now that we have the presidency also it is time to finish them off. Their platform and what they believe in that is. They can yell and scream and riot all they want but they are not the majority. Don’t ignore them. Just tell them to shut up and sit down. Their time is past. Their ideology is past. Again time has come to finish it off. Our leaders in congress needs to be told this. No compromise in the spirit of unity. You can not now or ever negotiate with the enemy. You subdue them and make them do what they are told. In this case sit down and shut the f up. I can guarantee you if the shoe was on the other foot you and I would be running for our lives already. Remember that. Us or them. I’d much rather it be them.

  • Kent San November 11, 2016, 12:19 pm

Maybe after I use up my Al Sharpton, Sean Penn and Elizabeth Warren targets.

  • Mike collett November 11, 2016, 11:35 am

Just because its legal doesnt mean its not stupid.your asking for big trouble from federal prosecutors.

    • Larry November 11, 2016, 1:51 pm

Only if they try to violate your Constitutional rights.

  • Mike Watkins November 11, 2016, 11:17 am

Some libs right now saying Trump should be assassinated, even that all his supporters should be killed. One Hollywood jerk (creator of West Wing, I think) said the election was won by the KKK! Yep not only called 50+ million of his fellow Americans the Klan, but the Washington Post validated it by printing a sympathetic article about it.

So question is, do we want to stoop to their level? That’s an individual decision. As for me, I’ll probably just vent in “safe places” like this. Haha.

    • Doc November 11, 2016, 12:57 pm

I will continue to practice and make sure my marksmanship skills are top notch. I will continue to prepare. This fight is long from over. I don’t know how a lib would fight somebody with a gun. They going to walk up and bitch slap em or poke a flower down the barrel of their gun? Liberals are all liars. Not a one of them has the common sense God gave a piss ant

  • Va Mtn Man November 11, 2016, 9:19 am

The woman has been a rabid anti 2A screeching harpie for decades. She deserves fame in this form. It is a political/cultural STATEMENT not a demonstration of INTENT or DESIRE. In her perfect world, your front door would shatter @ 3:A.M. followed black clad ATF thugs cuffing you and your family at gunpoint pending the confiscation of your firearms; believe it. I’ll take a gross please.

  • Dave November 11, 2016, 9:13 am

I bat the hornets nest to get rid of them while there aren’t that many. They’re hornets: the nest will only expand, and you WILL be stung. It’s best to bat it when it’s small than wait until it’s so big the swarm is an entire black cloud of them, and you’re attacked just because you went near it.

  • Chris November 11, 2016, 9:07 am

    Where can I buy some?

  • Jack Geyer November 11, 2016, 9:00 am

No fly list? How about getting your next box of .308 at Walmart and being refused. Hitlary wants all no fly list people banned from buying guns and ammo!

    • Leighton Cavendish November 11, 2016, 9:50 am

Somebody needs to post that list…so people can see how incomplete AND inaccurate it is.
Venture to say there is no actual list…and no way to print it…
People should know if they are on a list…why they are there…and how to get removed (or at least try)

      • Doc November 11, 2016, 12:59 pm

This is why I reload. No list of I can or can’t buy. It’s not real Ammo till it’s put together

      • perlcat November 11, 2016, 3:39 pm

That list is nearly completely useless. They cannot put the actual criminals on it, as the bedwetters will cry about racial profiling (thought it was a religion, not a race, but these tools are idiots; this is what they call it). So they resort to putting random non-threats like your grandma on it, so that everyone thinks this list has everybody and everything on it.

  • Mr. Sparkles November 11, 2016, 8:58 am

Legal or not, bad taste and exactly the kind of behavior that justifies the fears of the uninformed. Take the high road and be proud of it.

    • kane November 11, 2016, 11:53 am

Yep, this will probably be used by Maher or Colbert (sp?) to inflame the left.

  • Mark November 11, 2016, 8:36 am

Indeed, why fan the flames, and contribute to the default labeling of all gun owners as right-wing wackos?
Notwithstanding all that, it’s just in very poor taste. Exercising her rights to free speech, and to make a quick buck? OK, but everyone would feel 100% likewise if she (or someone else) was selling targets with Trump’s face on them, right?

    • David Christensen November 13, 2016, 3:05 am

I agree one hundred percent. In light of the current tensions in the country, this was simply pouring gasoline on the fire.
This is not needed. We get enough bad press without it. The First Amendment comes with responsibilities.

  • Jay November 11, 2016, 7:15 am

“Why bat the hornets’ nest? You may argue that it’s all in jest — until you go to board your next flight and you can’t because you’ve somehow been placed on the No-Fly list.”

And this is exactly why these No-Fly lists should be illegal. They throw “due process” right out the window!

“The Due Process Clause acts as a safeguard from arbitrary denial of life, liberty, or property by the Government outside the sanction of law.” Suspicion (what someone feels or thinks) is not adequate grounds to deny citizen life, liberty, or property!

  • Dustin Eward November 11, 2016, 2:43 am

“While it’s unlikely that plinking Hillary targets would land you in hot water, why risk it?”

You’ve let fear become wisdom, which means you’ve given up the fight.

  • DRAINO November 10, 2016, 8:31 am

If you don’t exercise your rights, you will loose them. That’s why open carry is such an issue now. If it happened more often, people would be acclimatized, and it wouldn’t be a big deal. By NOT exercising our rights, people are forgetting what they are, and why we have them, and we are panzy-fying our country. STOP the PANZY-FYING OUR COUNTRY!!!!

  • SuperG November 8, 2016, 11:11 am

I admire her enterprising spirit, but it just fuels the argument that gun owners are psychos. No actual living person should have their face on a shooting target. It endorses murder.

    • DB November 11, 2016, 10:43 am

They are total hypocrites. They plastered GW Bush’s face everywhere and anywhere-drums, targets, urinals etc. Free speech is only allowed if it is liberal speech. This is exactly what we are fighting.

    • perlcat November 11, 2016, 3:42 pm

“Enterprising spirit” — that’s what they call criminal behavior these days. Learn something new every day1

  • American November 8, 2016, 11:08 am

I remember those Osama Bin Laden targets and other terrorist targets Why not shoot at those targets Same class of terrorist. What about those thug targets showing a bad guy with a gun pointing at you, same thing .I say “Way to go” Freedom of press free speech and not only “Right to keep and bear arms” Stop the bad guys.Practice Practice Practice !! Need a good target to shoot at. I would have bought some .!

  • Will Drider November 7, 2016, 10:16 pm

Hell, if you pulled some old Osama Bin Laden targets from the Range shed; the dems and libs would get the PC police on your ass as a muslim hater! If your a dem/lib your free speech is protected; if your a rep: your persecuted. Seem the same way with TRUTH today.

  • Russ November 7, 2016, 8:47 pm

I need some, and the crybabies can KMA!

    • Ken November 11, 2016, 6:41 am

      Yay Russ!

  • Tom Horn November 7, 2016, 6:50 pm

May be legal, but why fuel the flames. We need to try and win the minds of those Americans that still have minds. This doesn’t help.

  • Miles Huggins November 7, 2016, 2:13 pm

The fact that this is a big deal says alot about the state of the country we have people saying theyd rather see trump dead for real and thats ok but shooting a piece of paper regardless of whose image is on it is really non issue theres crazies out there we know that. The fact that a red light could set them off is enough reason to be ready everthing else is irrelevant.
