Will Hayden will be spending the rest of his years behind bars after a jury found the former “Sons of Guns” reality TV star guilty of rape, reports The Advocate.
After a four-day trial in an East Baton Rouge Parish courtroom, the jury deliberated for about an hour before it reached its unanimous decision: GUILTY! The 51-year-old was found guilty on two counts of aggravated rape and one count of forcible rape.
Aggravated rape carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison. Hayden will be sentenced on May 11.
Hayden was facing accusations from a 15-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman in this case. The 15-year-old testified that Hayden raped her a number of times in 2013 and 2014 when she was 11 and 12 years old.
The 37-year-old woman said that Hayden raped her in the early 1990s when she was 12 and 13. She came forward after Hayden was arrested following accusations from the 15-year-old.
What launched the investigation into Hayden’s misconduct is when Rebecca Ramsey, his former personal assistant at Red Jacket Firearms, the business that was featured on “Sons of Guns,” walked in on Hayden kissing the girl in the living room of his home in Greenwell Springs Road on Aug. 4, 2014. Ramsey filed a report the next day with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Hayden has denied any wrongdoing. He even took the stand during the trial in an attempt to convince jurors he was innocent.
In response to Hayden’s testimony, prosecutor Sonya Cardia-Porter called Hayden a “master manipulator” who gave a “pretty well rehearsed” performance.
“Don’t let him manipulate you like he manipulated them all those years,” she told the jury.
Meanwhile, Hayden’s defense attorney Bo Rougeou stood behind his client and said that he was unflappable on the witness stand because he was telling the truth.
“I feel like I must have overlooked something,” Rougeou said. “The jury saw something I didn’t.”
Hayden’s legal troubles extend beyond East Baton Rouge Parish. He also faces an aggravated rape charge from the 15-year-old girl and a sex crime charge from his oldest daughter Stephanie Hayden in Livingston Parish.
In a post on Facebook, Stephanie Hayden, who also starred on “Sons of Guns,” addressed the verdict.
